Boro deserved to win that. Better well drilled team. Chased everything. Didn't let us play. Brentford needed to up the tempo. More accuracy passing and shooting.
They had two very good chances but bar that i thought they were a depressing team to watch.

I can't recall a more negative and depressing thread. Playoff final was more upbeat.

Turgid. A result fitting for two dire teams.
The worst home performance for two years I reckon. We are a shadow of last years team - not really surprising considering we’re without four of the best players from that side, but still....

We were never going to create a hatful of chances against a Boro side very difficult to beat and who don't concede many.

However, we made it easy for them playing at such a slow pace. It's difficult to be creative when you just give the opposition time to get back into position all the time and you can't perform the basics like pass the ball and then move. It's also exactly the kind of game where the set piece can make a difference, e.g. by running at their defence and winning a 'soft' free kick and getting someone like Ghoddos to have a punt (plenty on his showreel). Jensen's dead balls were not good.

We need a new winger who has pace and strength. Actually getting bored of watching now, and this team are not making it exciting watching from home. PS Natalie is easy on the eye but her voice is draining. Can see why I don’t listen to talk sport anymore!!

Two disappointing performances this week against teams I would hope we would beat at home.

dare I say it... we are missing Said. A lot.
We probably are but at the same time an in form Brian and Sergi would help

Can always tell how we’re going to perform after the first 10 or even 5 minutes , why do we always seem to start so slowly recently? Very hard to pick up the pace of a game when the tempo is verging on soporific at the start !

Never mind. Janelt could’ve been a hero!! He missed the chance to be one!!

Probably a fair result. Boro were just as bland as we were.

Loads to work on and for TF and Co to think about.....

We never beat Warnock teams, they just never let you get any momentum. That's just the way it is I'm afraid. We had one BIG chance and you just have to take those in these sort of games..

Because we’re not good enough to do that anymore.
I think we will sort it out. Lots of injuries and game congestion messes with our flow, i think these last few games might have been worth trying 4-4-2 and just doing the basics but who am i to say. Either way i think we will get there, might need to do some business in/out in january, aslong as we keep touching distance with the pack i think we will be up there

Have a listen to Thomas Franks pre match interview lacked his normal excitement before the game you could have almost called how dreadfully boring this game would be after that

Really poor today, worst showing of the season so far. Why do we start games so slowly? We look a decent mid-table team at the moment and unfortunately not enough the players will get a proper break. Feels like we need a refresh and the motivation to start our season properly after the int. break.

We were so awful, I thought I had gone back in time to L2 and Butcher was still in charge. Best thing about the match was the final whistle

No doubt it's fatigue but thought Josh was awful 2nd half. No movement and on his heels the entire half.

Break has come at a good time for us I think, I know players will be away but it's a chance for the coaching team to really work with those still here. At least we didn't lose.

Our last three home games have been against form sides near the top and we matched all three. Hard to breakdown Boro today but we knew what to expect from them. We are a work in progress still in what has been a difficult season in every aspect on and off the pitch. I predicted a dog of a game 0-0 and, had we been there, it would have taken several pints of Pride to nullify the effect. We have some easier games after the break, judge us then perhaps.

So he knows how to set up a side. Good Management

We made it easy for him, under hit passes , poor touch from a lot of players. poor decision making . to many passes hit at Middlesbrough players

Outstanding from Mads Bech Sorensen and (aside from a mad minute) Ethan Pinnock too but otherwise, we are far too slow in possession. Players are expected to beat their man from a standing start because the passing is so slow and often telegraphed. It is not going to happen. What we are seeing so far this year is good coaches know they can press Brentford in possession to slow us right down and blunt our attacking threat. Our wide areas are a concern - particularly when our full backs are pinned back like today.

International Break Blues. Not as bad as the last one though. The commentators need to pick it up, too. It is in the job descriptions, surely? Might as well go on Twitter.

Watkins goals replace. SB’s flair/creativity/guile not. And it shows.
Exactly this, we have no X FACTOR at present. Overloaded with ZZZZ factor though. Watch Moyes give Benrahma another four minutes tonight when they are struggling to beat Fulham.

What a dire game, reminded me of a late 90's early 2000's game against Chesterfield or the like. We still don't know how to break sides like this down.

Horrible.
When are Jannsen and Norgaard expected back?
I can't see they would have made much difference. Maybe Christian could have got the ball moving quicker but they wouldn't fix a static attack.

Would have lost that 1 0 last season

I think you'll find that we actually won that last season 3 -2. Middlesbrough don't concede many but they aren't good enough to score many either.

We are only 3 pts off the play offs, just proves what a poor league this is, get our injured players back after the break, put a few results together and we can be back up near the top, only 11 game gone.

Exactly as I thought and said, A typical Warnock team, boring as hell, made us look and play the same, I know we are not firing on all cylinders as yet, but I know what manager I prefer, A couple of weeks rest to take stock might just be what we need with the injury problem.

Your watching the game what do you need commentary for??

Nobody commentates for me when I am standing at games.

I really miss being there especially for games like this when I would spend most of the second half deciding what pie the phantom fart machine on Ealing Road had at half time normal curry one but sometime beef

That was a frustrating watch I always expected it to be versus a Warnock team but the lack of creativity was really laid bare this afternoon.

I don't understand how Canos got a start but maybe the thinking was, after Luton, he is far better starting than coming on as a sub??! However another game that highlighted his shortcomings at the moment. I feel for the lad I really do but seriously he must be Messi to Fosu's Eddie Hutchinson at Jersey Road or something as I can't see why he starts ahead of him at the moment.

Ghoddos he still adjusting and I am more than happy to give him time but is he a wide player? I really don't know on what I have seen. So that leaves us with a Mbuemo who is a shadow of himself at the moment, Canos who is not good enough at the moment and Fosu who, for whatever reason is out of favour. Do we need to change of formation - maybe a 4-2-2-2 with Janault and Norgaard/Jensen sitting, Jensen/Dasilva/Ghoddos behind Toney and Forss. Or maybe getting Norgaard and Jansson back will make all the difference.

The good news is, in this strange season, is we are very much in touch with the top 6 - I just miss the attacking sublime football of last season, especially at home.

Did anybody expect anything else ?
Nobody to fear in this league , we will be fine .
Correct. Expect Warnock teams to kill a game and they did. IMO Bryan and Sergi should not start our next game. Bryan was completely ineffectual after looking a tad better in his last game. Please no stats. He contributes little. Sergi has great energy but no end product.

Absolutely spot on regarding Sorensen - I thought he was immense today and after Pinnocks strange last 5 or so minutes I think he was our best centre back today. I had some doubts about him covering for Pontus but a massive bright spot in the last few has been his performances.

The way our model works we are nearly always a work in progress.

We needed someone to run at their defence - something JDS normally does. But he looked shagged from the first kick off.
When our two centre backs are the only two making forward runs you know something is wrong.
A dreadful performance all round.
*can all those screaming for Fosu now please belt up.

But who starts our 4 wide players have been useless all season. The most disapointing of the 4 is Bryan, if he had stepped up this season it would have taken the pressure of Ghoddas and Canos. He has been given a rating of 5.4 which I believe was 2 above what it should have been. A top season and he would have been playing premier football next season.

I am surprised that people are surprised how the game turned out. It is always like this against Warnock sides and was not expecting a classic. We didn't play well, it bored me and surely Vitaly had to score that chance. We have drawn our last three games at home and had big chances in all 3 games to win it and that is slightly worrying for me but the one positive we are 1 point closer to the top. 6 points is nothing to make up.

Think most teams need this international break.
