Swansea played well today. We did okay but unless you’re on top form you’re not going to have it all your own way when they’re at their best.

Pinnock was clear MOTM and snuffed out their attacking threat nearly entirely on his own.

Toney being Toney nearly stole us the win - but sadly Canos’ reckless defending (he’s definitely struggling atm despite Saturday) allowed them in on our left and they got an equaliser. Probably would have been unfair on them to lose it tbh.

I’m not going to overreact to dropping points. We all know we have injuries. We all know the fixture congestion. We are one game away from an international break. If we can come away from Saturday unscathed it would have been an okay start. Marathon not a sprint etc.

Fair result, Swansea worked hard and got behind us. Ayew a threat throughout. Goal was soft again, neither Sergi or Canos came out of it well

Raya, Pinnock, RIco, Toney generally good, Josh, Jensen fine. Missing that spark up top if we are completely honest - we currently have a Said shaped hole

In advance of negativity from some.... that's not a bad point. We weren't brilliant, but we weren't appalling. we caught Swansea on a good day and didn't lose (would have won if Dalsgaard had converted). Long, strange season. Need to stay there or thereabouts for now as all sides will be up and down in the long term. We have a strong squad... sensible rotation could well see us come good at the right time in spring. (Apologies for cutting and pasting!)

Sergi or Canos? Are they not the same player?

Another point to add. I have talked regularly about our defensive issues this season, particularly:

1) PJ struggling/injured - Goode impressed tonight after a difficult start. Need to see more of the aerially dominant, front-foot defender that has an excellent long ball. Fewer hospital passes across our 18 yard box.

2) Henrik struggling - Still the case based on today. He’s not a wing-back anymore. Lucky one or two times not to cost us today. Great leader but would prefer him as an option for right sided centre back now. Roerslev has a really important role in the second half of the season, once back to fitness.

Pinnock, Henry and Raya can come out of the game with credit, Toney got his goal, otherwise fed on scraps, but there were some very tired-looking players out there. At the end of the day, a draw was a decent result as we were under the cosh for long periods of the game but we did get the better chances – only took the one, though. Move on... lets hope for some fresh legs on Saturday and Sørensen's available.

Only good thing, I think, is we don't have a midweek game next week so a decent rest between games.
Although we've been playing every week as everyone else has, remember we did also play a few extra cup games, some first team some not.

Point gained. Move on.

No need to be overly negative about the result. Swansea prob in top gear and we arent out of 2nd............................... Still couldnt beat us.

Roberts my word what a little ****. Rolling and screaming like hes been shot................. then straight up to smash in a freekick. Embarrassing.

Because it’s International Break weekend. So our last game is Saturday at home. Then two weeks off.

That was awful. Pinnock stood out. Raya made some saves early on. Toney scored a goal. But we were drab all across the pitch. No tempo. No creativity. Misplaced passes. The league is average but unfortunately so are we.

Really disappointed in players who should be doing a lot better - Henrik, Marcondes, Canos, Ghoddos.

Didn’t really get going so happy with a point against a tough side. Frustrating we can’t keep a clean sheet at home at the moment as you know we’re likely to score even when not playing that well.

Or the weekend afterwards but our international players do. Another game closer to Norgaard playing again is the main positive

Don't feel as bad now as I did after the Norwich game. Good point in many ways we just need to hang on and regroup when the injuries clear. My concern also is that no one else is or looks like scoring, which is a problem. You cannot rely just on Toney. However all things considered we are doing OK.

Not a great performance so probably an alright point.

When we have our first ‘back 6’ the rest of the team are free to focus on attacking and being creative. With big players in that 6 missing, Dalsgaard tiring and Goode looking way off the pace, the midfield have more defensive work to do and it nullifies us up front. Toney is quality and is keeping our attacking threat alive at the moment but injuries are costing us. Need Norgaard back asap, until then we should play Vitaly and hopefully Sorensen is back for Saturday!

We are in touch with the top 2 but need to improve, which I think we will, to stay in touch.

Henry was poor for their goal and it was a cross that Pinnock should be getting to first. Quite a lot came on the inside of Rico today, as it did in the home play off leg. They obviously tried to exploit Henry getting forward so much.

one point gained, could’ve easily been 3 if we were positive but could’ve lost it in the end. Hopefully we are just trying to stay in contention until Norgaard gets fit but this league is so so poor this season it’s unbelievable. Any team with Bidwell playing should be beaten and we could’ve beaten them if we were more positive.

He also absolutely flew down the wing past Ayew after taking the free kick, awful footballer.

Good point in the end, just need to navigate Saturday and hopefully after the break we have a couple more players to choose.. Norgaard and Jannson will surely be close then..

We have certainly missed a larger squad to choose from. ie Norgaard, Jansson, Roerslev and Baptiste. In these first few months of the season. We’ve survived to JUST stay in touch. Still think we need one or two more in January if we’re there, or thereabouts, half way through the season.

Injuries have certainly affected our games.

Yes we have 52 pros but several are out on loan, several are injured and some aren’t really ready, if they ever will be.

Additional right back, winger and central midfield player would’ve helped during this busy period..... anyway, too late now!

the plus points were pinnock and rico who were excellent and jensen who was just behind.....raya 2 great saves too and toney of course for all round game..........the minuses, marcondes again, canos again, josh looked knackered and his passing was well off tonight, ghoddos poor, mbeumo ok for a bit but doesnt get involved enough......goode prob had the worst 20mins in the first half but got away with it and improved 2nd half but still looks way off the mark for this league......tf has looks of work to do to get us up to the sort of level we need for mboro and warnock on saturday

Was surprised we didn’t go long more? Toney was winning balls and Ghoddos and Marcondes found good space behind him first half but even Raya rarely played it long, even when we had both Toney and Forss on. Thought we missed a trick there as we were getting swamped around our box when we tried to play it short..

Agree with that. We didn't seem to plug the gap, on either side, which I guess was due to our midfielders being outnumbered. Something we seemed to do well at Luton.

Fully agree, hindsight tells me we probably should not have loaned so many players out. Still easy to say now.

Totally agree. Always worth going long for a bit of variation as long as you've got something to aim for (Toney). With Forss on, it would have given them something different to think about. At the moment, we don't have the pace or accuracy to play around the high press, certainly not at the back with Goode, or in the middle with Marcondes and Jensen.

Very, very annoying wee sh*te, as intimated by Ivan Toney.

No.

I have however, heard of Jekyll and Hyde!
When I made comments like that, my dad would say "supercilious grammar school twit". But that was when I was younger and still a supercilious grammar school twit.

We needed to spend to fill Said's role and we didnt. Certainly tried to do things on the cheap this season after a record breaking year with incomings . Do we have to sign Ghoddas at the end of the loan.

Nothing to do with the game or the outcome but I really don't want to see us play in any colours other than red and white stripes in our home matches. Ridiculous to play Swansea in those colours tonight. Both teams in change strips.

We replaced him with a fella we went in for the previous year with a £7m offer. Hardly 'on the cheap'. What would you have us do - go out and spend £15-£20m on one player? And if we did, how much in wages would a player of that stature cost per week? We might have had £32m come into the club, but in case it escaped your notice, there's a bug going round at the moment meaning clubs have no fans or income coming in. Ghoddos has played a handful of games for goodness sake. He won't 'be a Benrahma', but I don't remember Benny tearing up trees until he'd been playing at least 10-15 games. Give these players a bit of time, please!

So we've seen enough of Ghoddos to write him off, have we? I forgot that future stars always hit the ground running and were instant heroes. Should we make a constructive suggestion to the DOF's that we build in maybe a 5-match sale-or-return agreement for future signings? If they don't cut the mustard within half a dozen games, ditch the useless bastards.

The first half hour we were being stopped from playing in all areas, especially our fullbacks who were pressed by Roberts and Bidwell. Separate from their pressing, our passing wasn’t to standard , however we did look threatening going forwards when we did manage to get into the final third. They had the better of the 1st half, but it is worth noting that despite the great saves by Raya, they only managed half/quarter chances against us.

It was clear that they did their homework to stop Mbuemo getting onto his left (by fouling or by shepherding) but in the end that was their downfall as a clever run on the outside of him by Jensen led to the goal. We were fortunate to lead at the break perhaps, but again, it was a clear Brentford chance created vs Swansea low percentage chances.

Mbuemo showed a lot more today going creativity and general play. Second half, his ball to Dalsgaard from the freekick was good quality, and it was a shame Henrik couldn’t convert, or head it across goal.

From there the game was quite evenly balanced, slightly tipping to Swans, and they were able to sustain a bit of pressure which led to the goal. They should have scored just before they did: A shot scuffed wide but our good luck turned bad as it was bizarrely given as a corner which led to the goal. It was good play by Swansea and despite what you can say about the defending, it was well engineered and finished.

It was inconclusive if the brilliant Ayew was offside at the end, but my gut feeling was that he was. He certainly started a yard offside as the players lined up. We could have easily lost it there, and in real time I thought we had.

MOM for me was Henry. He looks a level above this season. Mbuemo did well in creativity and workrate, Pinnock was very solid, and special mention to Jensen who was progressive with his passing as the game went on. Matthias has to start each game in my view. I like Marcondes but I would start him on the bench, so as to have a bit more balance with a defensive midfielder in the 3.

Point a fair result on the balance of the 90.

I hate referees like that, the players quickly worked out that fall down under contact and you get free kick.Ref gave some absurd decisions mostly in our favour. Never trust a referee that looks like Charles Atlas.

Easy to say we should have stacked more players in but if all players stayed fit we would have players sitting around with no chance of a game.

Definitely a point gained for me. My MOTM are Raya and Pinnock. Raya kept us from going 2 down before we scored against the run of play and Pinnock was our standout defender. We weren’t at our best and Swansea’s tactics worked well, particularly finding pockets of space between Rico and Pinnock which hurt us. Big push needed for 3 pts on Saturday and then rest up!
