Your comment reminds me of one of my earliest memories watching the Bees. A Monday night in 1979 against Sheff UTD and we played alone and if we won went 2nd, I think they were top, not sure. It was a crazy night but unfortunately we lost 2-1. Things will be different this time, both the result and the atmosphere.
Alf Grey.
All those that think they have seen a bad ref will never understand what happened that night.
Two of around 100 incidents stick out in my mind the most.
Jim Mcnichol seeing Sheff Unt playing the offiside trap runs from CB, chips the ball over the whole defence and goes through one on one. A moment of pure genius, it was wonderful. Lino doesn’t flag obviously but Grey blows and gives offside against Mcnichol who had passed to himself.
Injury time, dodgy penalty to SU, a brilliant save and he makes them retake it and they score to win 2.1.
Tonight will be different, we are the top dogs now.
