Isn't Phil Collins a Chiswick lad? I'm sure we can tenuously link him to the Bees...

Chiswick is borderline QPR.

Excuse me ? 😡

I was born across the road from the Fullers brewery can’t get much more Brentford than that !

I wasn't born in Chiswick but at Queen Charlotte's which is their territory, I suppose but only just. Anyway, I only spent a few days there. I grew up 5 mins or so from Fuller's and used to walk to GP along the M4 ramp.

Chiswick Maternity Hospital on Netheravon Road?

How has this thread morphed from Famous Bees Supporters to Which Hospital you were born?????

:backtotopic: please

Here's the potted history!

Vic Oliver comedian before and after WW II

I wonder if he ever brought his father-in-law to see the Bees play?
Anyone notice Winston Churchill amongst the crowd?

An an addendum to you youngsters, before Chiswick Maternity Hospital Brentford, Chiswick and Ealing was served by Clayponds Maternity Hospital and when my mother went into labour the Bees were being beaten by Everton 3-0 and I believe Dixie Dean scored a hat-trick, But then I am very old.

This thread is really desperate isn't it? How about Sean Connery.....he was in Hell Drivers which was partly filmed in Brentford High Street. He also wrote a personal note to Kevin O'Connor congratulating him on his 500th appearance for the Bees. (Fact)

Good story. But this was well before Connery became famous. I did some publicity on the film - and he must have been well down the cast list - I've just had to look it up on the web to even find that he WAS in the film!

He was very much one of the main drivers in the story with Stanley Baker the lead plus Sam Kidd and I think Sid James

Yes. Very prominent in the film. Beggars belief that a publicist from the film doesn't know Connery was in it

Not relevant to the thread but believe film also had Herbert Lom and Patrick McGoohan in it.

Please get your facts right before you criticise - I was not the film's publicist, I was working for the Rank Organisation and as such did (as I said) a little work on the film. As I recall it - it was a helluva long time ago - focus was on the main stars Stanley Baker, Patrick McGoohan, Herbert Lom, William Hartnell and Sid James. I was concentrating on the young Rank 'stars' like David McCallum.

Sorry gave you some bum information. According to the report in the Sunday Pictorial Dixie only scored two goals of which the first was a header.
We must get the facts straight.

Was visiting a former player’s family over the weekend. They revealed - and this is more a lame to fame than a Bees’ connection - but the mother of Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie used to run the Brentford Supporters’ netball team in the 1950s!

At last.........after a fair amount of scraping the bottom of the barrel (including my 'I'll see your Neil Kinnock and raise you Sean Connery') we can now move this to #1 in the 'Famous Bees Supporters Justice League'.

Phil Collins can't make it. Neither can Phoebe.

However, John McVie's mum has already booked the Novotel in Mumbles

I read an interview with John McVie a few years back; he said he used to sell programmes at Griffin Park as a youngster. Unfortunately his allegiance is with the Gunners.

I was also at Walpole at the same time, also two years older. I stood with him on the New Road in the late fifties. Incidentally his dad Reg was founder member of the Bees supporters clubhouse
Was at Walpole the same time as me although two years older.
