You’re not a fan of Eredivisie signings are you
It's nothing to do with where he's come from. It was a great finish but if you look at him closely there is no way he's going to challenge Forss for the first striker option from the bench.

Candidly I don’t think either is yet anywhere near developing into being able to play the lone striker role we employ.

Both look as if they’re more effective in a partnership. Lots more hard work needed as the potential is definitely there.

What will we do for goals now Hogan is gone, Vibe just isn’t up to it as a striker?

Maybe after a game in which Halil has scored and assisted against a near full strength Boro team who our normal starting XI eked out 0-0 against is not the time to feel very strongly that he or Forss or anyone else who played is not yet up to it? If nothing else, the way Warnock sets his teams up is so anathema to us that we never look at our fluent best against them.

Fair enough. Probably neither are close to serious contention for a first XI spot as the number 9, but Halil has the advantage being able to play across the front three and having strong link-up play. Because of this I still think he’s got something to offer for the next few months at least. He gives us something different.

Definitely a skilful intelligent player. Given our record I am for one inclined to trust in our scouts and DoF's and see the lad come good.

Thought he contributed well on Saturday, yes physicality and fitness do need to improve but the talent is their for all to see.

The rush to judgement is bizarre - we almost certainly are not seeing the best of him, yet. By all means give me your skeptical outlooks at the end of the season, but on paper you couldn't ask for much better than Forss and Dervisoglu (both in their early 20's) as your backup forwards.

Minimal game time, a goal and an assist............... **** me cut the lad some slack. Cant imagine what it would have been like without those two contributions.
...............or if he chewed gum whilst being interviewed..............

AslanGibiSponsor on Twitter: "Galatasaray, Halil Dervişoğlu için kulübüyle resmi görüşme gerçekleştirdi. Brentford’un talebi oyuncunun düzenli forma giyebileceği bir takıma gitmesi. Transfer kiralama bedeli olmadan sezon sonu 2.5 Milyon Euro dolayında zorunlu satın alma anlaşmasıyla gerçekleşebilir." / Twitter

Galatasaray held an official meeting with the club for Halil Dervişoğlu. Brentford's demand is for the player to go to a team where he can wear regular jerseys. The transfer can take place with a mandatory purchase agreement of 2.5 Million Euros at the end of the season without a rental fee.

And another one....

This guy with 22k followers suggests Galatasaray have agreed to loan Dervisoglu with an option to buy at the end of the season..
But is he allowed to play for another club? There was talk before the season that the rules were going to be changed so players could play for more than two in a season but unsure if that was the case.

Looking into this it seems FIFA changed the rules for this season? This from the FIFA COVID 19 regulatory Q&As

(1) Registration and eligibility Article 5 paragraph 4 of the RSTP states (emphasis added): “Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to MAs with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.”

Several MAs have expressed concern, as a result of the postponement of the current season and delayed commencement of the next season, that a player may inadvertently breach article 5 paragraph 4 of the RSTP when they transfer to a club affiliated to a different MA. Decision: In order to avoid any concerns, players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs and shall be eligible to play official matches for a maximum of three clubs during the same season, limited to: (i) for MAs following a dual-year calendar: the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons; and (ii) for MAs following a single-year calendar: the 2020 season. (2) Commencement of the first registration period before the completion of the current season Article 6 paragraph 2 of the RSTP states that “[t]he first registration period shall begin after the completion of the season and shall normally end before the new season starts”. Several MAs (which follow a dual-year calendar) have requested that the “first registration period” for the 2020/21 season begin before the completion of the 2019/20 season, as the realignment of their football calendar has resulted in a short break between seasons (in some cases, as little as three weeks).

I wonder if its the HD making the noise and not the club. Maybe he wants to go home? IMHO he looks too good to be constantly linked / loaned elsewhere.

I guess the lad wants to play and is pushing for that. And whatever we think of Galatasay they are massive in Turkey even in their current poor state. Any Turkish lad would want to play for them.

He played upfront a year ago against Leicester and will likely do the same again this weekend. It's easy to see why he may think he has stood still for a year and would want to go somewhere else to get 1st team football.

I won’t be surprised if he leaves. Unless it’s his natural demeanour, he’s never looked especially happy at the club. Not even when he scored against middlesborough.

Seems to be a lot of noise about this so wouldn't be surprised if this happens. His father has now apparently said that he's in Turkey and will sign on loan for the rest of the season. There will be no option to buy however..

He is a good player but it's difficult for him being a forward as there are a few ahead of him. Any new player coming in needs to be a step up on what we already have or just hit the ground running like Vitaly.

True, though I think he could offer more in some ways than Forss by being better able to play wide so gives another option.

Agree, my main concern right now is the risk of Toney getting injured, leaving us with Forss as our only CF option in the middle.

Agree.. think he'd be a lot better option wide than Forss. It's really not Forss' game. He looks lost out there..
I agree- I think maybe he offers a bit more defensively than Halil but we basically had nobody wide right once he came on. There was a late pass out wide to where Bryan would have been but Forss wasn’t even near enough to attempt to start running for it. Just not his game at all.

Halil's father... He seems to be very involved in his son's career and is regularly quoted on twitter.. He is quoted as saying that Halil is in Turkey now and will sign for Galatasary on loan until the end of the season..

Me too... This could all be nonsense. There was loads of stuff about him going to turkey in the summer but nothing materialised, but if his father is saying it's happening then it looks v likely. All these tweets suggest it will be announced tomorrow so we shall see..! Personally hope he stays as I think he's got lots to offer and we're short enough as it is...

Surely if he’s off ski and Marcondes is out as well as Pontus,Baptiste and Norgaard still we will bring at least 1 in? 🤷‍♂️

If he is really out there then 👴🏽 doubt he will be back. I think that he will have to isolate for 10 days should he return.

To be honest, there is permanently "a lot of noise" around the Istanbul-based football clubs.
So I wouldn't read too much into it, but you could understand his frustration, as he has not really progressed whilst with us.
A loan might suit all parties, but at some point he needs to start playing for us if it is going to happen
