It's got sung by every bloody team, even Fulham sing it FFS.
Yeah but were the singing it in the 70's. I only heard Brentford singing it then

If i was a brief for the prosecution i would ask how many times you went to football matches in that era that didn't involve Brentford

Certainly PG would play it in our promotion season of 1977/8 but it must have been played, and sung by us, before then.

Never liked the song and PG's attempts to get us to sing it at the play off final against Stoke finished it for me. We should be looking for something inspiring for LR.

Especially as we were up against Stoke and Delilah.

We never stood a chance.

The theme tune to the Bees podcast would be more pertinent, rousing and easier to sing without making a hash.
I asked you for a suggestion to replace Hey Jude, with no answer, and then you ask my question.
You have not really thought this through have you?

Looking forward to hearing your rendition on Saturday of your tune.
When can we hear this so that we can pass judgement?

I do not do podcast so it's new to me.

"Let in Bee" is probably a better Beatles tune - but I like Hey Jude, would like it more if we used it uniquely.
Do we want a unique song like "Let it BEE" or would we want "Hey Jude" which also encourages away supporters to join in?

Can't believe how frequently this comes up.
Hey Jude is our club anthem, it is a part of our history. It's not perfect but you can't just rip it up and start again with a different song.

Yay to hey Jude.

I hope we can keep 'the hives - come on' at half time as we move forward.

Up tempo and I like it. Me, me, me.

'1000 answers' by the hives would be a nice Scandinavian nod to Rasmus etc. Again I like this song too.

All they need to do is play the actual Beatles version and not a Paul McCartney live track and play it just before kick off as the players are already on the pitch rather than at about 10 to 3 (I.e. when they play it at Millwall)

Will the song at the new stadium be Hey Jude or will it be a Susan Boyle number?

The song to the tune of "There is a tavern in the town" was being sung in the Royal Oak when I first came to GP in the mid-60s and still gets an airing. It is a touch 1950s but at least is our own. Saturday Afternoon Red Army or Come On You Brentford are proper Brentford songs too.

Come on you Brentford, either the Stan Bowles version or the newer one is great and a song specific to us.

Why not. We're moving to a new ground and its a new successful era in our club's history. Hey Jude wasn't even thought of when we were last as successful as this and the new generation of supporters are unlikely to relate to an old and dull Beatles song, which is hardly rousing, not all that easy to sing and has nothing to do with our club. Bah! Nostalgia. We can do better than Hey Jude.

To be fair, the lyrics of Come On You Brentford are a bit cheesy although the chorus is OK. The best songs are those that are nothing about football and are unique to the club that sings it. Goodnight Irene and Delilah for example. Based on that we should select a random song as our own. Puppet on a String by Sandie Shaw or something by the Rubettes perhaps?

Hard-fi 's Hard to Beat then.

They support Brentford and it's a great song.

But still think the "red and white favours" lyrics of Come on You Brentford are class. No idea what red and white favours are but anyway...

As I was walking down the alley approaching the away end at WBA, the sound of Insomnia by Faithless was incredible!

Not suggesting we use it - it's synonymous with WBA, but it got the hairs on the back of the neck standing.

I'm a big Beatles fan and Hey Jude is our song, but the original version would be much better, than the live version which we hear.

I seem to remember that Hold Me Close by David Essex had a brief outing in the late 80's early 90's.

I once saw Sunderland fans at Swindon singing, and dancing to, the Shake n Vac TV advert song. Pretty impressive. And as for the Rubettes, Jukebox Jive would be OK surely?

How many of our fan base who singalong would remember Jukebox Jive?

I understand where you are coming from and I find your suggestions funny and I am old enough to remember Sandie Shaw and the Rubettes.

So I suggest Tiger Feet.

Maybe Booker T and the MGs " Time is Tight " as a warm up before " Hey Jude " ?
