This is a really tasteless design to have plastered on the back of our famous shirts. It may bring revenue into our club but I never thought that having supported our team for over 60 years we would sink to this.

What is the objection, the sponsor on the back (been done before) or that it's a gambling firm on the shirt (been done before) or something else?

Can't say I've noticed it, so can't be that prominent

Only been announced today on the OS. They are our new betting partner. So presumably their logo will be on the shirts from Saturday onwards.

I had hoped we'd stepped away from associating with these companies which cause untold misery.

Were you against Samvo, 888 sport, LeoVegas and Match Book sponsoring the shirts too?

Times change.

I appreciate the difficult position we’re in due to MB’s own business but we shouldn’t be promoting two-bob gambling firms and it won’t be long before we’re not actually able to.

Thats fine.

I’d be banging on the doors of the TV advertisers than my own Club. Every match shown on TV shows betting companies. You then get Ray Winstone telling us during half time to bet on the score etc etc.

If this is the only option, when it comes to sponsoring the shirts, and adds some income to an already tight budget, I’m ok with it. It’s not on the front and it isn’t that big on the back.

Betting will, more than likely, be banned from advertising and sponsoring as tobacco companies were. Time will soon tell.

I would rather than betting adverts were banned, however whilst it's here it would put us at a competitive disadvantage to not take their money.

Gambling advertising hopefully will eventually be banned, especially, wherever it is most likely to influence the young. I'm sorry to see it 'adorn' our kit.

I am against betting companies sponsoring our shirts. I think the poor design and presentation does us no favours, Money talks and sadly football listens.

I agree that in an ideal world we shouldn't have any betting sponsorship. On Monday when BIAS met with JV he stated how it was extremely difficult to get any new sponsors in, in the current climate.

Much better a good old patriotic sponsorship such as St George or UK Packaging hey....how many of us were tempted to invest in property or buy a load of Jiffy bags because of them?

We seem to announce a new sponsor every five minutes.

If it brings money in to the club then I don’t see the problem. We aren’t the only club to be doing it.

Does this mean everyone who has purchased a replica shirt is owed an extra logo? :)

Loathesome betting companies, should be banned from all publicity.

You do know who owns us and where all this new found glory has come from?

Some right old snowflakes on here. Without a certain betting company we probably wouldn’t have a club to support. My ideal shirt would have London Pride on the front Benson and Hedges on the back and Betfred on both sleeves 😎

The increasingly overt commercialisation of our club is going to alienate some fans. To describe any betting brand as community focused is pure marketing bullshit. Just cos every other club has no scruples and takes their shilling doesnt make it right or mean we should follow suit. Why not set an example instead? And yes, I know how MB made his dosh...

This is ridiculous!!

You either smoke or don’t. It’s your choice.

You either drink alcohol or don’t. Again, that’s your choice.

You either bet or don’t. Once again, your own personal choice.

No company forces anyone to do anything in this day and age. It’s up to the individual.

If the individual falls into a place where they need help, then there are several options out there to take, go and seek help.

It’s your own choice. Tobacco and alcohol has, for the most part, been banned from advertising in most sports around the world. Next will be, more than likely, gambling/betting businesses.

Brentford Football Club are where they are because of a professional gambler and his statistics business .

BFC has also benefitted from betting companies over the last 10 years. Mainly through shirt sponsorship.

If there aren’t any other companies willing to invest their money into a football club, what else is the Club meant to do? Turn down money that helps it to survive?

Next will be no sugar based companies being allowed to sponsor, ie Coke, Pepsi or sweet manufacturers.
No fats based companies.
No salt based companies.

They all have negative effects on the human body.

Where does it stop?

No one is arguing there is a line to be drawn. The question is - where is that line (both legally and morally)?

Some are, very clearly and stridently. Advertising is a sell out. It's not just beans. Gambling is a vice. Always was.

Been recent studies suggesting British football sponorships have helped to normalise gambling and enable these companies to reach more impressionable groups, such as kids, as brodcasting of games allows them to circumvent usual watershed guidelines. Same reason booze and fags got the boot reallly.

It may be a convenient argument but I think what Smartodds does is a world away from the way the likes of how LeoVegas etc operate - I believe their (LV's) track record is particularly bad when it comes to regulatory matters and how they deal with problem gamblers. I know nothing about 'Hollywood Bets' so can only form a judgement based on the fact their logo looks like something from an early 90s bingo hall.
