This does all seem rather speeded up, about a tenth of the usual time to develop a vaccine if it is being delivered by February. There are lots of people working on it though, much more than is usual, which no doubt helps and as a previous poster said, there is some sort of system for cooperation. Also because it is a Coronavirus, scientists have been working on this type of virus for years, so they are not starting from scratch. As for the risk, caution is useful and surely a personal choice. There was a drug (not a vaccine) that testing failed to demonstrate the full effects of, not necessarily through lack of testing, I don't know the reason why the problems occurred, in the late 1950s/ early 60s. You may remember it, released to help mothers to combat morning sickness. It did not go well.
I saw a really good post on this but sod knows where. It went through the stages and basically said yeah it was ten years but that was so much waiting and doing nothing and funding issues etc.and If you stripped all that Wastage away As the whole world of science is on the case then it’s not really That outrageous
