You're out of order telling other people how they should react. You're entitled to your opinion but don't start having a dig at a supporter who attends week in, week out. He has his own way of supporting the club that a lot would do well to follow. To bring personal insults and analogy in might be out of frustration but leave the longstanding and genuine supporters out of it.

It's a good question isn't it? Where's it all gone wrong?

I don't think you can point to any one specific reason, it's a combination of a number of reasons for why we are where we are. Ultimately, the bottom line is this: we simply do not have the funds or budget to buy in the kind of experienced, quality Championship players you need to be successful in this division. Not just in terms of signing on fee, but in in terms of wages.

Let's be brutally honest here, at least half the current side aren't good enough or experienced enough to be playing regular first team football in the Championship. But we're currently having to play them because they're the best we've currently got. How many first team players have more than a seasons experience in the Championship? I can only think off 4, all remnants from last year: Button, Dean, Bidwell, Judge. The rest of them are either continental imports or players on loan or players that have come up from lower divisions. You can get away with introducing one or two promising youngsters or inexperienced players into an established side, but you can't get away with playing more than half the team with them.

The good news is, I think the lessons have been learnt. You can't change so much so quickly, you can't rely on bringing in inexperienced/young or continental players in and expect them to adapt immediately to the physicality of Championship football.

Very good post and share my own views.

I'm not one for finger pointing, we have made mistakes as a club and dug ourselves a hole, simple as that.

Let's hope we have the ability to dig ourselves out, starting with a couple of good loan signings. For me the summer rebuild is secondary, let's sort our immediate problems out first.

Getting a tad warm in here tonight. Open the GPG Towers windows...a good blow from Aileen should cool down the furnace.

It's a good job we have a calm owner who doesn't make kneejerk reactions. I do wonder though, if he would 'abandon' the model temporarily to ensure we stay in this division by cashing in on either Konsa or Mepham in January and using a decent wedge of that cash for a couple of more experienced leader in the middle and at centre back. This team seriously needs someone on the park to gel them together. The DoFs have always said that isn't a priority, but I can't see an end to our defence leaking like a squatter's ceiling.

Never mind all that, pop downstairs if you could and stick a couple of fans on the GPG boiler please, ta.

We are just so far apart at times Konsa & Mepham need to defend closer with full backs tucking inside, but with no wide cover for full backs we just seem to be completely exposed.

Need our missing men back
The GPG doom and gloom army has suffered significant casualties in the past few years. But a recruitment drive is in full swing and numbers are expected to return to previous high at the end of January.

Just popped downstairs for a pre season boiler check and it was already hot hot hot

Who's been fiddling with the thermostat? :nono:

I trust that regulation temperature will be maintained until the season kicks off

Phew getting a tad toasty in the boiler room. Just found magicbees downstairs feeding posts from the summer transfer thread into the fire - about 10 a second at the current rate! Thermostat alert! If anyone requires some chill time I'll stick the fans on in the snug.

Yes, the database got corrupted. All repaired and back now.

The backups happen about 4am so it could be related to that.

It's a lack of investment in the server, as we're moving to a new one soon :)

The entire Charlton match thread has disappeared. Call the police!

GPG towers just don't want to accommodate the gnashing & grinding about to take place!

If you are able to douse the flames of a nascent GPG burnout you can achieve anything. Could you pop over to the Amazon please?

Just popped in to the revamped GPG Towers to check the new build compliant eco friendly heating system is ticking along nicely and was floored by a raging furnace as I opened the front door. Why on earth has the thermostat not been calibrated??? You just can't get the staff these days :banghead:

I've checked FiveThirtyEight...who now think we'll tie with Swansea on points. Either way I will be very selective with the threads I enter over the next few days.
