Old Bees programmes

I have been having a bit of a clear out and have been sifting through a bag of old programmes that I collected in my younger days and my Mum kept hold of for some reason.

They start around 1976 but most seem to be early 80s (when I started going on my own) including Liverpool at home and Fulham away.

There's a load of 90s Bees programmes too (including some away ones from our brief stay in the 2nd teir) and some old Beesotted's and TITS from that time.

Plus a smattering of non-Bees games from the early 80s: Tottenham, Palace, Stoke, Bolton, Coventry... and my first England game V Spain 1981

Does anyone know if there's a market for any of this?

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Couple of options are;
Donate them to the programme shop (Braemer Road). Not sure if they buy items.

Ebay them individually or in bundles.

Offer them for sale on here. Sure someone friendly will let you know what a fair price for them is.

Programme Shop has too much! Plus they may have to downsize due to not having a room at the new stadium. Anything after 1980 may be dumped. Pre 1980 maybe kept. They have that much stock!!

The archive currently being collated for Brentford FC, from 1946 to present, is complete, or near to it, that the Football Club won’t need them either.

Either someone on here might want them? Sell them on eBay? (Best of luck with that!). Or, maybe, ask the Football in the Community Trust if they can use them?

They have very little value. Sorry.

I ended up taking mine (50 years worth) to the dump. No one was interested on here at all except for the cartoon booklet of charactures of the 1930's team which NLB bought (proceeds donated to the RSPCA).

Many thanks both

I did have a quick look on eBay and came to a similar conclusion, so yeah I’m open to any offers from fellow gpgers. They’re in pretty good nick and I’m not expecting much for them.

Happy to do a more detailed inventory if anyone’s interested.

Cheers

If the programme shop has such a backlog they are considering dumping them, perhaps they should offer a framed selection of programmes since 1980 that are personal to us, first game, memorable games, favourite covers etc.
People could obviously do it themselves but that’s time consuming.
If I was offered my choice of 10/12 good condition programmes from an online selection, pre framed for £25 I would buy one, probably £15 profit in it for the club.

And it isn’t time consuming for those that run the Programme club or the shop? lol

Programmes were dumped several years ago too. Nobody wanted them.

You find the frames etc and I’m sure the club will give you some to start your new business with.

For my 40th birthday a friend - who has no interest in football - tracked down a Bees home and away programme (plus a Celtic one) from as close as possible to my date of birth as a gift.

Framed them myself, but was reminded of this by @BeesBloke's idea.

Don’t get your point about it being time consuming for those running the club/programme shop, that’s what I’ll be paying £25 for.

I heard a story, in my brief liaison, with the Programme Club, working evenings meant it was nigh on impossible to get to meetings, that when a game was postponed that Eric White would keep one for him self, and pulp the rest.

My collection goes back to 1964, but it looks like they are two a penny, which is a shame, as I've spent so much time and money collecting them.

There are some programmes that are probably worth more to the opposition club than a Brentford fan.

The opening day games against Sunderland and Wolves in the 80's are, or they were, worth a few bob.

The Peterborough promotion game in 1992 was worth about a fiver, but all these may well have by now decreased in value.

Looks like the programme shop won't need anything I've got and I don't really want to dump them.

Looks like I'll give ebay a go, faikling that they will just gather dust in my garage.

Worth having a chat with the Programme Shop guys first. They may be interested in seasons or specific programmes.

Fair dos. I had a quick read but hadn't realised the OP had actually spoken with the Programme Shop guys. Surprised there aren't more £1 bundles if the shop is so desperate to get rid of stock. I am a member of the Collectors Club and have a subscription to away programmes. Popped in on Saturday. If there were bundles of 70s/80s programmes (as there have often been), I'd have bought at least some of them. From what I could see, only a couple of 90s bundles. The guys do a great job and this is not any disrespect to them.

Ask Steve and Alan in the shop if they can do that ?

They’re probably downsizing now. Won’t want more run of the mill stuff.

The move to LR - and, so far, lack of space for a programme shop in it (nothing heard yet as to what is happening) - will mean that fewer programmes will be kept in stock. Nowhere to put them.

I doubt you’ll see more stock for sale.

As I've mentioned earlier my collection only goes back to 1964, so they will be the only ones that might be of interest to them, but as has been mentioned they don't know what the situation will be at LR so may not even want them.

There are several on eBay for £2.99 inc postage.

It’s the one with Ken Coote and the 4th Div trophy picture on it.

I’ll see if I have a spare.....

The season before my collection starts, so I haven't got it I'm afraid.

I have run out of room for my Bees programme collection and I am looking to sell but there are also some various other items including pre war autographs, one pre war handbook to go with some pre war programmes home and away, a post war Laurence East sketchbook and plenty of scrapbooks going back to the 70's.

If anyone is interested or needs anything specific for programmes up to 2017/18 then let me know.

Similar to 'marks' above - I've also had a clear out and looking to get rid of mine, albeit I must admit it doesn't sound like mine go back as far. But I've certainly got most from 95ish-2010ish, plus a load of other random non bees ones. Naturally go to 'marks' first as he posted first, but if that brings no joy feel free to let me know. I've got a Excel sheet I can send with all mine on (in no specific order I'm afraid), with separate tabs for league/non-league/other and fanzines as there is quite a few BFC of those also. Sadly due to family relations there is also quite a few of that other team from Shepherds Bush - but don't judge me!

Hold on to the QPHa ones during the pandemic in case toilet paper becomes scarce.

Just put 2+2 together and worked out you're the fella whose 'on this day' postings I really enjoy on Twitter. They give me a brief trip down memory lane for Bees and non-league games I've attended down the years, keep up the good work!

Can you share which account this is please? I may already be following but not sure
It only covers BFC games I've been too, along with a host of other matches beside, the Bees games are mostly between 95-2010ish when I moved to Cardiff - but can be found with @park2prem - I may look to start adding some BFC games I haven't attended on the respective date, but obviously my knowledge of any events at those will be sparse!
