From BBC:

"Ollie Watkins has missed four of the six penalties he has taken in English league football.
An absolutely terrible record. How did he persuade Villa to give him the gig?"

Blatant offside - a good inch of his shirt sleeve was maybe offside.

while at the same time the WHU defender was pulling him back.
Yeah I noticed this, but if he wasn't being held back he would definitely be offside. Interesting one.

I heard that the var had two different angles with drawn lines and the lines were drawn to different parts of the body - one to the fingers and the other to the armpit. Not seen it but if true, sounds like they're trying to deliberately find faults than just accepting that it may have been on.

Villa fans love him. Watkins is so integral to the way they play.

Hit the bar, hit the post, non stop running, two assists today V Palace, non stop running and pressing. High praise on BBC and by Henry Winter. Looks really at home in the Premier League.
Just caught up with MOTD on iPlayer. How good was Ollie yesterday? Unbelievable work ethic. Magnificent 👏

These top presenters. It gets me as to how little or unable they are to judge a player in a lower division, as to their ability to go up a league. Its like Ollie has just arrived, where did he come from, oh Brentford - ur OK
With his all round play leading the line, he’s nor far from getting a lift from Grealish on the next international break

Ollie is a class act on and off the field. If only he had connected to that ball from Said final game of the season against Barnsley we would still have both Ollie and Said with Toney.

Not sure if I mentioned on this thread or another but had the pleasure of meeting his brother - that short meeting with his brother whom was very well spoken made me realise how well they both have been brought up.

Still f***ing annoys me however how Ollie needed to explain to a minority last year how taking the knee in response to BLM is important.

Compare the way Ollie conducts himself, to Jack Grealish.
Cheese and Chalk.
Grealish is petty, chippy and always looks like he feels he's owed something.

Glad Ollie scored yesterday, unbelievably Villa fans on Twitter were starting to criticise him in recent weeks and wanted a replacement.

He’s been great even when he wasn’t scoring.
Some fans just don’t appreciate what the’ve got. I don’t think would function half as well without him.

It’s official, so do I.
I love watching Villa at the moment it reminds us of the football we were playing last year.
Totally agree with all that. I have enjoyed watching Villa this season and pleased for all the ex Bees there... particularly Ollie.
Our style football this season hasn't been as easy on the eye as last season but it's what we need to do to finally get us out of this division.
We can go back to our free flowing football next season in the prem.

I suspect if we do go up. Your see two styles from Frank.a more pragmatic organised counter attacking team against the bigger clubs and a more attacking flowing team agasint the bottom half teams.

Similar to some of our fans: centre forwards score goals, defender defend – if they don't just do that, then bin them. The ever-so-slightly more subtle differences between a player's xG, xPG, xA and xGA compared to team xGf, xGa and xPts is all a bit too fancy.

Yes had we gone up we would have kept Ollie and Said and added 2or 3 quality players and we would be doing a Villa.
Still we have now chosen to do it a different way, so all’s good.

Sounds like some posters on here when was switched from the wing to centre forward. Written off before given a chance. All clubs have dick heads unfortunately.

But we did not go up, given that they were always going to move on. What you have just critised is central to how we operate. If we had stopped them moving on it may have become difficult to attract the Toney's of this world. We also need the financial turnover to be able to continually challenge near the top of this division against teams with bigger spending power. It will be the same this year if we don't go up, but it's not something we would choose, it's financial sense.

Some argument about it being off side, but think he has really clicked at Villa and they have massively improved this year - also praise for Konsa who has made the next step up now

Another goal v West Ham.
Thats 11 for the season.
Scores a goal every other game. Could end up with 16 or 17 this season. Excellent return.

Was there anything in the transfer connected to number of goals scored?

He’s a superb player with a wonderful work ethic. Thoroughly decent guy to go with it.
Yep. One of the best players to pass through Brentford FC in recent years.
