The person who replaces Sir P of G has likely not even been born yet :thetruth:

Live in Malpas, Cheshire. Work in Chester. My hear
Peter on radio 5 now talking, with the Liverpool chap (George) who is 2nd longest announcer.
They did a mock announcement live, with goals being scored and QPR scoring and then what he says and when Brentford score, with him (Peter) going absolutely berserk.

Was a good interview with both and made me smile.
Text messages came in from Bees fans to radio 5 whilst interview was going on

Peter going to carry on announcing for as long as he can
Premiership beckons.
Peter cant wait to meet George next season when we are playing each other.

Interview must've lasted 15 minutes on the radio.
Well done Peter.

The 5 Live interview was ok - they seemed to focus on the guy who is 2nd place a lot guess because its a Prem team.... But Peter still gave a good representation of himself and Brentford
have a look on BBC Sounds if you want to have a listen..... from around 18:30 ish

Just in case anyone reads the quote above incorrectly - when I was asked how I would react if the team from Shepherds Bush scored the winner in the last minute (yeah right!!!!!), I said nothing as I would be struck dumb!

I think the policy of never announcing away goalscorers (no matter which team is the opposition), is a very good one and a correct one. I'm surprised the other 91 clubs do it :)

Very weird, got in the car and the first voice I heard was Peter Gilham. Honestly for that split second I was utterly confused.

It is amazing how many people remember the 0-3 Norwich game with such affection - the dawning sense that we would be OK at this level.

When I was a nipper, Dad and I were waiting for the coach to an away game and Dad nudged me to say "look, there's Peter Gilham. Why don't you ask for his autograph?". So I did. PG reacted brilliantly, saying I couldn't possibly want his autograph, but still signed my book with good grace! And to be fair, he's more of a Bees legend than anyone else in that book!!

One away game at Tranmere, Mrs hb and I took the opportunity to see friends living on the Wirral. As I've mentioned before on here, she's got no interest in football whatsoever, so I went with the husband, while the ladies spent the afternoon together. It was the last Saturday before Christmas. We got to Prenton Park, and PG approached us near the turnstiles. "Have you got tickets?". We said no. He then gave us a ticket each that Martin Allen and the team had arranged for ticket less supporters for travelling that far just before Christmas! IIRC it was the year Jon Douglas scored near the end to give us a 1-1 draw. I wondered if PG was the brains behind that magnificent gesture!

Bloody hell Peter. Why didn't you do that at Millwall the other week? lol ;) Really enjoyed the interview as I drove wife and daughter up to Luton Airport just now. Can confirm that you said you would greet Shepherds Bush goal with total silence. Liked how Tony Livesey entered into the spirit and also tried not to name Saturday's opposition. Listen to him most evenings. He's a good laugh (for a Burnley fan).

Yep! Odd game as for 80 percent of it we more than held our own and we’re better side . But demonstrated what a leap it was up to championship.

Wasn't that the game they also put Norwich fans in N500 of New Road?

Anyone got a link for BBC I Player or BBC Sounds, for PG's interview?

Yes we were excellent that evening - that game , Watford away and the Derby home win I feel gave us a reassurance that we belonged at this level. One key memory for me was a massive cross field pass in the Watford game that the newly arrived Jota took perfectly in his stride - a moment of magic I had never seen from. Bees player before. It’s fantastic that this is now a regular occurrence.

Will it be Peter on the pitch or Peter in a posh commentators box at Lionel Rd ?

He MUST be on the pitch so we know it is him and not a 'voice-a-like'!!!!!

Blimey! I have watched him on the pitch for 51 of my 67 years following the mighty Bees so it is too late to change now.

I have to say, the guy from Liverpool sounds a bit creaky, but Peter G still has an incredibly youthful-sounding voice. :D

Still pissing myself at Peter’s “COME ON BREEEEEENTFORD!” to an empty stadium before the 2nd half kicked off. Even the commentary team found it amusing. What a guy.

Mark B and the team do a great job during the match, but it would be great if we could just let Peter do his thing over iFollow before the match and during half-time

From what I could hear on iFollow, PG did everything he would have done had we all been there. When Ollie scored, Peter even mentioned the sponsorship. Was all great to hear and, of course, there were still quite a few in the ground who would have wanted nothing less - Matthew Benham, Cliff Crown, John Varney etc.

Said on Sky pre-match that he felt his responsibility was to represent 10,000 of us who couldn’t be there.
Given the circumstances, I’m happy to be represented by PG.
Great job as ever.

Absolutely!!!
Was thinking before the game how important it is to make home games as "normal" as possible during this run in....
Hence my question elsewhere about whether Hey Jude was played pre-match....
I totally trust our backroom team to have considered this during the break, and to have prepared us as much as possible both on and off the pitch....
In fact TF alluded to this in his post match interview tonight.....

Someone needs to buy a cable to plug the PA into iFollow. I'd like to hear more of him.

Did they change the 'matches to go' display at HT?

Peter Gilham speaking as eloquently as ever on BBC 5 Live just now.
Surprised he has a voice left after last night's performance. He was talking about Lionel Road with his normal passion. He was speaking to Krishnan Guru-Murthy who is apparently on the waiting list for a season ticket.
I suspect we are in for an unprecedented level of media interest over the next few days
