Pundits discussing free kick that led to Manure's goal.... don't know who said it but apparently it's a derby game and you can't give free kicks like that. Errr are the rules different for these games ? OK might have been quite harsh but the comments were laughable.

In the car listening to the 5 Live commentary on Chelsea v. Everton. Chelsea make a substitution (James for Mount) and summariser (ex-England ladies player) carefully explains James does not take up Mount's position but drops to holding while Gilmour, previously holding, moves to a position further forward. Then commentator, clearly not having listened to a word, says something like "I'm not sure how this will affect their positions" or some such waffle. Listen to your expert, moron.

I suspect it's dodgy journalism. I believe some additional funding from China was looked into 2/3 years ago to supplement what MB was bankrolling, but nothing more came of it. I don't believe 'selling' the club was ever on the agenda. Others on here will have more detail than me.

I think you are correct. The same old crap is churned out on Sky, whilst we are no longer under the radar in terms of what we are doing on the pitch, we are still so under the radar in terms of any real knowledge of our club and how we operate. It's so lazy many pundits out there are quite clearly stealing a living.

Listened to Merson doing occasional 'words' on SSN this evening for QPR v Fulham. I know some on here like him as he has said nice things about the Bees, but really, he was a total disgrace. Barely knew any of the players, mispronounced quite a few of the ones he could read, said about 5 seconds before Fulham's 2nd goal that QPR were the only team who would score again, then when Jeff asked him how long was left with a few minutes to go, he said he had no idea. Jeff told him in the end.

Bit pathetic really, given he's been paid to comment knowledgeably on that game this evening and nothing else.

I've never watched football on Sky but, yesterday evening, I was asked to record Man City v. Bournemouth, as it was free-to-air, so it could be watched after a certain more important game. Even with the benefit of being able to fast-forward through the first 30 minutes of pre kick-off nonsense and the half-time break, it was awful and I gave up watching it, mainly because the 'commentators' kept on with random drivel, especially some scouse who sounded like 'that bloke in the pub', contributing nothing, plus immediate replays of often nothing much that just interrupted the game. It made ITV's coverage seem almost acceptable.

Not really an inducement to subscribe; it didn't seem like football at all.

Watching Sky coverage of the new fixtures this morning made me wonder who does their research. One comment was that Bournemouth v Blackburn will be their first league meeting since 1988, they played in the same league in 2015! One other comment was about Doncaster losing to Wycombe in the play offs, Doncaster didn’t make the League 1 play offs!!!

Ever since I ‘invested’ in BT Sport, I’ve been saying the same. Mcmanaman is hopeless. For someone who played the game at the highest level, his knowledge of the game is virtually non existent. He makes Savage sound credible.

It's like that popular "we know all about Brentford and their quality/how they go about their business" line from the Sky/EFL commentators. Up to about 18 months ago you all thought we were Brentwood Town!

Written punditry by big Sam Allardice in today's FLP. As we were so close to promotion last season, we should be keeping all of last year's squad together to give us the best chance of doing it this season (referring to Ollie's transfer). Obviously has no idea as to why we do what we do, although "is very impressed about how we're run...". Accepts players will have an ambition to play in the PL, but why can't they stay and do it with Brentford(!). He obviously doesn't fully 'get' how we attract our new players. Probably doesn't know about our no dick heads policy. A dinosaur of the first order IMO.
