Agreed, plus he had a particular set of circumstances to deal with too. Not giving up on him yet.I’m very suprised ( or maybe not ) that people are writing him off so soon. It’s taken most of our foreign players quite a period of time to settle in. He’s hardly had anytime at all.
Absolutely agree, and where exactly is his position, bit of a mystery to me.a pretty disappointing performance and im finding it hard to find a reason why we bought him as adds nothing at the moment........is there a decent player in there ? im hoping so but he really needs to get fitter and look more interested
Very true but this is when he was in form and Last year we know he didn't play that much due to a suspension through a french sports courtHis YouTube highlights show a confident explosive, dynamic, direct attacking force. One moment of skill today on the edge of their box but is clearly nowhere near up to speed yet.
I certainly won't be writing him off yet but realistically we're nearly into December and he's shown nothing to make me think he's going to establish himself, virtually impossible to replace Said Benrahma like for like but to bring in a player who's hardly played over the last year is just baffling, before the heads in the sand brigade start with "He needs to be given time", you don't get that luxury in The Championship, even less so this season with the continuos flurry of games.I’m very suprised ( or maybe not ) that people are writing him off so soon. You are right of course. I think it is as much about his intent as the execution. He looks a neat and tidy player based on performances so far rather than a potential bag of tricks match winner. It is difficult to get up to speed and fit in Championship games. Bielsa would have had him on a fierce fitness regime punctuated with u23 games before he got anywhere near the first team. We don't really have that luxury.
Great analysis, I haven't been watching much of Brentford's game as i am watching 3,4 matches at the same time always. I fully agree with the way Brentford is playing right now is still from the sides, trying to get some cross in the hope toney scores or someone score on the rebound. I don't see much play through the middle and quite frankly I haven't seen saman ghoddos get balls passed to him that often ( or I have missed it ). I think the coach still hasn't really found a solution to play him and use him in the best way and it is also hurting Brentford as a team since there is no poison in the attack. Yes, Toney has scored an astonishing amount of goals per game ration at the moment I don't see much poison besides that. Ghoddos has to lose a little weight but not much because the championship is a physical league just as premier league but it shouldn't be an excuse to gass so early, I am not worried.. time is needed and the coaching staff clearly see something in him that either the players don't (pass wise) or the coach still hasn't found out where to correctly use him. IMO he should just ask some advice from potter since he basically knows saman ghoddos in and out, and in the world of coaching things like these do happen. Was really disappointed today. Assumed he was going to play as a 10 but ended up much further back when there were huge holes in front of the wycombe defence waiting to be taken advantage of.. We need to have that option of going central in the attacking third to mix things up a bit but we seem to have completely abandoned that at the moment in favour of wing play with wide players who are totally out of form or low on confidence. Players like Ghoddos you want to see in the final third, finding space, picking out passes and picking up on knock ons from Toney or mistakes from the defenders but we never got him into those spaces. As others have said he looks way off match fitness. Has shown some clever touches and passes but nowhere near enough yet. Hopefully the weight of the fine being lifted will inspire him to get himself back into shape...
Maybe. But if it’s public news BFC we’re aware when sorting the deal.
Excellent summary but Benrahma will sign for West Ham on 1 January. Goode has an injury at the moment. We’re not having much luck.So we can now summarise a big part of our current problem (affecting performance levels) to be that Canos and Ghoddos played little/no
football between Sept 2019 and the delayed start of this 20/21 season, coupled with the fact that Mbueno, Da Silva and a couple of others
played more football in the same period than ever before and had no close season to properly recover, for the current season where they are
being asked to play two games a week regularly. So half of them are undercooked and half are overcooked. Don't see that problem has been created by
Thomas or the DOF's, but the decision to loan out Dervisoglu and Zamburek seems to have been a poor one especially if there is no recall allowed in January.
I also don't understand why we have swapped Racic for Goode who clearly isn't very.
Man City might just be having the same undercooked/overcooked problems, so we are not alone. The bookies still think we will make the top six and they don't get it wrong very often. Perhaps West Ham will loan us back Benrahma for the second half of the season because he obviously isn't going to get much playing time with them this season.
