I think this was suggested a while ago - guess it depends with Halil being recalled whether we see him competing for a wide attacking role and therefore do we really need another player to fill the same gap?

Doesn’t mince his words does he? Funnily I think one of the best ways for Dembele to avoid Brentford’s interest is to do what he’s just done. I think our DoFs were probably privately pleased that Watkins and Toney didn’t bite their hands off for a move when we first approached and instead stayed loyal to their clubs. When the time’s right we let our guys move up and on but we wouldn’t be too happy if they openly agitated to move like this.

Imagine if League 1 gets suspended and then cancelled as it did last season. Dembele doesn’t want 6 months without football like Ivan so why not try to instigate a move in this window.

They won't sell him in this window. Could be a nice smokescreen while we pursue other targets but no way will McAnthony cave in to these kind of tactics IMO.

Think we can change this one to a rumour now! Toney doing more than scoring goals for us it seems!

That is from the Sun.. I'd imagine it'd take more than just a reference from Toney to persuade us to buy...

We must have a back up for Rico, letting DT go out on loan and leaving us short doesn't sound like us.

I don’t see us going for Dembele. I think we can do better personally and Posh will want ridiculous money anyway.

If anything, it's Fry or the player's agent trying to crank up the interest – the usual "Brentford are considering..." clickbait.

I would imagine Posh are the type of club you dont want to deal with in Jan. Inflated price springs to mind when i think about their owners.

Im not too sure about that. I reckon we still stick to a price/valuation.
Which is usually more than most clubs want to pay. There is no difference between what Posh did with Ivan and we did with Ollie and it's beautiful to see Brentford finally winning in the transfer market when selling players.

If it means it might boost our promotion hopes I think Benham and co would go for it
I doubt whether it's an 'all or nothing' decision. If we're looking at a number of players, then the value calculation is going to be quite complex and this particular one does not strike me as one who will boost out promotion hopes.

It's obvious we'd like him...which is why all those reports are crap IMO. Anyone could piece this one together.

He would *not* come cheap however, we can safely say that about Peterborough, in the same way you can say that about us.

Not convinced. Don't think he offers anything more than Fosu.

Well, he's got the end product I guess? Or at least has in League One. He's older than I expected at 24 so only a year younger than Fosu (and indeed Benhrama). I'd imagine we'd probably be looking for someone younger with more development potential..

Though maybe our age profile shift up slightly as we establish at top 2/PL and need players further along their development.

Darragh loves dealing with Brentford though - apparently gets on very well with Rasmus and likes the way we dont feck people/players about.

I think both us and Peterborough are straight dealers (Fry back in the day was more wheeler dealer but ultimately he’s someone who wants to get deals done that benefit his club- more fool anyone who gets caught by his patter when flogging a lemon but not a problem for us). If we have said we’re interested in a player we’re not going to do a West Ham.
