Based on form so far this season, and using AF's fee as a yardstick, how many of the squad vs F*lh*m would be valued at a 7 figure sum in the current over-inflated transfer market?

Most if not all?

Possible exceptions (due to age as much as anything else):

TC
TD (albeit with value rising exponentially based on current form!)
JD
SS
NP
JB
TS

Crazy to think that there are potentially so many £1m+ players in our squad!

By JB is assume you're not talking about Jake Bidwell? I would say he would be worth well over a million. I hope you mean Jack Bonham.

We wouldn't really ever sell or want to sell the older players (TC, JD etc) there experience is invaluable. The only way you tend to lose players at this type of age is if another team is offering a longer contract. Tony Craig is signed up but we just have to hope that we can meet JD's expectation in terms of salary and contract length.

Toumani would be an odd one to value. He is obviously performing very well at present but would need to perform much longer to be considered a million pound player. Especially considering his contract is also up at the end of the season which would lower his value. I hope personally we offer him a new contract around Christmas time to push away the leaches but he strikes me as the more loyal type and think he'd be delighted to sign a new deal.

Sadly Scott Hogan's value will have dropped a bit.

Rough guesses as follows:

** Button...........£0.2m

** Dean............£0.6m
** Craig ............£0.3m

Obviously players are worth whatever a buyer is willing to offer and some of these (such as Gray) might change almost week by week. But it's fun to speculate!

Moses and Andre are potential £5/6m players imho
several others not that far behind, it's a buyer's market and - as shown with Adam - we wont be mugged off with mickey mouse offers any longer
Sure we'll sell when the price is right but we now have the infastructure where, for example, if someone comes in for say Button in Jan we'll have someone lined up as and when
we are in such good shape i sometimes wonder if it's real ;)

I'd like to think we wouldn't let him go for £200,000!

I think FMJ has been quite conservative with his estimations, but fair play for posting the first comprehensive list. :sorted:

I think FMJ's estimates are way under MV.

Gayle went from Posh for a reputed 6m. If Andre keeps banging em in he'll have a similar value very soon

we have several serious assets on our hands, a lot of it at the "potential" stage but nonetheless mostly superb investments imo

Yes, I agree. But my list represents today's value. We are in the very enviable position of having a number of players (Bidwell, Moses, Tarko, Dean, Jota, Gray) with the potential to become really valuable in a fairly short space of time. For someone like Gray who is rapidly making a name for himself it is very difficult to estimate a value - another few months of regular scoring and he could suddenly be worth several million.

Incidentally I'm not suggesting that we should accept offers in line with these valuations. I'm merely saying that these are my estimates of what other clubs would currently be prepared to offer.

Wouldn't sell:

Dean for less than £2m
Tarkowski for less than £2m
Jota for less than £2m
Odubajo for less than £2m
Bidwell for less than £1.5m
Gray for less than £2.5m
Judge for less than £1m
Dallas for less than £750k
Button for less than £500k
Diagouraga for less than £1m - no one would spend that much on him but he's got so much quality that he's invaluable to the squad. We'd never find someone as good on the same wages and he's good for the dressing room.

Wouldn't sell at any price:

Douglas
Craig
Kev O'Connor

Would buy:

Toral for no more than £1.5m
Pritchard for no more than £4m
Betinho for no more than £650k

I think this list is vastly undervaluing some of our players. My list would be below:

There's not really been anyone who's been a complete dud (yes, even Big Nick who has done a reasonable job coming on for 5-10 mins at the end, we seem to have scored a fair number of very late goals with him on so at worst he lets us keep playing out way, cf Grigg who did nothing wrong but changed our shape so much that we almost never looked capable of scoring when he was on).

But what we have seen is the team performing well as a team so that individual errors are compensated for. So the value of the team is far in excess of the prices of the individual players. Gray has had less than half a season but we couldn't replace him with similar quality to what he's provided so far without spending £5m+. JD and Toums would garner low six figures at best each but similarly couldn't be replaced without spending big.

Let's give them all a couple of seasons and then do a Southampton, selling each for crazy money and then coming out almost ludicrously stronger!

Some interesting figures being estimated on here. I think Andre is probably/potentially the biggest jewel in the crown because pace, strength and natural finishing is so difficult to discover. He is the one that I could see a Premier League side being willing to take a punt on for £5m-£6m (and yes unfortunately £5m is only a punt for most of the PL sides now). What also will not be lost on any potential buyer is the speed in which he has jumped up 3 levels, again this lessens the risk as far as a PL is concerned.

Jota, Moses and Tarky are potentially not far behind in terms of value if they continue to develop.

I suspect some people are confusing the fees we would demand with the fees we would be offered!

There's also quite a bit of wishful thinking going on. Gray, for example, was worth £250k six months ago. Now, six goals later, people think he's worth millions. He's a good prospect and may well go on to become as valuable as that. (In fact I rather think he will). But, today?? I dare say if we were willing to part with him right now (we're not!) we'd probably find a buyer willing to shell out somewhere around £750k. Of course, that might change very quickly if he carries on scoring.

Goalkeepers, however good, seldom cost really big money. David Button is a decent performer but I don't think he'd generate offers of £950k if we put him on the market.

But, never underestimate the stupidity of desperate football managers. Every so often someone does something really crazy - like £11m for Ross McCormack or £4m for Adam Forshaw - both very good players but not quite the massive superstars their inflated fees might suggest. So, yes, I wouldn't completely rule out someone offering silly money for Gray in January. Football does have a habit of making fools of sensible people!

What I reckon we could get:

Button: 250k
Bidwell: 2.1m
Dean: 875k
Craig: 175k
Moses: 2m
Douglas: 200k
Dave: 175k
Judge: 1.1m
Gray: 1.5m
Dallas: 800k
Jota: 2m
Tarky: 900k
MacCormack: 300k
Tebar: 400k
Saunders: 150k

So if we were to sell the whole team individually we would get around 13m but together the squad is priceless.
Only concern would be losing Bidwell, a very consistent all round good player. or button (which is unlikely)

According to http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-brentford/startseite/verein/1148 the value of the squad is £11.7 million. Only Rotherham has a lower value. At the top there is Norwich at £56 million, followed by Cardiff at £52 million. Given that the value of the squad is a reasonable predictor of league position this just shows how well we are doing at present.

Caution the value of squads are very hard to estimate accurately but perhaps this does broadly show relative values.

Sure is but shows quite well relative values. We may not be next from bottom but we are miles away from the top clubs, and of course parachute payments help a lot. In boxing terms we are fighting above our weight. How long can we maintain this is the question. We are not poor, have a team that does find outstanding value and provides top notch coaching but other clubs can draw upon much more money to get players. They can make mistakes that we can't afford to do. Yet some richer clubs do get it wrong. Still a big ask to maintain our present league position. Cynic me but there are only two ways to solve any football problem, the first is money, if that fails try the second way , more money.

Our squad is worth significantly more than the sum of the parts. Down to Warbs and the backroom team.

Only worth what somebody is prepared to pay.... We are no longer a cheap selling in so who cares what individuals may or may not be worth save that for championship manager and used the time saved to knock one out over the next matchday programme centre fold

Gray as a now virtually proven Championship striker must already be worth over £2m plus add ons, not that I can see us selling him. If he keeps his scoring record up you can double that by May.

Same goes for Button IMHO, he has really stepped up and is looking very accomplished at this level, no real idea what keepers go for but certainly more than a couple of £100k

Is it actually a reasonable predictor of league position though? Particularly from that website. It has Nick Prowschitz and Marcos Tebar as two of our most valuable players?!? I can understand that a more valuable team will generally do better, but where that website gets their values from I have no idea as they are, at best, horrendously outdated.
