Roeslev - Pinnock - Goode - Gordon

--- Stevens --

Ghoddos -- Zamburek

Halil - Forss - Fosu

Its a toss up with Mads/Pinnock - but i think the experience of Pinnock is required.

Also Ghoddos keeps his place as likely to be dropped for Swansea when Josh returns...

Thoughts?

Think you need an experienced head at the back so give Sorensen a rest and opt for Pinnock.

Ideally you’d rest Janelt and Henry but no fit first team options in reserve.

Personally don’t think Leicester is a game for Gordon, Stevens, Gilbert etc as you don’t want to get hammered and wreck the team’s confidence.

Agree with this team apart from Henry. Wouldn’t want to risk him and it’s pretty inevitable that we need him for every league game if possible. Perfect chance to rest him. Maybe Fosu can play RB and Roselev LB if Gordon isn’t ready for these types of games.

We looked like we needed the game time, particularly in midfield so would stick with most of them. Bring in some fringe players. Prob not a game for too many B teamers. Hopefully Marcondes might be available? Will assume not though at the mo..

Daniels, Roerslev, Goode, Pinnock, Henry, Janelt, Jensen, Ghoddos, Fosu, Forss, Dervisoglu.

Subs: Raya, Dalsgaard, Sorenson, Canos, Gilbert, Zamburek, Pressley, Mbeumo, Gordon

Isn't there an argument after this evening that maybe a few more first teamers should be played for at least some of the game to get their fitness levels up and to get back used to competitive football? Is it really such a good thing for so many of them to have only played one game since Spurs going into an away game at Swansea.

Totally agree, we need to be ready for the Swansea game, so hopefully not to many rested. We have had 2 weeks off.

Ideally would rest more but we have a shortage of midfielders at the moment. Would definitely rest Janelt as every game is a war for him it seems.

I reckon this is very close to being the team, if not the team. Having said that I expect Sørensen to play.

With many of the team looking tired in the second half last night and with a massive game at Swansea next week, I don’t really care who plays v Leicester as long as the decision making is informed to make us as strong as possible for next Wednesday.

3 points at Swansea is FAR more important than the outcome of the Leicester game.

Why are people suggesting Janelt plays in this game!? He is the first name on my 'must rest' list, particularly while CN is out! Sure, there is not an obvious replacement at defensive mid but Stevens was OK there in the last round so happy to go with him there again.

This one will be totally dependent on the medical staff and who they think needs a game , needs a rest etc.
Difficult to call but a few certain starters :

Daniels
Fosu
Forrs
Dervi
Goode
Ghoddos
Zamburek

That'll do for me - want as few of the first team regulars playing as possible, we might get humped but Swansea is a far bigger game

Fitness levels are low which is understandable after the break therefore we need to play our first eleven bar Toney.

We’ve got about 6 weeks of 2-3 games a week coming up. Fitness will come through that and as with the similar pre-Christmas run, the issue will be managing fatigue and injury risk much more than hitting peak fitness. If we target quickly reaching peak fitness it might give us results in the next couple of league games while having us running on empty for the next half dozen. I think TF would rather we play competitively throughout even if that means we don’t blow away Swansea. Those disappointing draws against them, Norwich, etc earlier look much better in the context of 16 unbeaten.

Good point, I am short sighted.

Interesting that (a few posters aside) there seems to be more of a general consensus that people are ‘happier’ to put out a weakened side this time around v Leicester than they were at the same stage last season. Particularly considering we’re in an almost identical position League wise, with a big game to follow, as we were last season........
Presume this is a combination of having already had a good cup run, and less of a ‘novelty’ factor having played Leicester last year......

For reference here is the team we played in the same fixture last season (along with Sky player ratings):

Daniels (7), Thompson (7), Racic (6), Jeanvier (6), Roerslev (6), Yearwood (7), Mokotjo (5), Valencia (6), Marcondes (8), Dervisoglu (6), Zamburek (7)

Can we field a team as strong as this?

After last nights second half performance we need to play as many first team players as possible. We were dead on our feet after a hour and we need to get match fitness back up.

Some players need to sharpen their game, and others who can be rested, should be.

Daniels
Roerslev
Goode
Sorensen
Gilbert
Janelt
Jensen
Marcondes/Zamburek
Dervisoglu
Forss
Fosu

After 55-65 minutes (irrespective of the score) I would want to see those who aren't starting but need time to sharpen up come on. Janelt/Jensen probably come off. This is a great chance to give peripheral players or those coming back to form to get game time. The only ones I would want to get the full game time are Daniels, Roerslev, Goode, Sorensen, Zamburek, Forss & Fosu. Shame Racic is injured. I think Jensen needs sharpening up though he improved his passing towards the end of last night's game. Ghoddos could start instead of Jensen if he doesn't need to sharpen up. Really looking forward to seeing some of the players.

My gut tells me it'll be something like:

Daniels
Roerslev - Goode - Pinnock - Gordon
Zamburek - Ghoddos - Stevens
Dervisoglu - Forss - Fosu

Subs - Shepperd, MBS, Gilbert, Haygarth, Janelt, Pressley, Canos, +2 B team (or maybe not!)

Marcondes to come in for Gilbert if he's available. So only 2 changes from the Boro game with Goode replacing MBS and Zamburek replacing Gilbert.

Not a bad team but Leicester has a lot of depth and they put out a strong team against Stoke. They probably think they have a real shot at winning the cup and will take it seriously.

Adams- Forss - Fosu

Full rotation - B teamers like Gilbert, Brook etc will be on the bench

I think the game being behind closed doors makes a difference as well. Takes a lot of the emotion out of it

Stronger I would've thought.
