US Masters 2021 (5 Viewers)

With only 5 months between the 2020 Masters in November and this one in its regular time, a back to back win might be more likely. Dustin Johnson won in November by leading from round 1 and won by 5 shots and finishing on 20 under par. Firmer greens will make them less like target golf but will help increase the length of drives.

In the last 10 years all winners have been ranked in the top 30 in the world.
So I have picked 3 lesser known names from the top 30 who have already done well at Augusta without winning.

3 bets on:-
Cameron Smith ranked 30 4x Masters appearance, 2 Top 5 finishes including Tied 2nd in 2020
28/1 each way with Skybet who pay 11 places 1/5 odds

Xander Schauffele ranked 6 3x Masters appearances, best finish Tied 2nd in 2019
20/1 each way with Skybet (11 pl 1/5)

Sungjae Im ranked 19 only 1 Masters appearance but a great tied 2nd in 2020
30/1 each way with Skybet (11 pl 1/5)

I’m going to be completely boring and go for Dustin Johnson. I think he’s taken time out and prepared properly.
I won’t be having a bet because those days are long gone, but last time I looked he was 9/1 and that looks like good value.

Whilst Dechambeau is a strange one and his big hitting on my mind is to the detriment of golf it has to be recognised that his short game and putting are very respectable. With a hard dry course he could be looking at very low scores as likely to be in Birdie country on numerous holes.

...you're right....his short game is very good....but if he spends most of Augusta chopping it out the woods.....he'll just be scrambling for par....ain't gonna get the job done.......still think he's just a flat track bully....we'll see.

He will never get over that final round at Augusta about 10 years ago when he threw away a 4 shot lead and shot about 80. I think he's just changed coach too. I just saw him lump it into the water. A famous commentator once said 'you can't win the Masters in round one but you can lose it.' Rory won't be troubling the leaderboard on the final day.

Such a talented individual, but perhaps should worry less about trying to emulate De Chambeau and trying to smash it 350 yards off the tee and concentrate on accuracy. He was a much better player a few years ago.

Well done Justin Rose 2 over after 7 holes, then an eagle at the 8th and he picks up 9 shots over the last 11 holes to finish on 7 under, and a 4 shot lead.
Funny how momentum can change in sport

Love this event but its a brutal time for me and with the coverage of the first 2 rounds still so restricted (WHY???) I only saw a couple of groups and the odd shot of other groups (mostly Rory messing up) before I had to go to sleep. I done Spieth, Xander and Rahm ew so all in the mix behind Rosey. Where has he been? Obviously wont be easy to hang on all weekend but if he is playing well he has proved he can win a major. Great to see Lowry under par also, top guy.

They ‘lost’ the rights to broadcast live coverage of the Masters at the end of 2019. I’m surprised they clung to it as long as they did to be honest but it’s a big loss. However, I can live with the Masters not being on free-to-air but for The Open not be is an absolute scandal in my opinion. Should be a Category A event in Ofcom’s Listed Events along with a few others - The Ashes being another.
