This is all leading towards a 1-0 win for Wigan.
Yep. It's going to be like the Brum game. All us. Hitting the woodwork 4 times, missing a pen, and they score a fluke header from the halfway line in the last minute.

Dave Whelan back to rescue them maybe?
Absolutely now way, IMO. He spots a sinking ship a mile off and bails out safely at the earliest opportunity. JJB Sports, Wigan Athletic. Won't want anything to do with it. Past it anyway.

And his broken leg is probably giving him grief too

Football rivalry aside this stinks. The EFL are amateurs and have been conned . Look up Jay Whittle on Twitter.

Now Chiswick (proud to be a YIMBY)
"International Entertainment Corporation, fronted by professional poker player Stanley Choi, sold their stake [in Wigan] for £17.5million last month to another Hong Kong-based company, which was majority-owned by the same man at the time of the deal."

Who'd trust a professional poker player to own a football club? :fishing:

The Telegraph reporting that the Administrators 'have to find funds' for wages, and also travel costs for this Saturday's match against us. Reading between the lines, that means no travelling the day before, with a hotel stay overnight. Not the ideal preparation for the match!
They travelled down today. Presumably cancelling now wouldn't save any money. However, if I owned the hotel I would want the money paid before handing-over any room keys!

Are there any hotels open before tomorrow (other than for key workers)?

I've heard that the betting angle to this is incredibly unlikely.

Yeh that’s the big worry, creates an extra sense of ‘togetherness’, siege mentality if you like.. we’ve just got to go out and play our normal game..

Blimey, if true i hope wigan are dealt with sensibly. I dont see why they should be punished if something so outrageous has gone down. Sounds like the EFL havnt done their duty
Its nothing to do with the efl.the new owners would have had the cash and no criminal record that's all they need. Maybe Dave Whelan should be asking himself some questions....bored of the efl getting blamed for dodgy owners....anyone who sells out to people in China are mad...I'm glad we didn't take any investment from them

I would say Brentford players will be up for it tomorrow and don't need to go on Twitter to confirm this.

Having said all this I for one think Wigan have done wonders over the years and wish them luck going forward.

Won't do us any favours if they don't finish the season and their results are expunged. :(
Hopefully it will be a long time before that happens,

How long did Bolton drag on for, or Bury for that matter. How long has Macclesfield dragged on for?

...hmmm....you'd like to think the EFL will do everything in their power to make sure Wigan complete the season....non completion surely not an option.

If any of this is true, then yet again the EFL have failed in their fit and proper persons test!
Always blaming the efl....what about the family of Dave Whelan who sold to this lot...I've no sympathy for these clubs anymore

I may be wrong so apologies if so but I thought the Whelan family sold to a Chinese consortium but that they sold it on some 4/5 weeks before the club went into administration.

Seems to me that this is far more to do with getting rid of liabilities by sharp practices rather than anything else

This article is over two years old.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/feb/07/dave-whelan-wigan-athletic-sale-hong-kong-iec
The last paragraph reads....
"If a sale is agreed, the Football League would have to approve the purchase, certifying that IEC has the money to buy the club and would be a “fit and proper” owner for Wigan Athletic."

Rating is "very unlikely" by those that should know about these things.

25% chance according to the administrator.
25% chance they will or 25% chance that they won't?

And if they don't given what effect does that have on promotion/relegation further down the pyramid

What if they don't complete the season and their playing record expunged, how will that affect things?
I said this on the 1st. So it is a possibility now. Should we worry.

At this stage I suspect they will just award 1-0 wins. It will probably be the most uncontentious way of proceeding.

On the evidence of 2020 to date, the answer would be- “What do you want them to say?”
To which the answer may well be, depends on who is asking?
