I'll start.
We have lots of average keepers. (Trafford for me).
We are short of quality full backs and limited central defenders. (Need Reece James).
We have an abundance of midfielders so who will miss out.
Kane should NOT be captain.

KLP? Similar in some respects to Chilwell who defended ok for England and provided a good attacking threat.

I'm not sure but it feels like a weaker squad this year than the Southgate ones,

I guess as an 11 it would look like this for me if they're all fit, but my guess is a few haven't played enough minutes this season (Stones)

I'd risk John Stones if he's fit, if James isn't fit we're in trouble so I'd take Alexander Arnold to help break down the 11 men behind the ball teams.

I think players such as Rogers and Palmer are very strong midfield subs and of course i'd take JH for obvious.

As mentioned above, it feels a little like Southgate used our previous "golden generation" and didn't quite get us there, I do feel like this one is a little weaker with a lot of fairly overrated Premier League players making the cut.

The X factor this World cup probably wont be a player, it may well be Thomas Tuchel.

Technically you’re correct. Show me someone describing a team losing in the final as petering out in the knock stages. 😂

Per my original comment, I meant at around the QF stage. Probably one for Football Cliches to clarify at what stage in knock out football can a team be considered to have petered out

Madueke often more end product than Saka for me ,not saying hes a better player but often newer faces often make more impact. Probably better for squad if Foden doesnt go as just seems to confuse picking an effective no 10.Need some pace at the back since Walker retired,probably rules out Stones.Hendo in of course.

I’d go Konza for Stones.

Not sure if we are having a separate discussion area for the 2026 World Cup so I've created a new thread here (mods feel free to move as you see fit).

TT names his squad tomorrow so are there any shocks or surprises in store? I don't think he can take all our number 10s so I'll predict no Cole Palmer although Bellingham has had an injury plagued and quite frankly poor season so he will be fortunate to be named IMHO

I would always have said so, but it's pretty strange that he recently signed a contract extension to take him until the Euro2028 Finals.

Hendo getting the usual dogs abuse on BBC comments section, as article says he's expected to be in the squad.

6 months ago, I'd have told all of them to do one but now I'll quietly wish him well and hope his involvement (whatever that may be) and influence is good for the squad.

Now... if he fancies bundling in the winner on Sunday, I may send some late replies to the idiots in that comments section.

The FA plans to announce the squad on a live show via a new official England app, with Kyle Walker hosting with Daniel Sturridge and Theo Walcott as guests. They will be joined by Tuchel, who will speak for the first time about his squad selection before facing questions from the traditional media outlets.
