They're a respectable enough side normally. The most recent FIFA World rankings had them 16th, sandwiched between Switzerland and Japan. I think that's a bit generous but would probably put them on a par with mid ranking European teams like the Czechs and Scots. They were just particularly poor tonight. It looked like they were frazzled by all the controversy. I've got some sympathy for the team, and particularly Balogun himself, because it wasn't their fault but hey, karma and all that

As I said on here yesterday, its only the Western democracies, countries where corruption and kick backs aren't just seen as a normal and inevitable part of doing business, that are outraged by Infantino. To much of the rest of the world its just standard operating procedure. I do get the sense that FIFA and UEFA are on course for a massive fallout. Its not too difficult to conceive of a situation where UEFA actually breaks away entirely.
