Didn’t see that coming, they’re in the market for Welbeck too apparently

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Not too surprised if he goes but very surprised if he went to Chelsea.

What are they smoking out there?

He would certainly need replacing though.

They were close to signing Xaka earlier in window, clearly want some experienced leaders in and around the young group

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Wouldn’t be surprised after he did his long winded love in with the scousers and remembered there were Brentford fans there too - he did look like he was saying goodbye to the bees staff imo.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Bizarre all round.

With respect to Jordan, especially given his age, I wouldn’t have thought anyone higher than us would be interested in him.

Linked to Welbeck too, clearly they’re freaking out over now having too young a squad and now need old heads.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

He’d leave with my thanks but I think this is a decent result for the bees.
Agree. I really hope there is a younger, faster replacement lined up for him. He'd be nothing more than a sub next year imo.

No surprise to me if he leaves after a year. Going to Chelsea would be a surprise though.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Good luck to him , I'd be happy with that.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Maybe the injury is worse than initially thought and having his wages off the book is useful. Must be a CM replacement coming along. Hendo did well for us during the first phase of the season but his legs started to go badly in the run in.

Only if we replace him, right? He hasn't been a negative for us so why would losing him be a result by itself?

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

I think with Duff joining the coaching that’s blocked any hopes of him being part of that group.Plus too many chiefs maybe

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Odd decision. Served a purpose with Norgaard leaving - especially first half of the season!

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Gets a relatively high wage iff the wage bill, freeing up cash for incomings.

I personally thought he was very impressive in the early games with some great distribution leading to goals, but post Jan onwards I wasn’t as convinced he was adding much to our XI and not convinced he would feature that much this season.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

I suppose he's at the stage in his career where he needs to drop down the league to get minutes. Assume he played with Alonso at Liverpool too

Nope I think him and Alonso missed each by 2 seasons

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

As much as off pitch I’m sure he makes a difference, his wages probably high & in all honesty on pitch I don’t think he really makes that much difference…

Not really that bothered.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

It strikes me of a similar move to Eriksen’s.
A last chance of another move, World Cup participated in and reputation restored from the Saudi PR disaster.
We are very good at getting a year or so out of very good pros.
Eriksen, Mee, now Henderson. Add Callum Wilson to this list.
It grows our reputation of signing quality for the player and us as well as serving mutual benefits.
We have a ‘6’ space to fill with Hickey and Yarmo prime candidates if we can get another older head in for the dressing room to play alongside when required and to guide them.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

They wanted Xhaka and are after Welbeck so not that surprising, I guess. Alonso has clearly said he wants leadership and experience. Would be good for both parties.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Lining up for a future coaching role at Chelsea? Purely from a playing pov I can't see the logic of it.
Doubt it he'll go back up north when his career is over. As we saw with Saudi he'll go anywhere for a wage. Personally don't see it as any type of loss as he's long past his best

We finished above Chelsea last season but i know what you mean.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Not bothered from an on pitch perspective but leaves a bit of a void again in terms of leadership of it.

I think we have seen leadership growth from the likes of Janelt and Ajer in the last year and the squad is not really that young or inexperienced.

They also understand the club much better than Henderson. I never got the impression he was fully on board.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Dont mind it. He didn’t have an earth shattering season with us, but I think a lot of people disregard/forget how well he started last season, helping us to great results vs Chelsea and United. Regardless I don’t see us relying much on him this season, and I think it’s the right decision to not stand in his way.

This does give me hope we’re on the lookout for a proper DM signing for the first team.

Jordan Henderson (Chelsea or elsewhere)

Good news IMO. He did ok last season but he shouldn't be a starter and if it frees up a squad space and removes a (presumably) higher earner from the wage bill then it makes a lot of sense.
