No great surprise - we've clearly just said you can go with our blessing rather than acting like dicks and trying to get a fee for a 36 year old who joined on a free transferSo the club get no fee
Doubt we would get much for him anyway, I’m happy with it. Was good for the squad to come in but with other midfielders coming back and a new one on the horizon now is the right timeSo the club get no fee
If only there was a rumour about getting an all-action, tough-tacking midfielder who can spot a pass and score a few goals…Frees up a big monthly salary to get another important player in I HOPE,,,,
Shut the door on the way out, Jordan. Don't over-exercise your one good wrist.Has the ‘Teams like Brentford’ vibe. We are not good enough for him. We were convenient last season.
A number of positives for the club with him moving on
What's Keith said?Think the words from Keith are the most pertinent and carry a slightly different message to all others.
That’s covered by Insurers of the England squadHopefully Chelsea cover the treatment for his hand, otherwise I don’t know if we can afford Sangare
Amongst the tributes on here. What's Keith said?
Why did he join us then?Since he left Liverpool he has made several decisions all about one thing...
Greed
Got him to the World Cup etc, his off field leadership will probably be missed but that’s all.Has the ‘Teams like Brentford’ vibe. We are not good enough for him. We were convenient last season.

He was very bad against Liverpool, off pitch stuff notwithstanding. Was a really important game for us and he put in a stinker.Hard to think of a stand out performance, but he was never bad. I was worried a 2 year deal was too long last summer, a 2 year deal until 2028 is madness!

Thought it was a good signing though questioned two years at the time. Turned out it was a good signing (despite what a few people think) and only one year so no complaints from me. Added experience at a time we really needed it but in all honesty faded after his injury.

He prefers Chelseas 200k a week over our 80k?Think the words from Keith are the most pertinent and carry a slightly different message to all others. "Taking into consideration Jordan’s ambitions and where our squad is currently, we both felt it was the right time for Jordan to pursue his career elsewhere". He preferred Chelsea's bench over ours then.
Pure guesswork from me but I wouldn’t be surprised if he told interested clubs he was only interested in offers of 2 year deals rather than 1.Hard to think of a stand out performance, but he was never bad. I was worried a 2 year deal was too long last summer, a 2 year deal until 2028 is madness!
Nasty and unneccessary. Sign of the times I'm afraid. Some weirdly nasty posts on here about a bloke who gave his all for us and provided valuable leadership when we needed it at the start of the season.
I'm not gutted he's left but still wish him the best in the future.
I think he would already be comfortable enough without the extra few million! He's looking after his future. Good luck to him. Anyone with any sense at his age would do the same.
Well said. I reckon he was an excellent role model for the older players, too, with his application to his job and his own standards on full display to everyone at the training ground, staff included. He came at a time when we needed some stability following the Summer upheaval, he provided that and was an excellent role model for our youngsters.
Letting him go for nothing, despite having a year on his contract is not unsurprising, unlikely to get much game time and on decent wage, so best for all parties and the message of fairness it sends won’t do us any harm in future transfer negotiation's
His role in keeping us afloat at the start of last season is probably underestimated, and he looked class at first. But the rest of the squad stabilised and overtook him as he dropped off. He was our worst regular player by the end of the season. All the best to him but no real loss.
