Would love to know if KLP is on Tuchel's 55-player preliminary World Cup squad submitted today. Speculation about a few names on it in BBC Sport app. There are bound to be a few uncapped players in there because of the size of the squad and KLP certainly deserves to be there for his versatility and quality of performance over the past two seasons in particular.

“The support for that decision was in contrast with what the KMI panel believed were three missed interventions across matchweek 35.

The first of those came in West Ham United’s damaging 3-0 loss to Brentford when it was found that Tomas Soucek had been fouled by Keane Lewis-Potter inside the penalty area.

The incident was missed by both referee Craig Pawson and the VAR but the KMI panel, voting 5-0, said Lewis-Potter had held Soucek in a “non-footballing action”. The unanimous decision was that West Ham should have been given a penalty and a potential lifeline.

I'm interested where KA sees KLP playing this season. When full back options and possible signings are mentioned, he's largely ignored. When wide forward options are listed, he also rarely gets a mention. He's probably a victim of his own versatility but I think his form has been excellent for about two years now and he's way too good to just be filling in around the park when others are injured or subbed off. So where's he going to play? I'm not a big fan of having a right footed LB but must admit he's played very well there. I suspect he could be an excellent RB but obviously no vacancy there.

He's like a much better version of Saman Ghoddos, LB RB LW RW ST AM, just a reliable guy to plug the gaps. Unfortunately there's now not many gaps to plug. Still I think he could be preferred to the backup options at at least LB LW and RW, so he's only one injury away from being a strong contender to start

Judging the injury record of our other full backs, I wouldn't be surprised to see KLP start 20+ games there this season.

Maybe he'll never be quite exceptional enough in any position to be the undisputed main main, but we all know his strengths, and he's pretty much a senior player for us these days.

I've never worried after seeing him on the teamsheet at LB. Specialist left backs aren't easy to find, so we take him 'filling in' for granted.

I hope Keith and the coaches fix a position for him; I think if he trains there and is given a run in the right wide attacking berth, probably to rotate with Ouattara, he will be a big contributor to our season.

KLP is an asset to this squad.
He never let's the squad down, whatever position he plays.
With Damien Duff now part of the management team, he will be assisting with the coaching and helping him with his decision making for that final delivery.
Stay free of injury (that goes for all) and have a great 26/27 season!

100% agree. The lad effectively gives us two positions. When he’s in defence it’s like we have an extra attacker in the pitch as he runs up and helps but always tracks back to do his core job. Like having 12 players. His work rate is very good. Great asset.

He's versatile enough to play anywhere. I actually think he'd also be a very good midfielder. My concern with the idea that he's some kind of Ghoddos 2.0 is that he eventually gets hacked off with it and wants to leave. I know he has a long contract but it's possible his head could be turned if he feels like he can't progress to the England squad, which I think is a realistic ambition, because he's seen as a jack of all trades and master of none.

The last two seasons have cemented in my mind that his best position for us is left back. His ball carrying at pace and his close control is superb, he offers an extra attacking outlet and delivery from left back that we don't get with Rico IMO. His defensive ability has been the real surprise though.

He just doesn't offer as much as LW.

My question would be though, if the club now primarily see KLP as a LB, why were they bidding for the West Ham guy, when we also have Rico and Hickey?

So if KLP has cemented himself as LB why did Rico play there when he was fit? and why are we bidding for the West Ham guy?. My theory is that KLP is seen by the club as a WB and they are now looking to the future when Rico is no longer at the club.
I do believe that Rico is still the best LB at the club and with him and KLP in the side we are well covered on that side of the pitch

In my mind i.e. my opinion.

Presumably because Rico is class especially defensively and rapid, offering different strengths for different opponents.

And I hope we are always looking to upgrade even our favourite players (see also Ethan, for instance)

I actually think that, too. I think he looks a lot like early James Milner: he's a good attacker but lacks to out and out pace to challenge most FBs, while his workrate is incredible.

I'd think he'd be a fantastic player in the middle of the park.

I think the Milner comparison is a good one. Going from my memory of 20-plus years ago, I think he started as a winger but later on played most games in midfield and full back.

So… there’s no agreement on Lewis-Potter’s position, then. Surely, the coaching staff will have a specific position that they believe is his best, will train for and that should be his future, regardless of where he’s filled-in in the past?

I think having KLP and Hickey on the bench offers great cover across numerous positions. But having KLP as a starter at LB or LW is also something I'm comfortable about as he's a brilliantly versatile squad member and also provides flexibility in game should he start at LW and need to fill in at LB. His long throws will be an added benefit this season too with the new rules about how long you have to take a throw in. In my opinion he should be one of the first players to be named in the 20 man matchday squad.

Seem to forget he actually a wide forward.

Never really had a chance to shine in that position.

Didn't realise KLP has a long throw. Dont think Ive ever seen it

I only noticed in the last few games of last season how long it was. He's not quite at MK levels but I'd argue it's definitely longer than the efforts we've seen previously from both Pinnock and Jensen.

It's not just distance though - it's pace and trajectory. The reasons Kayode's are so dangerous is because they come in low and fast enough to make a near-post flick a viable tactic. If they come in on a slow arc then it's just heading/catching practice for the ooposition.

Been in the gym. Body strength which was increasing last season, certainly gone up again.

I think the answer to the ‘Who starts at LWB’ was emphatically answered today . KLP looked strong, confident and connected to the team . Unfair to pass too much judgement on Rico when he came on with a very different line up but looked hesitant and was surprisingly beaten for pace quite easily on his first one on one . Both great players but KLP seems to have really stepped up - very positive signs !

The modern full back / wing back.
You can tell that the Mbeumo style cut in from the right or left is gonna be honed this season.
This will be, barring injuries, KLPs most significant tally in assists and goals this season.
You could see the improvement today just in movement and confidence.
Rico will be having to push hard to force his way back in.
KLP and Kayode are the starters and Rico and Hickey even when fit will have to be bide their time and be ready and waiting.
