Kizkis. Tearle put the ball through for Ashley Cheatley who has two consecutive shots very well saved by the Eastbourne keeper. The ball breaks to Kiszkis who pits it away.

Cheatley has a shot well defended and deflected out for a corner. The resulting corner has a Kiszkis header well saved.

Good finish from the Eastbourne player after we lost position on the left side. A bouncing ball beats Louvrier and and Eastbourne finish well on the right.
In fairness Eastbourne have deserved that.

Considering Eastbourne brought quite a few, (maybe a quarter), I’d say the attendance was a bit low. But might take some time to get a new group of regulars.

FT 4-1 (HT 2-1)
New Season, a New Ground, plenty of new faces, both on and off the pitch; a feeling of rebirth and a new era for Bees. A feeling of optimism around the ground that was possibly missing at times last season.
You really feel that the club want the Uxbridge partnership to work. Same could be said of Uxbridge too. Whether that optimism continues, only time will tell. Few small issues to iron out, both on and off the pitch. But the signs are looking good for this new era.
On a blistering hot day, you felt that early season fitness and fatigue would prove to be key. Eastbourne started at a blistering pace, supported by a strong and loud away following. You felt that Bees decided to ride that early energy out and then pounce as Eastbourne wiltered.
We took the lead slightly against the run of play and you could see some of the Eastbourne players drop their shoulders as all that early energy had come to nothing. Bees grew in confidence and started to play more expansively and on another day, Cheatley may have had a first half hat-trick.
The Eastbourne equaliser came in-turn, somewhat against our run of play. A defensive error on our part gave Eastbourne the chance and it was a tremendous finish from their player. This time our shoulders dropped, and if this was the team of last year, you may have then worried that we would lose focus. However, a new steel in the centre of the park led by Rhian Cleverly, Abbi Smith & Kate Gilligan and assisted by Bees favourite Maddie Phillips, shows this new Bees will have more sting within them.
Yes the team will still need to sharpen up and shake loose those summer cobwebs. There is still questions around our defence and we need to be touch more clinical in our finishing, but the body is there and in place. Will have to see how the next few games play out to find out how strong Eastbourne are in the league, but I expect them to be more then capable at this level and well clear of making a return drop to tier 6.
Wiktoria Kiszkis was excellent today and deserved her brace today. Both Katie Gilligan and Abbi Smith were great in the middle and Rebecca Teale put in so many lovely crosses. You really feel this could be an excellent team.
Slight concern that Asees Sangha went off looking very much in discomfort. Ashley Cheatley was also withdrawn early and even Kiszkis had a late prolonged spell with the physio. Let’s just hope they are all just early season precautions than anything more serious.
Was also nice that the players made effort to applaud the fans and be available to talk after the game. That connection was missing at times last season, so hopefully a reconnection is all part of this new positive feeling. First game, lots of positivity. Let’s hope we keep that positive vibes and momentum right through to May.

Brentford Women enjoyed a 4-1 London and South East Premier win over Eastbourne Borough at Honeycroft on Sunday. Wioktoria Kiszkis starred with a brace, while Ashley Cheatley and Abbi Smith also got on the scoresheet.

Brentford buzzed at the Honeycroft, securing a great win against newly promoted Eastbourne Borough, who last lost a league game in October 2024.
Eastbourne Borough’s winning mentality meant they were always in the game despite the final scoreline. The two teams matched each other for effort, skill and with their perfect tackles with neither side leaving anything on the pitch.
The Bees playing a 3-5-2 formation, transitioned a lot faster than last season, creating more options from themselves up front in the process and took their goal scoring opportunities clinically.
The impressive early season crowd, boosted by a noisy contingent from the South coast, enjoyed the fast flowing, and skilful performances that both sides delivered as they fought out this highly entertaining encounter.
Both defences were tested from the kick off, the Bees attacking style creating multiple threats for the Sports defence to deal with as the ball was played out wide to Asees Sanga on the left, Rebecca Teale on the right, through the middle to Ashley Cheatley or across to Wiktoria Kiszkis, who was immense in the air and dominated the Shots box with her heading prowess.
The Bees took the lead in the 23rd minute when Rebecca Teals put through Ashley Cheatley who had two shots saved by the impressive Sophia Moule in the Sports goal but when the ball broke to Wiktoria Kiszkis the former winger who is now part of the Bees front two made know mistake in her striker role.
Ten minutes later an Ashley Cheatley shot was very well defended and deflected wide for a corner which resulted Sophia Moule doing well to save Wiktoria Kiszkis header from a Rebecca Teale cross..
Within a minute, Borough were level and had the equaliser their play deserved when Mai Louvrier was unlucky with a bouncing ball on the right-hand side of the box, which Molly Hill collected and riffled home.
Asees Sangha was removed from play in the 36th minute after taking a knock and was aided to limp of the pitch after it looked like she could put no weight on her ankle to be replaced by Renai McCrea.
Ashley Cheatley and Renai McCrea both came close to restoring the Bees lead but just before half time when a Maddie Phillips crossed a beautiful Free Kick which was met in the air by Kiszkis and nodded towards Cheatley who got the goal her attacking play had deserved.
Abbi Smith gave the Bees a two-goal cushion on her league debut, when turning in a Rebecca Teale cross.
At the other end, Borough hit the bar to warn Brentford that they were still very much in the game.
Renai McCrea came close to getting the Bees fourth with an effort that was just millimetres wide after some excellent build up play down the right with Abbi Smith and Rhian Cleverly linking up well.
Both sides survived a scare, first when the Sports had a brilliant diagonal ball abd the shot was whipped across the face of the Bees goal whilst at the other end Wiktoria Kiszkis sent aheader just over the bar.
The Bees wrapped up the win in the 90th minute when Wiktoria Kiszkis got her brace after meeting substitutes Iliana Harris-Walters centre.
At the end of the game both teams showed their appreciation to their supporters, with the Eastbourne Borough players applauding their travelling support in the main stand and the Brentford players clapping the Bees fans behind the Car Park End goal which the team were attacking.
The London and South-East Premier Division is considered by many to be the toughest league at Teir 5 in the country with most of the clubs playing at a standard that would not be out of place in the Women’s National League. It is a real bottle neck in the pyramid and this season’s race for the single promotion spot will be severely contested by a number of clubs, which includes the two that played out this entertaining game. At the end of the season, Bees fans will probably look back at this fixture as being the first 6 pointer.
