West Stand - A Call to Arms

Good to see some initiative being taken:


We are now in the final stages of being able to confirm the plans for next Saturday.

To keep everyone involved, here’s what we’re hoping to do:

• Before the match, we’ll need some volunteers to help set up the flags in the West Stand. The more helpers we have, the quicker we can get it done!

• Once the flag setup is complete, we’ll head over to the Cricket Club before the game.

• We’re looking to leave the Cricket Club at 4:30pm and march together to the ground, aiming to be there for 5:00pm.

• Once inside, we’ll start building the atmosphere at the front of the West Stand while the players are warming up. Following a meeting with Keith Andrews the other day, he and the players have asked if we can trial this for next Saturday.

• Any TW8 helpers on the day will also have the opportunity to help hold a banner at the front and potentially wave some of the flags pitch-side before the game.

• 5:30pm – kick-off, at which point everyone can make their way to their normal seats.

If you’re not in the West Stand but still want to get involved, that’s absolutely fine. I’ll be getting access to some passes which will allow you to come into the area before the game to help with the setup and wave some of the flags.

Just before kick-off, you can then head back to your normal seat, whichever stand you’re in.

One final thing…

This is currently planned to be our biggest-ever display. I’m just waiting on one final piece to fall into place, and then we’ll have everything confirmed and ready to go.

It’s going to be a big one — so the more people we have involved, the better! ️

Yeah, fantastic initiative. Hope it works well & will be joining in on the West Stand. Sod them against it - pretty sure you never stood on the Royal Oak, or if you did - have forgotten, so shame on you

The flags were a great idea, and helped with getting the fans in the Gtech early and starting the atmosphere.

Good atmosphere and nice touch with the Middlesex badge and old Brentford badges on the flags.

What would help is reigning in the music before kick off.

Too many songs played in a short space of time over the speakers before kick off.

I enjoyed that in the west stand. Young and old joining in making a noise that definitely helped the team batter the opposition from minute one.

Great stuff. Club’s efforts to improve the atmosphere paid off, and the flag display helped a lot in getting people up for it. Walkout music change to Run Boy Run also a definite improvement on Intro from last season, much more intense which is what you want.

The guy collecting at the end said it would be every game (plan anyway) - but lot of people just walking out with them was annoying

........ but less of an issue if they bring them to the next game. There were loads that had been collected in when we were leaving.

Well done West Stand, one the best atmospheres since prem season 1.
I think what worked with the flags were that they were all different designs so it looked organic rather than orchestrated.
Keep up the good work !

Flags looked great from South Stand. Also ended up at the back the march over Kew Bridge (unplanned) which my 37 week pregnant wife actually really enjoyed a great send off for probably her last game for a while unless she makes Sunderland…

Brilliant idea, let’s get Thomas Frank and his wipe board point to the words or karaoke on the concourse screens. Maybe pushing it a bit to have on the large screens overlooking the pitch. That would just be silly. Let’s have song sheets in every seat. With full instructions.

The atmosphere was better today but then we were thrashing Spurs. I helped by wearing a red hat.

Ok, Lewis-Potter “only” has a Keano!, and Schade’s do-a-diddy is always a bit hit & miss, but the rest all have their songs, that were sung loud. Good way of keeping the atmosphere going in future in moments when there’s a lull in play. Courtesy was even extended to subs warming up and when they came on.

Would be all players but Kelleher doesn’t have a chant. Not an invitation for the songsmiths to pepper this thread with their offerings.
