Which lessens the chances of a bust, since the money is staying in the game.

It's an option to buy at the end of 1 year mate. If he has a stormer with Spurs then in the current market that would appear a normal price for a player of his ability. I'm not a fan personally as I think he's all fur coat and no knickers, but let's face it no one has seen him after a good run of games and someone at BFC Towers believed him to be the real deal so he may yet surprise us all.
