I was disappointed we let him go, but already looks like the right choice with Anthony coming in and his brilliant start to this loan. I reckon he's challenging for a start for us next season if he does well at Sheff Utd.
A full season at mid-Championship level will do wonders for him. He’ll get more from that than the odd minutes at the closing end of games with us. Hopefully, he’s a next generation full first team squad player.

MoM for the Blades last night and getting rave reviews from their supporters, like others I was slightly disappointed we loaned him out, but once again our management have proved they know better than us mere supporters, looking overall at the players we put out on Sat and last night it was indeed a wise move, he will come back so much better by getting time in proper league football where he is now, rather than on our bench where we seem very well stocked by quality experience. 🐝

Agreed. Looked a real player on the highlights, and a proper go in the Championship will put hairs on his chest for sure.

Watched the first half. Romelle was poor but was not helped by Sheff U choosing to attack down the other flank. I thought he would get hooked at half time because Cardiff's main threat came down his side and he was often jogging rather than sprinting back to do his defensive work. He wasn't terrible by any means but you could see Wilder was not happy with the set up on that side. Romelle didn't get the chance to show off his attacking skills at all. All part of the learning process I suppose.

I don’t think Phil will mind Romelle being given time learning how to track back and defend. When he comes back if he’s to make it as a winger for us he’ll be expected to defend.

Tracking back a full speed is a given
minimum at Brentford. In fairness Romelle did when he played last year.

As aside all good learning. I really hope he learns lots more

Exactly what I was thinking. The contrast to what we have become used to with Dango / Kevin and Bryan before them was very apparent today.

That’s the point, he’s young, will have great days along with bad days. The loan will do him what we want it to. Star of the future if he wants it enough and only he knows that.

Didnt he hit that well. Keeper had no chance

First half he did some excellent stuff then some not so good, second half he was good, worked hard, had the best quality on the pitch and great finish. Growing in confidence.

Looks like he’s going to have some season there. 👍🏻

I think its safe to say they like him. And interestingly as much for his work rate as his skill. These are some of the comments I could see peering through the thicket of adverts on the Blades' main forum:

Some player. Fought for everything today with some lovely moments of skill. A breath of fresh air to watch in a time we need him.

An exceptional talent

We've had our fair share of tricky, pacey wingers on loan over the years but I don't think I've seen any of them combine these raw talents with an ability and drive to put themselves about as much as Donovan did tonight. We're in for a real treat this year if he keeps performing like that.

I said the same after his first game
(in response to lots of comments that he looks like a young Iliman Ndiaye). His stature, the way he moves, his tenacity, skill, speed of thought, work rate, directness, robustness. Highest praise I can offer to be honest.

Great performance from the 19 year old. He really wants it atm and if he keeps progressing at this rate he’ll get it!

Thought he was going to be too raw to be a consistent starter but if he’s gonna work like a dog for 90 minutes and put himself about like that then he’s going to be a key player. The ability is clearly there. Brentford’s ability to identify players is exceptional.
