Ethan Pinnock's Dad here.
Just wanted to thank all the members, fans, contributors and admin for the amazing sentiments that have been expressed on this forum not only now but ever since my son became a Bee which meant that the whole family became Bees.
I have been an avid reader of the GPG and always wanted to post something on here but was wary of possibly been bias.
Some of the things that have been said on this thread have left me tearing up.Thank you all so much for being so positive about my son(mostly). This club has left its mark on the whole family.
It must take some doing to leave Banana with eyes "ALL IRRITATED"

Thank you GPG.
I've been a supporter of the Bees since the early 60's since my Dad took me when I was 6 years old.

As someone on here has already stated we have had a number of centre half legends over the years. For me, my favourite player ever that has donned the Bees shirt is Peter Gelson. Well, I put Ethan on a par with Peter Gelson as my favourite ever player. Around where I sit in the Dugout, I used to praise Ethan's play loudly so much and so often that I was accused of being his Dad myself by those in the vicinity. :D One of them even bought a photo of Ethan with his signature on it acquired from one of the Open Days and gave it to me as a gift.

As so many on here have said it was not just that he performed so well for us over so many years, but it was his character that stood out as much as his outstanding play. This was even reflected in how he played the game. I defy anyone to identify another PL centre half, who accumulated proportionately fewer yellow cards than Ethan.

As others have said, he is a credit to his parents.

My son, another Ethan, is a gooner. He grew up during Thierry Henry tearing up the PL and despite taking him to Griffin Park it was a lost cause from day one...

Anyway he owns one Brentford shirt for match days when he comes along to humour his dad. On the back is number 5 Pinnock. That's the impact your son has had - even the 'Brentford as a second team brigade' recognise him as a great player and a role model.

I can only imagine how proud you are of him. And based on your one post, he can be proud of you too.

Ethan Pinnock's Dad's GPG Post

@Pinny, the humility and sincerity in you message makes it clear why Ethan turned out a true gent. You must be the proudest dad in town. As others have already said, your son is a bona fide Brentford legend who will go down in club folklore. A shame all good things come to an end, but wishing you and your family all the best in your new chapter ❤️

Ethan Pinnock's Dad's GPG Post

I always felt Ethan to be a gentleman as well as an outstanding player for us.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at Miami airport a couple years ago; he interrupted his meal to chat with my wife and myself as well as us taking the obligatory photos!

Sad to see him leave but understand why!

That's just made me well up all over again. Your son is a credit to you, the rest of your family, the Bees, football, all sports and humanity in general. So sad to see him go, but happy for him to have this opportunity. Hall of Fame nailed on. Standing ovation whenever he returns to the Gtech.

Hi PINNY, listened to an hour interview recently , where he talked about his career to date , and the knock backs but always listened to valued advice and took it on board. You obviously played your part in his development as a young man and his success in climbing the football pyramid.
Ethan is a perfect example of an ordinary man who worked hard in his football development , his feet firming on the ground, achieved academic results outside of football but always strived to improve his football career for his wife and young family.

He earns all the praise with open arms and I for one will always welcome him back
to the BEES HOME.

Ethan Pinnock's Dad's GPG Post

I wonder how many clubs have had a legends dad come onto their forum to exchange endearment after they've left. Not many would be my guess, especially at Premier league level. Shows everything that's good with our club and how highly thought of Ethan is

@Pinny We wish you and your son well and hope you and your family keep supporting the Bees

@Pinny, thank you for posting. It has all been said on here about Ethan, i cannot agree more. It has been a privaledge to not only watch him play for my club, but how he has conducted himself both on and off the pitch. He is a role model to the younger generation which is so important, and we have been so lucky to have had him here at Brentford.

I wish him well on his journey, and hopefully we will hear updates on his continued progress.

He will be welcome back at the G Tech in any shape or form, legend that he is.

I really should have dusted my laptop before I read your post. :)

The words "hero" and "legend" are often (over) used, but both are unquestionably applicable in Ethan's case. As others have said he is guaranteed a place in our hall of fame.

His journey and rise to the top has been incredible and i'm so glad it happened with us.I can only echo all of the sentiments on this thread.

Some players return to play against us and may be a little unsure of what the reaction will be but he will never have to concern himself with that,He is family and be in no doubt we will show him just how much he means to us.

30th of December, as things stand, could see the loudest cheer for an opposition player taking the field at our place, and it would be richly deserved.
I very much doubt it. Unless we're opening the Gtech for a watch-a-long

When I told my son I’d seen that Ethan Pinnock may be leaving, he rushed to dig out a Bees shirt that your son signed years ago and could tell me when and where and how lovely your son was to him. I thought he was over the signatures on shirts stuff! It has been in a cupboard for so long. And the shirt looks tiny to his size now, but clearly made such an impression for a small kind thing and your son is exactly the best kind of football role model a young football crazy kid should have.

Thanks him for me if you can, and for the football of course

Ethan Pinnock's Dad's GPG Post

I am completely overwhelmed by the reactions to my post.Had I known how well I would have been received on the GPG I would have been posting from years ago.
Needless to say I am extremely proud of Ethan's achievements as a footballer but even prouder(if thats possible)of what he went through in order to get there.
It is very satisfying to read your comments about his football abilities but what really tugs at my heart and gets me all emotional is when you talk about his personality and his character.

Admittedly Ethan does not read the GPG nor any other written pieces about him...that job seems to have fallen to me and from time to time I forward these to him.

Question for the GPG...which player are you now going to sponsor?(bet you didn't realise how tuned in I am)
Ps...not sure how we are going to cope with being at the away end at the Gtech.

Ethan Pinnock's Dad's GPG Post

Won't you you'll be with F&F in the South Stand rather than the away end? As a complete one off only exception you can wear a half/half scarf!

Our pleasure, sir.
As luck would have it I had the pleasure of briefly meeting your lad and he was a lovely guy and a credit to his parents.
I hope you are massively proud and well you should be.

Our brief encounter was in November 2019 after our game v Reading..
It was our last season at Griffin Park and our gang saved up our pennies for a hospitality day that included a tour of the ground, lunch, seats adjacent to the directors box and meeting some if the players both pre-and post-match. I also got lucky and was on the pitch for the ‘toss’ (highlight of my Bees ‘career’) and, in addition, we all got to vote for the MotM.
I believe it was one of Ethan’s first ‘starts’, Julian Janvier had (rather recklessly) been sent off late on in our previous game at Wigan, and he played a blinder, won our vote for MotM, and basically made the position his from that game on.
And the rest is history.
So thanks for ‘loaning’ him to us and good luck to you all in your future endeavours.

PS I have other photos and an autographed programme. Please just message me if you’d like them.

Ethan Pinnock's Dad's GPG Post

A lovely post.

Ethan is the best defender I've seen live. The way he could read a play and then react with the perfect block or tackle was world class. To make the amount of tackles he made, against some of the best attackers in the world, giving away such a small amount of free kicks was unreal.
I doubt many defenders can say they've pocketed Haaland multiple times. The list of players that can say they've done the double over a Guardiola side, including the winner in one of the games, would be just as small. And he just quietly went about his business. A top, top defender and man.

A match worn shirt (a 30th birthday present from family) has a very proud place on the wall in my home. A definite hall of famer, an all timer.

Hi Pinny

As everyone has already said. Ethan is a Brentford legend and definitely the best defender that I have seen play for us. As a teenager watching Brentford I loved watching Terry Evans and Keith Millen as our centre backs. I loved their on field relationship. Terry Evans was our no nonsense skipper that wouldn't take no prisoners and Keith was more naturally gifted with the ball at his feet. Plus Jamie Bates thrown into the equation. But Ethan and Pontus's partnership is definitely the best by far. I was lucky enough to meet Ethan at a family day at Griffin Park in 2019 with David Raya just after they both signed . They were just standing to the side away from the crowd as Said Benrahma was walking down the stairs from the offices in Braemar Road and everyone flocked to speak to Said including my children that were only young at the time. I decided to approach Ethan and David instead and welcome them to our club to the horror of my son. I chatted to Ethan for about 5 minutes and I couldn't believe he had the time to talk to me. Being a Disabled fan due to MS he made my day. No need to ask for an autograph that chat was more than enough. My Son in recent years saw Ethan a few times at Power League in Hanworth with I imagine your Grandson. My son was to scared to approach Ethan as he said he was to embarrassed by what I had done on that day at Griffin Park! Definitely a few tears shed like everyone has said already. I wish you all as a family the very best for the future and can't wait for Ethan to return to the G-Tech so we can give him the reception that he rightly deserves. Definitely a Brentford legend and Hall of famer. P.S This is probably about the 5th post I have posted on the GPG as I like to read everyone's posts instead. But your boy has given us Bees so many memories he deserves all the accolades he receives and I feel he deserves a message. Thank you Ethan and Pinny 🐝🐝

Dear Sir , I would love to know if all members of the Pinnock family possess the ability to extend their left leg beyond normal reach . It certainly has come in handy throughout Ethan’s career at Brentford.

Ethan Pinnock's Dad's GPG Post

You must be so proud of your son, and that's probably down to how he has been brought up, so very well done, I have followed the Bees for over 70 years and can honestly say that Ethan is one of the very best defenders I have seen in a Bees shirt, he made everything look so easy without any fuss, I once had the pleasure of meeting him in Teddington high street a few years back and he stopped to chat with me, what a lovely man he was to speak to, it made an old man very happy that day, very, very sad he's left us but an understandable move for him to stay in the Premier League, a Brentford legend who I will give a round of applause to even when he plays against us, and I know I won't be alone in doing so, good luck Ethan and many, many thanks for your vast contribution in playing a very big part of taking us to the promised land. (y) 🐝🐝.

Ever since the first time Ethan pulled on a Brentford shirt we knew we had top player. Getting promoted via the play offs is something that means more to Brentford fans than it does to any other fan because of the prior failures, last minute penalty misses, last minute opposition goals and so many near misses that made us the constant bridesmaid for nearly 40 years. Ethan was one of the handful of players that changed that.

Then onto the premier league and he proved he was completely in his comfort zone. Always a top performer, always a smile, always a gentleman, had players like Ronaldo and Salah in his pocket and has never put in a single cynical or bad tackle. One of a kind, happy for him to get a move to another great club but gutted to see him go.

As club legends go, there can be no one higher placed.

Always gave his best for Brentford and never let us down.
Shame he has moved on but he certainly deserved his final big pay day.
Wishing him the best of luck always except if and when he plays against us.

I wish him well at Cov and he will be a legend there also.
We will miss him and he is always welcome and expect a Hall of Fame nomination and rightly so.
Be proud of your boy Pinny.
