West Stand - A Call to Arms

Install a decibel meter, show the decibel level on the screen in the stands every now and then which will encourage the crowd to break the ‘crowd-o-meter’. Display previous record highs and how long the noise stayed at that level, and what games those highs happened in.

whoever is in control of it coming on screen can target duller moments to lift the crowd and which in turn might help the on field pitch performance.
This is done at some NFL grounds where they get the different stands to compete for the loudest cheer. It seemed cheesy at the Saints game I was at in New Orleans and not really our game atmosphere in England, let alone very Brentford.

I don’t think you really get “Brentford”….we aren’t like that….EVER🧐🤨🤮

Everyone should stand (if able to) before the game everywhere in the stadium, it's always harder to sing sitting down. Seated stadiums are the biggest cause of ground atmosphere worsening imo. Whilst we're at it, turn the music down, I believe people are focused on that and the pre match videos. Far from building the noise levels I think they suppress it for too long pre match.. It's the debate of being entertained v entertaining ourselves and doing our job IE supporting our team

Sadly VFTB we are, people like you and me are no longer valid in the 'bigger picture'. We will soon have clappers, drumming music when we get a corner, and Harry Potter on the megaphone down the front leading the singing to the words on the big screen to the influx of tourists spending £100 a game. Attending football matches as we knew is gone. Don't forget to scan the QR code and play along at half time and make sure you leave behind your flag after you have poked somebody in the eye. 'Happy days are here again . . .'. Anyone for a slice of Victoria Sponge?

Yesterday was an away day but feeling, again, that our poor away-end atmospheres are dragging on through this season. Can't count how many times I heard "football in a library" from us.

Maybe we can wave some flags, apparently that raises the volume

Proper sh*t isn't it. We're the away team, similar amount of fans, and 1-0 up a minute in. If it's football in a library, it's our fault!

West Stand - A Call to Arms

Yeah, would much rather hear our own songs than us do this one
".....we sing on our own...." is a bit cringe too . It sounds like we are encouraging the opposition supporters to start singing. As the East stand keep telling us the Farkew are singing but we in the Best stand can't hear them.

It’s quite funny how the less numbers we bring the better our away ends are. Brought a fraction of the numbers to Birmingham and it was far better than last night, same with Grimsby last year.

Unfortunately the big away ends tend to get filled up with a few too many day trippers who make zero noise and ensure that the people that go week in week out and actually do sing are more spread out rather than altogether.

Half the songs we sung away at Bournemouth were probably unable to get going last night as a number of fans in the away end wouldn’t even know the words - hence the repetition of chants like “football in a library” or “we’re by far the greatest team the world has ever seen”.

I had some miseries behind me moaning about canos/vibe sonfs being sung.
"Why are they singing about them".

I said because they scored here.

"So have loads of other players" one said, and mentioned a name i didnt catch.

I said feel free to start a song about them then.

only moaned.
And when reading scored, he said "now we got a game on our hands".

We have serious misery element within our fanbase.
They dont enjoy it and need to thrust their misery on others

I remember a couple seasons back when Rico made a mistake at home against Bournemouth from which they scored from, There was a loud chorus of his name being sung by bees fans- someone turned back and asked ‘why the f*** are we chanting his name, he’s the reason we’re behind right now’

some people just don’t get it.

Im glad beesotted have mentioned in their post reading match pod.
It is a real concern and it is true what they say.
Some of us want a genuine passionate loud atmosphere.
Flag waving isnt going to change that.

The last 2 home games have been way better than atmosphere in the last seasons

Lets not over hype it. West stand alone should be loud as is supposed to be the "noisey" end.

But, lets hope the improvement continues.

Yes it "should" be but it quite frankly hasn't the last few years.

The recent changes have definitely helped

I feared this would be the result when STHs could buy six tickets each for friends and family. F&F matches at home are usually poorer in the noise dept and it seems it was the same at Reading. I didn’t rush for a Reading ticket for this reason.

What’s next spelling De-fen-se!!!! On the screens?

I think large away ends are tricky to get going, because fans are too spread out and multiple groups start different chants. Same thing happened at West Ham all the time.

Maybe we need a drum :fishing:

Wait a small group can coordonate easier and better than an army? I would never :fishing:

This “little war” against the “tourist” which are Brentford fans (not talking about Liverpool away ) has to end, maybe it’s their first away trip as Reading was very convenient or like the guys next to me they could barley stand as they had a combine aged of a few millennia.

Some of the new away fans might get a taste and after a long ass journey to Newcastle or Sunderland they instantly become extroverts 😂

As a non-brit the one thing I don’t get, however I like (make it make sense 😂) is the lack of a coordinator for the singing sections, not talking about the Seattle FC tw*t, more like the European support. At reading everyone was all over the place.

However I get starting a song from a couple of guys that develops into the whole section it’s inbuilt into the fabric of British football plus the instant improvisation that you can’t have anywhere else in the world

Oh my I’m sending you my deepest apologies, guy.

The immobile century old fans would be a better choice for you sir? Is sir happy with that?

👀

Keith Andrews on fan flags...

"It’s genuine, real and isn’t forced in any way. I was delighted when I heard what [the fans] were doing. That engagement and feel is nice to witness when we come out. It sums up where we are as a club that our captain has made that donation"

6 year old is bang up for this and wouldn't take no for answer as to not going with daddy. His brother who 3 now got the ass he cant go 🤣

Are people taking too many of the flags home? :nono: Noticeably reduced number of them in the right side of W235 meant I had to shoulder the burden of an XL Middlesex flag that would have made Russell Grant proud

Think best night for a long while. The stadium was still full ten minutes after the final whistle!
And so it should be after a night like tonight
