Since Brexit, English clubs now find it more difficult to sign younger overseas players (need a permit etc), while UEFA restricts the transfer of youngsters out of their home nation.I am convinced that @Scratchy is implementing some kind of Irish coup
northern ireland is part of the uk so not sure why there should be an issue? They brexited as well and we are one country.Since Brexit, English clubs now find it more difficult to sign younger overseas players (need a permit etc), while UEFA restricts the transfer of youngsters out of their home nation.
But NI youngsters like Madden may move to GB from 16, since theyre staying within the UK and ROI youngsters may move from 18 y.o. since the Common Travel Agreement supercedes UEFA's restrictions. (I say "UEFA" but it may be FIFA?)
Meaning English/Scottish clubs are looking closer at the NI (and ROI) market for youngsters than they might have done 5 years ago - WHU certainly are.
He’s making the point that although it’s a different national football association it’s easier to move than from non U.K. football associations.northern ireland is part of the uk so not sure why there should be an issue? They brexited as well and we are one country.
If you'd had anything to do with exporting to, or importing from, the six counties since 2020, you'd have an appreciation of some of the complexities brought about by Brexit.northern ireland is part of the uk so not sure why there should be an issue? They brexited as well and we are one country.
… and the specific documentation, inspection and labelling requirements for some products crossing the GB-NI border… although I don’t think these apply to live human bodies. If you'd had anything to do with exporting to, or importing from, the six counties since 2020, you'd have an appreciation of some of the complexities brought about by Brexit.
Not sure. People trafficking isn't in my remit.… and the specific documentation, inspection and labelling requirements for some products crossing the GB-NI border… although I don’t think these apply to live human bodies.
Also that pre-Brexit, Eng/Scot clubs had the pick of youngsters from 28 EU nations. Now that thats restricted, some clubs are now looking more closely at young Irish prospects (both sides of border) that they formerly might not have considered because they could get better from Europe. He’s making the point that although it’s a different national football association it’s easier to move than from non U.K. football associations.
It has a (historically hugely contentious) land border with the EU, which the rest of the UK doesn’t, it’s been a bit of a hot topic (see how I avoided the culturally sensitive “potato” phrase there, I am so ruddy bloody woke) for the last 9 yearsnorthern ireland is part of the uk so not sure why there should be an issue? They brexited as well and we are one country.
Wasn't in the matchday squad from what I can tell. Still another match to go.Still only just 17, but called into the NI U19s for this break. Obviously a first look to see how he goes, must be quite a prospect for them.
