Shame he’s suffered another injury setback. Did very well there by all accounts, seems popular with their fans. Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes back next season

Two months on and still the same. Either injured or be being given the B team "overage freeze out" treatment, because a loan didn't materialise.

According to one of the Irish football journalists Adedokun is attracting interest from St Patrick's Athletic.

Given the ROI runs a spring-autumn league, he's almost certain to move there on a perm, if he moves, so as to get in early and get into pre-season. He basically needs to start his career over again really.

Saw that the ROI transfer window runs from 1 Dec to 22 Feb. Still time yet, but surprised he hasn't yet gone. Turns 23 in three weeks.

The Irish transfer window is closing today, so I guess unless his Brentford contract is cancelled today, he's staying here until at least the end of the season. Hasn't been seen since pre-season and hasn't played a match since Cheltenham, 10 months ago.

I wonder why, considering he was b team captain 2 years ago , he didn't play 1 minute for the b team this season?

Has he done something that hasn't been publicised?

Think he’s just had a very serious injury, missed the end of last season with Cheltenham due to injury iirc…

My guess is, like Joe Hardy, Ali Coote, Cole Dasilva and a couple of other overage B teamers before him, he's simply been frozen out.

I don't think the injury was serious, as he was pictured out there on the green stuff at the B team pre-season training camp. Then not seen again until a naff "check out our Bs in their threads" Instagram post from maybe a month ago.

After not being selected all season, he was an unused sub vs PSG on Monday.

It's the bizarrest thing, after being frozen out for a year and even more so given that the club has a one-year option it can trigger. It could all just be talk though, to make him seem more attractive to suitors ("must be good if Brentford still want him"), rather than "Val Adedokun released after a year bombed out of Brentford B". He won't be too attractive a mid-season signing back in Ireland this summer, clearly not being match fit.

I think it was long term injury rather than being “frozen out”

If we do not offer a contract then we will be unable to seek compensation for him as an under 24 year old. Hence the announcement of contract talks. Every penny counts!

Wonder if he has been on trial elsewhere to try and find something. Imagine we don't want much of a fee but perhaps a sell-on?

Wonder! That is the issue, none of us have any information, and are unlikely to obtain it. May be at some future date it will come out. I doubt that the club are interested in what he is doing, just that he is never going to play for us again. It is important that we stick to the principle that a contract is a contract, and young players learn to respect that. We probably paid a fee or compensation for him, and just because it suits the player why should we lose that money. If he is seen to get away with it agents will think that we are a pushover.
As I said none of us possess facts, but that is my reading of the situation.

Pure guesswork I assume. It does seem weird that he appears to be stuck in limbo. Perhaps he is still unfit, maybe he is being groomed as a coach like Balcombe, maybe he will leave in January. I am sure it will all come out in the wash.

Maybe I have missed something here.

Why would you offer a player a new contract is August and then not play him unless injuried.

I would be stunned '.....doubt that the club are interested in what he is doing' having just given him a contract.

As said, maybe I have missed something here or simply thick (Which is a strong possibility!)

I think I made that quite clear. The main fact is the club notified us the he has been offered a new contract. There is no corresponding report to say he has accepted it. We can only conclude that he is now in limbo prevented from playing football for anyone else. Being under 24 as he has been offered a new contract he is stuck there until another club agrees compensation with us. There it is spelt out, no guess work there.
No sign of a dream that he is being groomed as a coach.

I now note that he had indeed signed a new contract! So all that I have previously said is null and void. The mystery continues or should I be more contrite and say guess work!

While I am replying to you can I take the opportunity to thank you for all your posts about the B//under 21 Team. With out your digging around, and posting the result we would know very little about those teams, and players. Adedokun is a prime example. Thanks

Was never likely to make it here at first team level but could conceivably have gotten close enough to have earned a move like Brierley and Trevitt.

Post injury that chance has probably passed him by but perhaps we’ve viewed it as a bit of a micro-Dasilva situation; doing right by the player, giving him a chance to get back to fitness, and then holding the option of getting some form of sell-on if he does get a move.

Hard to be in the shop window without playing but if he’s fit he’s probably out there playing trials for other clubs at U21 level and we’re just unaware of it.

Cheers man, though I'm fighting a losing battle now, what with the incremental decrease in the amount of comms from the club, and what they do provide having details left out (contract lengths etc).

That's something never actually confirmed by anybody official, the supposed long term injury he suffered that kept him out of all last season. Hmmm, not sure, as yeah his Cheltenham loan was ended by injury, but then he was seen out on the green stuff at the B team's summer training camp last year.
