The only condition that I will accept Frank going to Fulham is that he stays long enough to get them relegated.

Hopefully he have them relegated them by 24 April and hang around for the unveiling of his statue

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

TF has made enough money from his Spurs sacking to keep him comfortable.

Apart from the natural personal ambition and pride to be successful somewhere else, in reality he has the time to carefully choose his next position.

Now that he has a more comfortable bank account, why go to any club that’s a mess in the PL, controlled by difficult owners.
There aren’t many well run clubs, from top to bottom, in the PL.

For many clubs, the Head Coach spends as much time battling the owners as he does battling the other team on the pitch!

I don’t really mind where he goes.
The only exception for me is not to go to that Loutish Road lot.

I have more angst about them, for trying to take us over and consign Bees to football’s dustbin in the mid 60’s, than I ever have about Foolham!

I think Peter Gilham would probably agree about that, as he also remembers those times; and used to refer to them as ‘the team from down the road’, without naming them!

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

.... don't suppose saving a club from relegation is necessarily a bad thing to have on your CV tbf.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

If he was seriously considering an approach from Fulham I think he would consult his ex owner and support staff to check the stats and will come back with a don’t touch it with a barge pole.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

I don’t mind what he does there, as long as he guarantees us 6 points per season whilst he is…
.... I'm sure the Putney Posers Conspiracy Society will have lots of members.

I really don't get all of this 'he'll go down in my estimation' stuff from a few posters. They talk like he was a fan of Brentford. He never was. He did his job, was given the overwhelming backing and support of an owner and DoF and won over fans, mainly by being successful, but also being very personable. That's also part of a manager's job these days.

The reality now is he's an out of work manager who won't be coming back here. At some point, he will want another job. If Fulham were interested, he doesn't have to move house, it would be a job in the PL and he'd get a decent wage.

I can't stand Fulham and hope they go down, whether he's at the helm or not. But I wouldn't begrudge him a move, nor think anything less of him if he goes there.

It doesn't change one iota what he did or achieved here. Nor does it make him a different person or a Fulham fan.

Why would he do this? Better jobs will come
Will they? I think his stock has fallen quite a lot since he left us. Keith doing so well doesn’t help him either. A bit like what happened to Potter when he left Brighton.

Like Potter his next job might be the national team coach of a Scandinavian country. But more one that plays in red…

I know football is football and loyalty doesn’t seem to exist these days, but it would be such a stupid decision if he were to do it.

As much as some will be neutral about it, the meaning behind what he’s achieved with us would go out the window during the first derby, and the noise in the Gtech would make that pretty clear.

It would make the Harlee Dean moment seem minuscule in comparison.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

Former Brentford and Tottenham manager Thomas Frank would be a leading candidate to take charge at Fulham if they decide to sack Alvaro Arbeloa. (Talksport)

From this mornings Gossip on BBC Sports website

Sorry I am not neutral since I totally disagree with every paragraph above.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

Putting aside any rivalry, no sensible head coach should want to go and work for Tony Khan. Utterly clueless about football and bailed out in the PL since 2022 by Silva squeezing every drop out of the squad.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

honestly, the mind of a football fan. Let’s cast our memories back…..

Now, whilst not true of the majority perhaps, myself included, there were numerous voices who after KA’s storming start made it know that they felt he was an improvement on TF. That Thomas had brought us as far as he could.

Cast your mind forward to his dismissal from Spurs. “Grass isn’t always greener”. “He had a brilliant set up here but gave it up”. “He knew the mess he was getting into”.

It’s easy to demand loyalty when you’re the ones moving forward. Are you honestly telling me there are some who would be upset, offended even, if Thomas was to attempt to get his managerial career back on track Despite the position we now find ourselves in, much of it down to what he achieved.

Would put a dampener on his achievements with us? What c**p

If he were to get off to a start like he did with us, he’ll be sacked by Xmas

On the flip side he would feel confident he could achieve what Silva did in the same circumstances.

I’m not sure. They’ve lost their goals from Wilson and Jimenez and the replacements are inadequate. Some big money flops too.

TF would be better than Arbeloa and he’d shore them up defensively but I can’t see them getting beyond lower mid table at best.

I think Fulham fans would take that at the moment!

He'll go way down in my estimation if he takes the Fulham job.........

....... Unless he does what I used to do on Championship Manager 97/98 when taking that job; releasing all of their best players and giving the sh*t ones long contracts on bumper wages, putting them into serious debt while trying to lose as many games as possible before the inevitable sacking!

Hear what you say but didnt stop Thomas Frank joining Spurs. The money on offer might have something to do with it.

Loyalty is fine to a point, but having experienced what we have in the last 1 and a bit seasons would you still want TF here, i dont think so. There comes a point when every manager goes past their shelf life, my guess is Thomas knew this and more importantly the club knew this. New blood, new ideas etc etc is often uderestimated imo.

Indeed....'I was there first'..'and it was fun while it lasted'.... should be the retort from any self respecting chap who happens to bump into an ex's new beau.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

They gave us Micky Adam’s now it’s our turn to return the favour

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

Frank will also have to realise if he goes to Fulham, many of their fans wont be fully behind him and will jump on him if things don't improve and they remain in a relegation battle. He will be under pressure straight away and they wont give him the time to address the issues within the playing element of the club. He will be seen as a Brentford agent and his Spurs tenure wont help him either in convincing them he can actually coach a team out of trouble. The other factor is that like Spurs he wont have anyone in the dressing room who he has previously managed. He really needs a player in there who knows and understands him and can help spread that message to the rest of the team. If he lasted to January then would he look at getting Rico in (unlikely to get Janelt or Jensen)?

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

Wherever he goes he better do it soon because out of work managers have a shelf life and if you take too long to get back on the horse you'll be lucky to even get offered a donkey.

I think somebody like TF, who everybody knows is very knowledgable and speak well on tv, will be fine

If, as seems to have been the case at Spurs, the players he inherits don’t take to him, getting old pals in (to replace them) will only make things worse. Cloughie saw that when he took over Leeds.
The key is that the players must know that the Owner is 100% behind the Manager.
Until he isn’t…

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

If TF goes to Fulham, reckon Mads Roerslev could be top of his January shopping list.

As a game changer super sub option. Think Saints would be tempted to sell £50m+.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

I'd just be concerned about how many names he remembers from our list. 🙁

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

I think he has more to lose than to gain with this one.

He succeeded with us and got a big job which didn’t go well.

This will be his final chance to succeed at a PL job (compare with say Graham Potter at West Ham). If he chooses badly and ends up sacked by Fulham that’ll be that.
Fulham are seen an established PL club but they are now badly run and in a bad position. It would be a huge risk and even if they did recover and finish say 13th people rightly or wrongly see that as par for Fulham, he'd be seen as doing "OK". If the next season went badly the knives would be out again.

I think the Denmark job is a bit of a red herring as he’ll never get back into elite club management whilst managing Denmark.... it’s too hard to noticeably succeed or over perform in a national team job like that. That is one to do to end his career.

I love that game but the worst thing about it was Fulham being great that year and the Bees being terrible. The game often relegates Brentford as of course happened in real life.

If he ever went, he can recruit the same backroom team from here that he took to Spurs, most (all?) of whom have also been fired since.

Fulham would like that - no compo to pay.

Just to confirm - my post wasn’t in regards as to whether I wanted him to stay or not. It was a response to those claiming taking the Fulham job would besmirch his legacy with us

Not the recruitment team, they all stayed.

Thomas Frank (ex-Spurs head coach)

I wonder if there is any more to this than a couple of people in the Sky Sports Newsroom or some Fulham fans putting two and two together - Thomas is an unemployed PL manager and lives in West London - and making five? When he decides he wants to go back into management, I'm sure he'll have several options other than Fulham and, in any case, I don't get the impression he is in any hurry to get another managerial job.
