Romelle Donovan (on loan to Sheffield United)
He spoke well. That was quite a long interview for him to navigate.Great stuff! (Could’ve given him a drink of water). Refreshing(!) to hear only a few ‘y’knows’ and even less ‘like….like….likes’.

And for us.Pleased for him.
Left footed, so probably more likely direct competition for Dango next year if he continues to progress well.Wonder if he'll evolve into a Schade replacement?
‘Stretch’ Donovan? He’d also need to work on the hair, and not smiling (supposedly).Wonder if he'll evolve into a Schade replacement?
Let's see what a season at a middling Championship club turns out like first.Wonder if he'll evolve into a Schade replacement?
It's always hard to tell how talented young players will progress as plenty fail to fulfil their potential. But my gut feeling is that Donovan will be way too good to settle for a career in the Championship.I liked what I saw last season considering his relatively quick progression into the 1st team squad but needs to deliver consistently now to make the next step in his career. Even if he ends up not making it with us I think he'll have a solid career in the Championship with possible PL games at some point much like Crama will.
Yes, I have long been convinced that he is a premier league star in waiting. the way he uses his body and centre of gravity is impressive and he can only get better at 19. usually end product takes a bit longer to come but his crosses and finishes are excellent. I really think we need to ensure a pathway for himIt's always hard to tell how talented young players will progress as plenty fail to fulfil their potential. Not especially. Swapped wings in the 2nd half, I think. Worked like a dog, throughout.Just catching up this thread over the last two pages...did Wilder play him in a more advanced position on Tuesday?
Your dog is obviously nothing like mine! Not especially. Swapped wings in the 2nd half, I think. Worked like a dog, throughout.
I don’t have one! Expression innit, from ‘a working dog’.Your dog is obviously nothing like mine!![]()
Adopt our system to fit him inNot really a Schade replacement who has power in height and heading, more an inverted right wide player perhaps, the new Bryan maybe?
That’s my only real reservation, would he fit into our current system which tends
to support / need wide players who deal with direct balls in the air/ through the channels.
For the B team he sometimes played as a 10. Also we are continually adapting styles based on personnel. Don’t think we have to worry on that account. Not really a Schade replacement who has power in height and heading, more an inverted right wide player perhaps, the new Bryan maybe?

Yes, let's see what he looks like after a season in the Championship. At the moment, he's more an Anthony 'replacement'.For the B team he sometimes played as a 10. Also we are continually adapting styles based on personnel. Don’t think we have to worry on that account.
If he becomes good enough to command a regular first team berth then let’s view him for what he is, and not as a replacement.
In a Brentford 'default' wide attack we've long preferred inverted wingers (think Bryan) who can cut inside and overload/shoot. How Chris Wilder choses to use him may be different. He is left footed I think and there are less lefties I believe. Why does he often play on the right
He's good at getting the most out of what he's got. Maybe not an elite manager but one of the best at his current level. As ever, Wilder’s assembled a right old mish mash of players, but usually gets a tune out of them…
Only if he has growth spurtWonder if he'll evolve into a Schade replacement?
soz its Sunday ,dohOn Sky Noon game tomorrow , if he plays
And on the Sky Sports app, not the Sky Go app.Starts at Fleetwood in CC tonight
On Sky.
Without overstating the obvious, there are many factors to consider when a loan player (or any player) joins a new team, especially a young player.I was speaking with two mates, one of whom is an Oxford fan, other Blackburn about loan signings.
Both of them had noted a common theme recently, that when a loan player arrives, even if they perform right off the bat, often managers will still be reluctant to start them week in week out until a quarter of a way through season. I suppose ideally you want your permanent players to flourish, and that the loan provides alternative support, rather than being the main man who you know won’t stay
Came on in the 88th minute after they’d conceded twice in 10 minutes after being 1-0 up and not given enough time to influence the match.Came on as 88th minute sub in today's 2-1 defeat.....
I am more optimistic about the Donovan loan than the Konak one. He seems to be on the verge of regular starts. But Konak is definitely a reserve. Not what he needs at this point. Recall if possible? On the bench again despite being one of their better players this season. Not sure what Wilder is up to with him, and their fans seem to be non-plussed about it too. Konak also on the bench, real waste of a loan going on there so far.
Yep it’s getting very confusingAre we talking about Romelle Donovan or Yunus Konak? Konak has his own thread, doesn’t he?
