League of Ireland

Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers both qualified for the UEFA Conference League tonight. A historic night for Irish club football tinged with some sadness with the earlier news of the passing of Ollie Horgan, who was the former Finn Harps manager and until last month assistant manager with Galway United. A real character who epitomised the LOI. He will be sadly missed.

May he rest in peace.

League of Ireland

Good title race at the moment, with 3 teams tied and 4 games left (5 for shamrock)

Shamrock end with Drogheda at home then Boh's, then Galway away, rock-bottom Sligo at home, then Dundalk away to finish.

Pat's have Derry away, Shelbourne home, Galway away and then the blockbuster finish, home to Bohemians.

Boh's have Shamrock away, Waterford and Shelbourne at home, then Pats away to finish.

Yes it's a good race but Rovers have let the other 2 have this opportunity through a severe case of hubris. Much like their green and white hooped counterparts in Glasgow they only have themselves to blame.

League of Ireland

I'll re-engage with this lark next season when Cork City arrive back in the top tier with a bang as 2nd tier Champs ;-)

League of Ireland

Big win for Shamrock Rovers in the title race tonight as they beat their local rivals Bohemians 2-1 in Tallaght. Feisty game and Rovers were definitely hanging on at the very end but they held out and move 6 points clear of Bohs and St Pats, who have a game in hand.

I'd imagine Tallaght's version of Ken and chums will have their hands full this evening.......

League of Ireland

The title race that keeps on giving. Rovers lose 2-0 in Galway. Bohs win 2-1 and St Pats lose a local derby 2-1 at home to Shelbourne who scored with their only 2 shots on target.

2 games left for Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians. 3 for St Pats who play on Monday night. Oh yeah and in the 1st Division Kerry FC qualified for the playoffs so a good night there in Tralee. (y)

That must be a sickener for Pat's - i see an ex-bee got sent off today. Will have to check out the highlights later (y)

Indeed. A lot went on in that game so definitely worth a look.

I only caught the last 10 minutes though as I was watching Kerry-Cork City

Should be "...an ex-bee got sent off too", not "today"! Enjoyable watch on the highlights :)

Then there were 2. St Pats lost their game in hand tonight, 1-0 away in Derry, so they are virtually out of the title race. Patrick McClean (brother of James) was outstanding. His brother, who is still on Derry's books, was booed by a section of the home support this evening after some unfortunate comments about mental health over the weekend.

Never a dull day in #TheGreatestLeagueInTheWorld

League of Ireland

Then there was only one. Shamrock Rovers dismissed already relegated Sligo Rovers 4-0 in Tallaght and Bohemians lose 1-0 at home in the Dublin derby against Shelbourne which meant Rovers wrapped up the title with a game to spare. Their 6th in 7 seasons.

I think the feeling will be that Bohs and St Pats missed a really big opportunity this season as Rovers aren't as strong as in previous seasons. That side needs a significant overhaul but they'll have that European money to help with that now. Anyway congratulations to them.

League of Ireland really needs to improve the infrastructure stadiums and facilities generally to continue to grow I feel it’s starting to Plato

Yes they do. The Dalymount project is due to start shortly so they'll be playing games elsewhere next season. Tolka Park is also due for improvement but generally the standard of facilities throughout the league are very poor.

I've not been there but I believe Oriel Park in Dundalk is a LOT worse.
