Final Score Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Conditions are playing a part but that first half from us was dreadful Hickey in midfield has not worked and the front three have been lacking to say the least could all change second half of course

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Ouattara has been our main outlet and most creative player, not sure why people are getting on his back, the rest have been woeful in attack
The team have done well to get the ball to him in good places, but I can't seriously buy that anyone is impressed with what he's done on the ball.

Utter sh*te. Ref hasn't helped either. Can only get better 2nd half. Missing our 2 midfield beasts
50+ years of watching Brentford has taught me that "can only get better 2nd half" is usually a forlorn hope.
I do sometimes get proven wrong, so hope this is one of them.

Hickey and Dango off. Anthony and Dams on around the 60th. Give them time to try to fix it.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Anyone arguing that isn't a penalty should probably consider moving on from watching football.
That's total garbage. He got the ball through the player's legs before there was any contact. Not surprised the ref gave a pen but there was certainly a case for VAR overturning. The VDB barge was at least as much a shout for a penalty to Hull.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

I cannot remember the last time I’ve been so disappointed and frustrated with a half of football. We have been pathetic. I understand these away games against newly promoted teams are never as easy as they look on paper, and Hull are clearly a very well organised side. But we are being outfought in far too many duels and look far too lackadaisical in possession. Some of them need rockets up them at half time because that was very poor
They haven't won a game in the last 5 and this is their 8th

Disgusting first half....
Will KA change things up? NEEDS TO!

As you say, he got the ball through the player, that's not a legal move. It's a stonewall penalty.

One positive is that Hull have created almost nothing apart from the penalty that we gifted them... if we get a goal back (which we are more than capable of) I can see us getting points from this second half.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Referee hanging on before blowing h/t whistle while we’re attacking, Hickey gets ball with time to launch it into box ….. he plays it backwards.
Gormless🤪

Infuriating. He was obviously going to blow up.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

We look like we are auditioning for a Keystone Cops remake. We must be better 2nd half surely?

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

If Dams is fit he has to be on the pitch. Can provide that creative outlet.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

I’ve been impressed with their aggressive press and tenacity. Everytime we have it, they are like flies around sh*t.
The thing is...a little bit of composure and there's so much space to exploit. But we just do not have it. THIS is the weakness of Cheif Keif's system. Chaos is all well and good until you come up against a team that does nothing but press you like heck and does not want to have the ball.

We need to be more composed and more patient. There are spaces to exploit and there are opportunities. Kris has shown what can happen if you find the spaces.

I also think Dango, Hickey, and Sepp have all been very poor, in particular, though apart from Ajer, I don't think anyone is playing well.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Thiago has been poor for the last couple of games now.
Wilson must be despairing by now.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Poor all over the pitch. Thiago is a passenger, Hickey hasn’t gripped the game and doesn’t look like a midfielder, Sangare pretty anonymous and Jensen looks to be struggling with the conditions more than most. That is by far the worst 45 minutes of the season so hopefully they get a rocket from Andrews at HT and we come out and have a go at them.

Yep, though it was a surprise (to me, at least), you've got to give them credit - they've got a clear game plan, their players are well up for it, and if Bees aren't playing well, then that's at least partly because Hull aren't giving them the chance.

All that said, even when on the front foot, it still took a gk error for Hull to score, so that if Bees can turn the tide, they should still be there for the taking.

A cross that caused a last ditch clearance away from Thiago, got round his man several times, shot deflected for a corner. What has anyone else done

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Awful so far, the wind is a massive issue which makes Kellehers pass even more insane. Hickey has to be subbed, can’t risk another sending off, get Damsgaard on. If the wind is in our favour this half I think we can turn it around.

I'd bring on Collins and Damsgaard for VDB and Hickey. We look leaderless in defence. I'd give Thiago and Ouattara 10 mins to improve and replace with Anthony and Wilson if they don't. Thiago's biggest contribution was blocking Schade's goalbound shot and Ouattara has promised a lot but disappointed every time.

Based on the penalty decision being debated...

I've thought about this idea before, but I'd like it if there was an edited version of VAR incidents only for the VAR team where the players are non-descript/anonymised (like their appearance on offside reviews), not in their club kit, so they cannot tell which team gets the favoured decision.

It would eliminate any suggestions of bias and arguably remove the need for the referee to ever look at the screen, too.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

The referee’s call of penalty to Hull and yellow card to Hickey for the challenge on Iroegbunam was checked and confirmed by VAR.

REF: “I don't think he plays the ball. I think it's a genuine attempt, it's going to be a yellow card”.

VAR: “I think the contact is with the attacker first. I think it's a genuine attempt for the ball, DOGSO, so I support the yellow card”.
Why have none of the commentators spotted that.
Actually quite obvious on the slowed down reply.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

We were poor in the first half, but I think wind played a big role in it. Still it doesn't excuse us from lacking the same energy and tenacity as Hull. I don't understand why some people are piling on Dango, he is one of our best players today. And I worry for Thiago, there's absolutely nothing coming his way, and I'm afraid we need to drop him. How I wish to be proven wrong in the second half...

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

maybe it’s just the moments I remember but feel like Thiago often on the wing again and Schade central. We need Thiago on the box getting on the end of things, not getting outpaced on the wings

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Major surprise.

GPG pile in on the ref, when it's not the officials' fault we are losing and playing poorly.

You can set your watch by it these days.
Yawn.

I’m piling on Rob Jones because he looked directly at Jensen who has a head injury and didn’t stop the match. Play must be stopped for a head injury.

Because Jones failed to caution the Hull player for stopping a promising attack by fouling Ajer.

Because Jones’s assessment of the penalty was factually wrong. He guessed that Hickey didn’t play the ball which is proven wrong by every available replay.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

Hull are there for the taking, are we good enough?
Let's see, I'm expecting a better second half performance.

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

no changes !
That is bold. Hoping the b***ocking has worked and Keith gives them 10 minutes to improve.

Hope Hickey doesn't see red during that time. GPG may well break!

Hull City 1 - 1 Brentford (Ouattara)

I might give up on the BBC commentary. Some numpty woman, more interested in giving the time (it’s on the screen!) than meaningful words, and Curtis Davies (ex-Hull)….
