Keith Andrews post match reaction pretty much rules out any chance of a successful appeal.
My point is I think VAR should have thought about the force more (Brooks missed it I think). In terms of the appeal that is another issue-threshold, I think @Banana has already said the club is not going to appeal and I get that. My understanding is the central threshold is whether:

“the Referee made an obvious error in dismissing the Player.”
That is the test in the FA Disciplinary Regulations I think; happy to be corrected. The player or club must establish the error; merely showing that another referee might have given a yellow card will generally be insufficient.

And this comes back to my Webb criticism that the lack of consistency on violent conduct means the appeal is unlikely to succeed and I can see why the club may decide against trying.

It will be interesting what outcome the KMI Panel arrives at re the need for a VAR intervention...

Darren England was the VAR yesterday. He was the referee for Liverpool v Bees at the end of last season.

My assessment of his performance:

For those who disagree with my views on officials, today is a prime example of the problem.

Darren England has given every possible foul to Liverpool and ignored even the most egregious fouls on Bees players.

There will be no scrutiny of the performance and no accountability.

Another job well done for PGMOL and rinse and get ready to repeat next season.

All this makes me sick, YY didn't move his head forward woth force it was his chest followed by the very very slightest movement of the head whilst looking at the ref waiting for him to penalise the Liverpool player who was facing the wrong and intent on walking straight into him, the fact that he was laying prone on the floor like he'd been hit by Mike Tyson is even more embarrassing. The game is turning into ridiculous decisions (depending who you play for) that are making fans not enjoy the beautiful game and then listen to press and pundits talking absolute b------s about violent conduct. If you want bullying and violent conduct just watch Argentina every week !!!!!!

Yehor Yarmoliuk

This isn’t quite correct. There is a lower threshold when contact is with the head.

As per Law 12:

In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.

Once any contact is made, the only thing that prevents a red is if the force is negligible.

The strongest arguments for Yarmo are 1) no evidence of contact and alternatively 2) any force was negligible.

If I’m BFC, I’d seriously be considering an appeal.
Dont think there will be an appeal, not because the club dont feel hard done, but because it is unlikely to succeed. The clue was in what Andrews said after the game about what we have to do better, not the officials. You have to be pragmatic in these circumstances, no point taking the moral high ground if its likely to mean a further extension to YYs suspension. I feel very strongly about what happened, but you have to take the emotion out of it. At the end of the day you cannot excuse YYs actions, the club will be fully aware of this, hence no appeal.

How many of us on here have played in a pressure cooker like the PL, for goodness sake cut the lad some slack, who hasn;t made mistakes in their life.
Yehor will feel terrible as it is, hopefully learn to handle it better but we will probably never get the benefit of doubt that big clubs get so we probably have to live with it or get better with the dark arts.

You have hit the nail on the head there.
Its now a game a bit of football with a lot of cheating and seeing who the ref sides with

I'd say Keith is playing the long game. The chances of getting anything overturned by appealing are, IMHO, minimal but his words may soften some referees' opinion of us.

We’re fortunate that we’re playing Hull next week as they won’t be able to amplify the ‘overly physical’ narrative that happened pre Liverpool

IT doesnt matter, we still will be on the short end of decisions against the big clubs

Who knows, its possible i guess. But just looking at those couple of seconds where Yarmo raises his head towards Jacquet there us no way on earth that will be overturned. In the end imo the options open to Keith are limited, so the end decision sort of chose itself anyway.

Yehor Yarmoliuk

I just watched it again and again ,as I said before he is clearly pushed from behind into Jackie

Yehor Yarmoliuk

If the Club chose not to appeal, then he's suspended. No amount of analysis or whataboutery is going to alter that. He'll be rested and hopefully fit and raring to go for Brighton.

Yehor Yarmoliuk

Keith always makes the point of not commenting on things out of his control eg. incompetent officials. Yehor followed the same policy. Fortunately the paying public don't have to follow that policy and can call out cheating and inept officials.
You're completely ignoring what he actually said. This was his quote: "I think we should do better [with the sending off]. I think Yarmolyuk needs to learn from that and he will."
So he's saying Yehor screwed up, regardless of the provocation. I wish others could be as honest.

Yehor Yarmoliuk

If we appeal, is the Liverpool player he made contact with going to be involved?

How is it being dishonest querying whether it's a correct interpretation of the rules?

What Andrews said was for public consumption, internally he may think, and say, something else.

Maybe he's saying Yarmo screwed up.
But what he's said could also be interpreted in a number of ways.
One being:
"It's clear that when we're up against a "bigger", more fashionable team, our players have to be much more careful than the oppositions ("do better"), otherwise the officials will take any opportunity they are given to favour the big club. Yarmo (and all of our other players, including Janelt (for talking to the ref - even though he's Captain; and Thiago - for slight nudges on the opposition that others get away with) need to not give the refs this chance. ("learn from that")".

The PL set piece culture is steeped in the dark arts.
If you act naïve you get punished.
Yarmo is learning. If this moves him closer to being able to play the dark arts game and get us three points in the future in doing so I'm all for it.
Bad luck Yarmo, silly boy Yarmo, Well done Yarmo

Yehor Yarmoliuk

I think that a few things are true. 1. The best view for it is the view from behind from the net. 2. He wasn't pushed into Jacquet. 3. Primary contact was chest/shoulder, and it was meant to be a shoulder barge. 4. There was still head contact. 5. Jacquet absolutely played it up to buy a red card. 6. While soft, by the letter of the law it is still a red card.

It's awful all around for us but my best hope is that Yarmoliuk learns from this and comes back as a stronger and more level-headed player.

Yehor Yarmoliuk

This is the clearest view I could find, there is no one bumping YY from behind

View: https://x.com/CFCplays/status/2111511714290389039

My view was from the same angle a few rows back. The same incident looking completely different from various angles. This incident started long before the start of the video and the ref did nothing to stop it. You can see the ref watching the whole interaction. The ref was shown one angle. Watch the feet. Who is bumping into who ? Jacquet , a player not facing the ball. Yehor is looking and appealing to the ref. He pushes back at Jacquet with his left shoulder. His head naturally turns. Heads touch. Jacquet collapses. I didn't notice as I followed the game as did the ref. Did a head injury protocol happen ? I'd call that simulation. An attempt to win a foul or get YY sent off. A bookable offence. VAR does stick it's head in. On review. A "headbutting action" - in the words of referee John Brooks. It didn't meet the conditions to qualify for the definition of violent conduct as the "force" used was negligible. 3 days later I'm over it just about.
I'll review this for consistency for your remaining games Mr.Brooks and VAR.

Based on Haaland last season and Jacquet on Saturday, a clear message is being sent out by the PGMOL (or whatever they're called):

"If you feel the slightest brush from a coming together of heads, collapse to the ground, and stay down. You'll guarantee getting your opponent a Red card".

Wonder what would happen if both players did it?!
A bit like the scene in Porridge where the boxing match is fixed and the only way Fletch can get out of it is for both boxers to throw themselves to the canvass when they lay a slight blow on each other!!!

Or maybe it's don't lean in to another player with a head movement towards their body ?
Use upper body strength, not arms, not head, not feet.....

Or…you’re 1-0 up going into injury time, all you have to do is see the corner out and it’s half time, smile at the opponents silly antics and ask him “what’s the score mate” and watch him get even more wound up.

Yehor Yarmoliuk

Let’s just focus on this.
Indeed. Yehor needs to turn the next couple of weeks into an unexpected opportunity to get himself 100% fit. Then he can be that 90+ minute midfielder for us, if required. Maybe some extra shooting practice, but definitely role plays to counter shenanigans in the box at set pieces.

2. Check out the wiki player tracker page. 👍
That's curious although very welcome. Don't recall ever seeing a confirmation. That sort of thing is almost always 3 games. But sounds like he and Vita will be back for Florist?

Think they mean 2 league games because he'll also miss the cup game.
