But… Hickys pass…...... for all you chaps and chapesses located in far South....West and Norf.... Anthony's run and cutback for the big fella to finish....was a thing of beauty....... champagne moment full stop....close thread now....... by order of the East Stand Defenders

Not fit to lace Aaron's boots.Match: Hickey’s Eriksen-like inch perfect cross field pass.
... and pace, perfect! I thought, 'Anthony's not going to get to that' but it just seemed to slow and he caught it up.On the actual football has to be Hickey’s pass. I was right in the line of the pass and how he put a perfect curve on it. Breathtaking
It even had a bit of spin on it to make it check up. If it was a golf shot it would've rattled the pin... and pace, perfect! I thought, 'Anthony's not going to get to that' but it just seemed to slow and he caught it up.
Quality supportPete Gilham's announcement, after our 1st goal. Went something like:
Brentford 1 nil up and who cares who the goalscorer was.
Damp squib moment. No trains back home and out of Euston, due to signalling issues around Camden.
Decided to go too Marylebone train station. Got the slow train to Birmingham Moor Street. Walked from there to Birmingham New Street. Then train to Crewe, where my car is parked.
Should've got home for 8.30pm. Will probably get home by midnight, but at least we won.
....he was born where golf was born....lest we forgetIt even had a bit of spin on it to make it check up. If it was a golf shot it would've rattled the pin

It wasn't just the pace, spin or accuracy, it was also how he received the ball, spun and then hit the pass, despite the ball sitting up awkwardly, after his initial control. I keep watching it back on the highlights; it was a superb bit of skill. It even had a bit of spin on it to make it check up. If it was a golf shot it would've rattled the pin
Mmm ... I had no idea at the time what he was moaning about. Look again and Thiago pulls him over by his arm. Got away with one there. About time. Couldn't have happened against a nicer club.Something else I enjoyed, having watched the highlights, was the protest from their number 23, after Dango scored. I wasn't looking there, at the time, but the muppet ended up on the floor because he was holding Thiago and it was when Igor broke free that he lost his balance and fell.![]()
And it was fired at Aaron at high speed, so the control of the ball before the pinpoint pass... and pace, perfect! I thought, 'Anthony's not going to get to that' but it just seemed to slow and he caught it up.
I dunno. I don't think Igor is holding him. I think it's when Igor pulls away, the defender is still holding on and is off balance. But, as you say, it couldn't have happened to a nicer club.Mmm ... Didn’t see that. If anyone has a clip, please share. Thanks
I agree. Also can’t help thinking that if Igor had touched the ball into the net the officials would have called it a foulI dunno. I don't think Igor is holding him. The Funky Gibbon? The range of older songs that actually took off a bit more than usual in the West Stand. More of this please. A shame all of our newer songs are all generic ones pinched from other clubs or "insert players name that fits with chant, DU DU DU".
South should have rallied with “We were the Braemar…”, North with “We were the New Road”, but I suppose 50% of occupants may not know the wordsI agree. Also can’t help thinking that if Igor had touched the ball into the net the officials would have called it a foul![]()
There were a few near me in the North that sang the New Road bit in response. Made me feel quite nostalgic. I could imagine it as my seat is in a virtually identical position - minus a girder of course.South should have rallied with “We were the Braemar…”, North with “We were the New Road”, but I suppose 50% of occupants may not know the words![]()
And if you think we're wrongI’m actually having an assist for 1st goal v forest as started singing the classic “ a goal a goal is all we need etc etc” and we did a minute later![]()
It's had some good outings so far this seasonI’m actually having an assist for 1st goal v forest as started singing the classic “ a goal a goal is all we need etc etc” and we did a minute later![]()
I've heard this song for 30 odd years and always thought it was as 'a golden goal' rather than 'a goal, goal' until reading this. #newbrentfordI’m actually having an assist for 1st goal v forest as started singing the classic “ a goal a goal is all we need etc etc” and we did a minute later![]()

January 1997! I remember sitting at the front of the New Road and freezing my nuts off. Was the quickest golden goal scored at the time IIRC.
doofus.
but i do remember us getting a golden goal vs barnet in an LDV match at GP in one of the coldest games of all time. so you would have been right once at least![]()
