We've tweaked the captaincy order, haven't we?

Previously, if Collins was out but Jensen and Janelt were both playing, Matti was captain.
Returning from injury, I assumed Jensen was not scheduled to last the full game.

Not sure I would describe him as not being "at it". I thought he battled himself to a standstill today, effectively broke up a lot of Liverpools midfield play and kept Macallister & Wirtz pretty quiet. His use of the ball was generally quite precise, especially since we were a man down for half the bloody game.

Haven't a clue what earned him a first caution in Brooks estimation but Liverpool players like Alisson & Van Dijk were gobbing off at the ref all game. The second bookable offence probably was but he had just run 45 yards and was so desperate not give the scousers a clear run on goal he made a rash decision.

He'll be a big miss in the Hull game for sure.
Gary O'Neill was spot on about there being a sub concious & I suspect with some refs a concious big team bias.IMO referreing standards have got worse not better under Webb.
Last week Mcginn, this week Van Dijk.Did someone not tell Brooks Vita was our captain & hence allowed to talk to him?

Bruno Fernandes spent most of his game this afternoon waving his harms aggressively at the ref. Vitaly must be using really bad language to warrant these yellows.

He's allowed to talk to the ref. He's not exempt from the laws when it comes to dissent. I'm not sure he's quite got to grips with the distinction yet.

He’ll have a few days to think about it now. These days, teams are loaded with international players so it leaves me guessing how the half time team talk goes.

With some of the arm waving histrionics we see from oppo players it really makes you wonder how Vitaly managed to pick up a first yellow for dissent. They likes of VVD, Macallister, Allison etc appeared to be questioning every single decision and on occasion demanding sanction against our players with impunity. McGinn might as well have reffed the game at Villa Park last week.
The biggest problem with PL refs is a stunning lack of consistency with their decision making.

Vitaly Janelt

He played really well. We were against Liverpool with 10 men and he was one of only two in midfield for more than half the game. He got his second yellow only after chasing a lost cause and trying to keep us in the game in the dying seconds. You want players like that.

As for the first yellow. I think harsh. McGinn got away with 90 mins of that the other week. Reading between the lines of KA post match he probably feels the same.

He was suspended for Hull anyway. A break probably does him good.

Cole Palmer booted the ball up in the air in disgust at Everton. He didnt get booked......

Not sure hes the right pick for Captain.

Needs to cut out the dissent.

Still class though.
Maybe KA thought it would help with cutting out the yellow cards for dissent, with the captain allowed to talk to the ref.
Well that didn't work.

Vitaly Janelt

So, suspended for Saturday or not?
Totally confused by how many Yellows he was on, and which cards count for which competitions.....

Vitaly Janelt

Since acting as captain he seems to be booked every game for dissent. I thought the captain was permitted to question the ref.
We don't know the language he used to frame his questions.

He’s not permitted to use foul language or show clear dissent. Being captain doesn’t exempt you from the laws of the game

To be fair to him, the last 4-5 games the standard of refereeing has been so poor and the amount of decisions going against us so high I am not surprised he is losing the plot. Not sure I would have stayed on the pitch.

Vitaly Janelt

He controlled himself very well yesterday after the ref gave a drop ball when we clearly had possession. He was very visibly resisting the urge to call the ref a silly tw*t. More of that please janet

Oh fair enough. English is not his first language though so hope they take that into account. Thomas used to use the F work all the time.

Vitaly Janelt

Is he still technically one booking short of a one match ban and the booking in the carabao last night sort of disappears into the ether or have I got it wrong?

Vitaly Janelt

That was a really stupid unnecessary booking. I love him but he was brain dead.

Needed to score when he shot judy over late on too.
He's been booked 13 times since the start of the year despite being out of action for the best part of 3 months at the end of last season. The argument from some that it's down to the additional pressure of captaincy doesn't hold. I love him too by the way.

During which time he’s also been finally capped by Germany, under Klopp.
Spin can always go both ways..
I bet I love him more❤️
