Really? Let’s be honest, he’s not better than what we already have. He needs to stay there, play football and develop.
He at least looks to beat his man and delivers quality into the box rather than just pass it backwards or look to fall over at any chance. We miss someone like him in the squad right now, especially when chasing games.

Don't think we can recall a season long loan.
It depends on the details of the loan agreement… but it will be better if he stays and gets a season’s experience at that level.

Love Romelle to bits. We have a fantastic talent on our hands. When he played for us last year, his delivery having beaten his man needed lots of work.

He has made a massive step by breaking into a Wilder eleven. Now to work on the delivery. Regular assists and the odd goal would prove his loan excellent development and a great success.

It was a typical Romelle game. Brilliant in the first half, and not present in the second. When he's able to play 90 minutes at a high level, he'll more than an exciting prospect. Definitely looking forward to that.

We are sat in 6th with one defeat all season and you get this sh*t from your own fans.
Nothing wrong with not dropping standards and expecting more from the team and continued improvement…. Very similar ethos and values that you’ll find at Councils

Looks better than what we have currently. If he continues this, we need to recall in Jan.
Recall for what? To sit in the reserves?

Schade
Outtara
Anthony
KLP
Damsgaard

All of these would start in his position over him at the moment at quite rightly so. Romelle is work in progress and at the right level to develop.

I would guess he'll be sat on our bench next season, or maybe even the one after.

😂😂😂

Wilder has made himself look like such a prat.

A good chance for Romelle tonight. PNE are awful and look nailed on for relegation.
Has he? Looks to me like he's gradually integrating him into the team as he builds up his fitness and stamina and as he gets experience. Mature management.

Bit like we did with DJ Campbell

That is absolutely not what the post I was replying was infering. He was saying bring him back because the current lot are not good enough, which is utter bollox considering what we are achieving this season.

I think our whoosh airplanes may have collided mid air ✈️💨✈️

I think this is an excellent loan for him. He’s having to fight for his place against a stubborn Wilder who has absolutely no time for anything he sees as a bad attitude (he binned out Spence when at Boro for this) or a lack of work rate. Rom’s attitude seemed a problem at Brum and has been changed in our supportive atmosphere so it’s good to give him the challenge of not regressing or sulking even with the knowledge that he and the fans can see how good he is.

The Championship is physically tough and he’s a little guy who’ll be picking up the resilience and street smarts to keep on plugging away at defenders and picking himself up repeatedly to go again. He’s also feeding Diaz and Bamford who are both some way past their best so really need him to supply perfect crosses rather than flatter his pass quality with their own pace, positioning and control.

If he can continue making his place undeniable in this context even with a pig headed old school manager who probably naturally doesn’t fancy players like him he’ll have learned way more than if he’d gone to a better team with a more supportive coach where he may have been able to cruise and stat pad. It’s at the moment pretty ideal as preparation to return and compete for starts with a much more supportive structure he will be able to appreciate.

Blows my mind that a young proffesional athlete needs to build up stamina and fitness

One thing that a lot of people don't take into account or understand is that there is a level of mental stamina and fitness that needs to be built up to, the ability to push yourself. It takes a level of mental toughness that you really have to build up over time, the ability to do a little more and a little more.

How does he compare to Bryan playing for us in the championship at the same age? He’s not at that level yet in my opinion.

He maybe a bit better, my memory is fading but I think Bryan was more frustrating , his shooting wasnt great either .Romelle has a great shot . If you look at the recent high lights in games Romelle had played in ,he's come on quite a bit from the last time I saw him play for us

In the 2019 / 2020 Championship season, as a 20 year old Bryan scored 16 goals and made 8 assists in 47 appearances. Only 8 goals the following year but 16 assists. Romelle is a year younger but fair to say he's not pushing that level just yet.

Sheffield Utd are not anywhere near as good as Brentford in the Championship, before we went up.

They arent. But Romelle isnt playing at the level Bryan was at that time either.

Hes doing very well but lets not put too much expectation on him unnecessarily.

Common sense.

It's lovely to be excited about the player, but I can't help but feel people are getting ahead of themselves.

Mbeumo scored 15 goals in his first Championship season albeit in a much stronger and more attacking side than Sheff U.

His shooting might be being remembered as less good than it is because of having a different role in his second season and hitting the post a lot in our first season up.

Has his moments but sometimes a bit like a headless chicken. Can develop while playing plenty of games in Championship though.

Romelle Donovan (on loan to Sheffield United)

The biggest step forward for Romelle would be for him to learn how to use his right foot more. At the moment he's very tricky but predictable in that if he's played on the left, he will be trying to deliver a cross, while if he's played on the right, he will be cutting inside, aiming to shoot. Which side suits him best is open to debate, but I've been impressed with his shooting ability in the past.
