We have a TEAM now and don't need to rely on the same two or three every week to get a result. All done despite the referee's best endeavours.

My spine hasn't tingled like that at GP since the days of MA. Singing them home at the end was magic from the old days. We sounded like double the 4000 Bees there. :bound:

Charlie and Nathan took their goals like the strikers we have been waiting for.

D&R have a lot of goals in them and we kept them at bay but were over reliant in the first half on Hamer's brilliance. Their no 7 was class.

Thought Newton was on defensive and offensive form today. Though I would prefer a more vocal skipper as Matty was last year. There is nothing from him at the defence of set pieces and it would calm the nerves if he imposed himself more.

Poole worked really hard and had some moments of brilliance going forward. He was on fire at the end.

We're obviously weak in the centre of the park. Looked a lot better for the short time KOC was on the pitch. His sending off looked bizarre but I was a long way away.

It was so good to see a Brentford team tough it out as they did at the end. Nathan Elder's delight at winning was a joy to behold.

Absolutely. This lot genuinely seem to work hard for each other and play good football. Last time we really had that at GP was Coppell's team.

I thought it was a great game of football and D&R probably feel they deserved a point from the game - it could have been so different if Hamer hadn't made those two great saves in the first half before we scored.

Looking forward to Wycombe now. This team is going places.

What a great advert that was for our league, I though both teams played well, we would have lost that last season.

Good solid performance against a Dagenham who surprised me with their resilience and strength going forward.

In their number 7 Saunders they had the best performance of any player against Brentford all season, he had vision, pace and class - fantastically well taken goal too when we went to sleep at a quickly taken free kick.

We were under the cosh early on but clung on thanks to Hamer and showed our determination by fighting our way into the game with a flurry of corners.

We scored 2 well taken goals, the second a classic breakaway with Poole judging his pass perfectly and Charlie never looked like missing,

The socond half was a battle but we held on after Willimas's horrendous miss from a spilled drive by Keven O'Connor.

Poor Kevin improved us when he replaced the ineffective Pead and I want to see the tackle again which saw him sent off before commenting - was it late, was it high, was it two footed, was he pushed - perhaps someone closer to the action can comment.

We looked safe and determined in defence, working as a unit against 2 very good strikers in Strevens and Benson who was a real handful.

Wilson (thank you Welsh FA for letting him play) and Bennet were excellent and Newton (what happened in that off the pitch challenge that saw him booked) and Johnson were difficult to pass.

Williams splutters in action from time to time but does his share of coverign and Poole, probably aware that Dickson is breathing down his neck, is a different player and has added some of the necessary defensive side to his game.

Bean too did well but we lack a partner for him and will now miss KOC for 3 games.

Elder bullied them and took his goal well and as for Charlie - he is a classic poacher who is calm in front of goal and always finds that bit of time and space. He is clinical and had 3 chances - I blocked by Roberts, 1 against the post and 1 goal. He also works hard.

Tony Roberts was good value, taking his ribbing in good spirit and also venturing dangerously upfield for a late corner.

The game was a credit to the Division and we look a threat.

Really good game of football. I though today we mixed it up much better, sometimes went long then other times got the ball down on the deck. I thought from front to back they all worked really hard for each other. Hamer made a couple of excellent one handed saves in the first half and a really good save at his back post in the last 10 minutes. Having said that their keeper Roberts also made a couple of smart saves from McDonald. Great to hear all three sides singing at the end and great reaction from the players at the end. Kev's foot was high but certainly there was no malice and I think he may have slipped or even been pulled backwards by one of their players which meant his foot was off the ground. Roll on Wycombe next week.

Brentford v Dagenham - Reports and Reaction

An excellent game and a very good performance by us. I was surprised how well Dagenham played - a far better side than last year - but we were fantastic first half and deserved our two goal lead.

They came out far more determined and we needed to ride the storm but unfortunately gave away a poor goal when the defence was caught napping and they scored with a good finish. I thought that had we kept them out for the first 15 we would have won comfortably but suddenly we were under more pressure than we should have been. Dagenham were unlucky on a couple of occasions, KOC came on to bolster up the midfield and replace the poor Pead but then got sent off for tackling.

Strangely, Dagenham looked far less dangerous after that and we hung on for a win that I thought we deserved in the end because of our first half performance.

Good time at GP. If you don't go currently, you really should think of popping along - it's going to be a good season.

The lino had his flag up for offside. It wouldn't have counted...but it was an unreal miss lol

If we appealed successfully about Kevs dismissal would it be reduced by 1 or 2 games or do they have the ability to turn the straight red into a yellow effectively meaning no ban?

Everythings's OK with the world.

Eating breakfast at Denny's on the strip in Las Vegas. The temperature is about 35 & I get a text to say the Bees have won.

Morning Mads, Bruv & Little Chipp.

Missing you already.lol

I understand it that a referee can 'review' his decision and report it as a yellow if at all. He can mention in match report he may have got it wrong.
The appeals can downgrade it, or wipe it away completely.

I think if the ref still deems it a foul after watching it again, he won't downgrade it to yellow. He has to accept that it was clean challenge and that he was wrong imo.

Good game today, really enjoyed it, although I was very nervous for the last 10 minutes. Hamer made two great saves in the first and half and we scored to strikers goals.

A good Elder header from a corner and a fantastic counter attacking goal from Charlie Mac, set up fantastically by Poole. D&R look like a good side and they will be there or thereabouts come May. Being at the back of Ealing Road I don't think I can comment on the Red card, although I was surprised by it.

Good win today, Mr Gloryhunter needs to get his walking boots on! :sorted:

What a tremendous game of football. It could not have been more different from last Saturday when there was not a single shot on goal. Fair play to Dagenham who unlike Rotherham were prepared to take the game to us.
We have 2 really solid central defenders who seem to get better with every game, and a class act keeper. Not sure about the central midfield pairing, and I think Mr Scott timed the substitution about right as the game was passing Pead by and Bean was just about holding up. It is not that Pead is lacking in effort, but you could see as soon as kev came on that we had a ball winner, particularly in the air.
The sending off was a strange one. AS said that some of the players saw Kev tugged back, which might explain why the foot was so high and the studs showing. However, if the ref has not seen the tug he has to send him off.....a bit like a player leading with the arm on Wilson in the first half (for which the Daggers player did not even get a talking to!).

Brentford v Dagenham - Reports and Reaction

Agree that it was a good advert for lower league footie today.

Again Hamer was brilliant, defence solid in all areas, wide midfield attacked and worked hard and upfront Elder and Macdonald took their goals well. Jury's still out for me on central midfield - we can't have both Pead and Bean as they are very average. I'm still to see anything in Bean so far and hope he's dropped once O'Connor and Smith return.

I was fairly level with the O'Connor sending off and it appeared to me to be a hard but fair tackle where he got the ball. Definitely wasn't two footed.

The club got what they wanted today in that there were 3 Chelsea fans sat behind me in E Block. "Ooh, Drogba would have smashed that into the net if he'd been in that position" and "They need a Lampard in midfield" were excellent quotes but the best has to be "£18 quid to get in? They must be raking it in, I reckon there's at least 4,000 fans here today" Er, raking it in? Just how much does it cost to get into Stamford Bridge these days?! Brilliant rofl

Brentford v Dagenham - Reports and Reaction

See what you mean Les, yes it WAS Poole who had the initial shot that was spilled.

Brentford v Dagenham - Reports and Reaction

First half we came out and played some good football passed it about a bit but still hooded it a bit too much for my likeing. Bean dident have his beat game and people are still probly slagging him off, but he has alot of quality preformaces still to come in a Brentford shirt. My MOTM was Elder who just dident stop running and scored his goal. Spical mentions to Wilson, Bennett and Williams who al had very good games.

Brentford v Dagenham - Reports and Reaction

Don't think so :(

Poole had the shot, from which Roberts saved, and then Williams missed the rebound, i didn;t see the flag for offside though.

This was a tough game, a good game to win IMO, Dagenham were threatening from the kick off, Hamer produced some excellent keeping and kept us in the game first half. Two well taken goals, Elder finally getting a header! and Charlie cooly finishing off a break away goal, he could've had one before but for the post!

Wilson was excellent alongside Bennet, Johnson was solid and Newton was good alround, especially his crossing.

Poole was lively, and maybe having Dickson around will see him stepping up his effort more, Williams was a good outlet and sent of a few good balls.

My worry is Bean and Pead/O'Connor, they're not good enough at present, Bean i thought was the ideal player for us this season but he lacks some umph! AS has to sort out the CM players for us to have a promotion side IMO.

But this was a great win and keeps us up there.

Correct....but the flag DID go up, it wouldn't have counted.

Personally I thought Bean had a good game, particularly first half, though he missed two half chances

Brentford v Dagenham - Reports and Reaction

O'Connor did lunge in but I think he got the ball (or most of it !) but I'm fairly sure it wasn't two footed. A very harsh red but no chance of winning an appeal I wouldn't have thought.

Very strong performance today after the first 20 minutes which we let them dominate and against a team that looked very threatening going forward.

Creditable performances all round but personally I'd like to single out Glenn Poole who I think has been excellent all season and made both goals again today. I know he has his critics who highlight any incident where he doesn't track back or chase a 50 yard lost cause but this season he has been committed as well as our most creative player.

Not overly convinced about the centre midfield pairing that started today and O'Connor's three game ban won't help the position but I'd go for Fartus ahead of Pead next week.

A game of many corners.....!

Very entertaining end to end stuff.....as others have said a good lower league game with three very good goals. It may have lacked finesse at times on the slippery surface but when both keepers are busy and making fine saves you know you are watching a decent game.

The spirit and determination of this side is a joy to behold.

GP was really rocking at the end.....first time like that for a long time.

What a great advert for lge 2 footie took along a lapsed bee today and he will be back we need more people to see this team they deserve more than 4k crowds so call up all those stayaway mates and bring em along next time ! Best moment of the afternoon was the Elder celebration at the end it was his coming of age today as a bee he ran his bo**ocks of in those last 10 mins and was a threat all afternoon ...it was his dad in the stand he was acknowledging...he should be proud of him !!!

Very enjoyable, much more tham Grimsby IMO. Our ex Cobbler at LB was superb and Dagenham are not a bad side. Pead is crap and Bean hasn't produced yet, we need that midfield to get started.

Great game, best I've seen in quite a while

Good cross, great header for first goal and the Poole run / MacDonald finish goal was excellent - That is what Poole gives you. he can be ineffective on occasions, but it is quite possible without that bit of play we would have dropped two points

If we had one of their players for one of ours in a certain position I'd be even happier

I thought they were a very good side and can't believe they finished so low last year

I am quite confident now we can finish top seven, there are still some areas to work on but we are heading in the right direction. Promotion is certainly a possibility this year

I looked at the linesman seconds after Williams missed the rebound and at that point the flag wasnt up.
