Wayne Rooney

Can't do much wrong lately ! ... must be the Worlds 2nd best player (after Messi) at the moment ?????

Hope this rich vein of form continues well into July :sorted:

Wayne Rooney

A world class footballer who would get in any club side or national side in the world. And to think he is only 24 and has not peaked yet.His talent is immense and the way he is hitting form at present is grreat timing for South Africa in June.

Wayne Rooney

Just hope he stays injury free for the rest of the season!

Wayne Rooney

I'd rather he was playiong for Brentford - He would make a good impac sub for when Charlie starts feeling knackered after all his running around.

Wayne Rooney

On fire. Sheer Class.

Either burnt out or injured by June then

Wayne Rooney

He needs a 6 week break, some sort of non-serious injury lay off to re-charge his batteries.

Wayne Rooney

I'm beginning to think that Rooney might have been better off had he remained at Goodison Park rather than being constantly under national scrutiny in the Old Trafford goldfish bowl.

me too

Wayne Rooney

I pray he doesn't get injured and misses the World Cup because without him we are ******.

Wayne Rooney

Rooney is an overrated arrogant fat mess of a bit part player, plays one half decent game in six yet when he plays that one game he is a so called world beater if refs were strong enough hed be sent off every game as well but that cant happen cos he plays for good old do no wrong Man Utd

:D Jimbee is right....

Wayne Rooney

I wonder what California Bee and Steveleedsbee views are now?:fishing:

Only a complete moron could not see what Rooney had about him.

He is the best British footballer I have ever seen and is in a class of two or three in the world at the moment.

I truly hope the World Cup sees the best of him.

Having had the pleasure of watching him at OT a few times, Rooney would be the first name on my teamsheet every time - even ahead of Messi  The work and running that he does off the ball is unbelievable and his temper seems to have calmed down a bit now resulting in more concentration.

Yep - they'll invent a new bone especially. Just like the metatarsal.

Wayne Rooney

Yes .. the run he did against Arsenal the other week .. started the move on the edge of Man U's penalty area and sprinted 90 yards to get on the receiving end and stroke home :sorted:

His second goal last night was beautiful to watch .. the lay off, lovely floated cross, the timing of the run and the powerfully placed header :love2:

Wayne Rooney

I had a feeling I would of posted on page one! Great Read! :D

I get the feeling that if Manure ever lost Rooney then they would be a very average side.

I get the feeling that they would be £50m richer and would buy good replacements. That's why they win league titles.

Heard that said about Duncan Edwards, Bobby Charlton, Georgie Best, Eric Cantona, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and now Wayne Rooney. Now if they ever lost their cheque-book they would become a very average side.

More than half your list were players they paid nothing for

Wayne Rooney

Just heard a Fulham fan on 606 saying Zamora's a better player than Rooney on current form because he scored today and Rooney didn't lol

In football today money doesn't just enable the rich clubs to buy top players they want it also means they don't have to sell their own top players either as Everton had to with Rooney.

Wayne Rooney

But Man United sold their best player last summer

The point, gentlemen, was not that rich clubs don't choose to sell players from time to time. They don't have to sell their top talent as the less wealthy clubs are financially forced to do when the big clubs make offers they cannot refuse just as Brentford had to sell DJ Campell and Everton had to sell Wayne Rooney.

BTW WEB, you should take something for that dandruff!!:scratch: :);):D

i respect your opinion CB, but not on Man Utd. you clearly don't like them and it clouds your judgment :)

Thanks for that Mr. Tree. I must admit that your assessment does contain a thread of logic. In my experience I have found it common among people for their own opinions to have considerable affect on their judgment. On the other hand it is also true that a person's judgment can usually be found to have led them when their conclusions are that they like or dislike something.

In the case of Manchester United it is impossible not to acknowledge that at every level their performance over the past twenty or more years both on and off the field has been phenomenal and their standard of football continues to be stellar. My only gripe as most on here already know, is that their great wealth and resulting power has been used to enable them to become the leading, some might say founding, member of a small and wealthy cartel that has cornered the market in football and football management talent. As a result most of the huge revenues now generated from the sport now flow into the coffers of Manchester United and their cartel partners. In the process they have jointly wrecked competitive football in England.

Everton didn't have to sell Rooney because the offer was too good to refuse it was because he wanted to (and to deserved to) play at a higher level, not because they desperately needed the money.

Your recollection is not the same as mine and God knows my memory is far from infallible. However, my recollection is that Wayne Rooney, an Everton native, far from wanting to leave had declared himself "Blue for Ever" and inscribed his T-shirts with those very words. Newcastle United and Manchester United both bid for Rooney and Newcastle were no better prospects for "higher level" football than Everton as history has since shown.

The Times reported that "Newcastle United were close to signing Rooney for £18.5 million, as confirmed by Rooney's agent, but Manchester United ultimately won the bidding war and Rooney signed at the end of the month after a £25.6 million deal with Everton was reached. At the time of Rooney's sale Everton were struggling financially with a significant debt" and could not match the wage offers from the richer clubs. The Rooney deal helped turn Everton's finances around. Also Manchester United's website history ran a commentary on Ferguson's plan to land the Merseyside teenager.

Wayne Rooney

It certainly helped Everton's finances but alot of clubs are in 'significant debt' and don't have to sell. Rooney was stupid and naive with his 'blue for ever' shirts, but it's one thing saying you love the club and want to stay there for ever when you've just come through the youth ranks, are loved by the fans etc. but it's another thing saying that when Man Utd come knocking.

That's exactly the problem right there. How can you have a competitive league when all the best young players want to play for the same top club?

Shifting the goalposts :fishing:

How anyone can decry the competitiveness of the Premier League this season of all seasons is beyong me

Erm
1. Chelsea 61 pts
2. Man Utd 60 pts
3. Arsenal 58 pts

Everybody else at least nine points back

WEB - normally I think you are 99% on the ball - this statement is b***ocks mate

Man City, Aston Villa and Spurs have tried to open up the cosy big four at the expense of a Liverpool side that has a crap manager and plenty of injuries but besides that it is still a closed shop with a "situation as normal" sign up at the top as CB's post shows.

I really hope Arsenal win it just to show Man U and Chelsea it is possible to do it on about $300M (guess) cheaper

The sooner UEFA get some balls and ban all of them from European competition due to their debts the better the game will be :sorted:

Think you're on a sticky wicket here California. Chelsea's core has been the same for the past six years and will need rebuilding. Same with Manchester United. I think in the next few seasons we will be talking about a big seven rather than four and that's got to be an improvement. I personally admire the American sports and how they democratise the chances of all team having a chance of winning but it's different for football in Europe.

PS Aussie Bee, to take an immediate example Man City won at Chelsea, which is unheard of, and you don't think the Premiership is more competitive than last season?

I'd ask you to compare season on season before you decry my point as "b***ocks".

Chelsea, who will probably win the league, have lost five games - including to Wigan - no team has lost fewer than four and all have lost games they shouldn't.

How many games had teams lost after 28 games last year?
