Good going BFC, this deal was a long time in the works but one Uwe was keen to get over the line. He was highly regarded by Millwall and the Millwall fans. Was Captain last season for some of their campaign!

I'd imagine he has been signed as a centre back so Bidwell will still be on our radar

yep, can play both. Replaced Paul Robinson at centre half last season when Robinson was injured and took over the captaincy.

Just spoke to a Millwall fan at work. Apparently Jackett wanted to keep him for the start of the season as he was still unsure about their left back. Goes without saying that he is very disapointed that he has been allowed to sign for us. However more of a defensive centre back than an attacking one. That said, very happy with this signing

Experienced in the Championship. A good defender who will put his body on the line, but not one to make marauding runs into the opposition half. Can play left-back or centre-half so would still expect another left-back to come in - Bidwell? We now have Legge, Craig, Dean and Balkestein at centre-half. Would not be surprised to see Pim leaving now as he won't want to be fourth choice. If suspensions and injuries did take their toll, we can always bring in a loanee or call up on of the development squad - Mawson?
Hope we bring in Redwood for the DS too. Still raw but could push Craig/Bidwell.

This is a really serious sign of our intent to go places next season as TC is a very experienced and established first teamer at a decent Championship club and I bleieve that this will be a long term deal which will not come cheap either.
The deal has taken a very long time to come to fruition as I understand that moves were made to bring TC here on loan back in January. We also need some experience in our team to help the younge rplayers develop and lead them on the pitch.
He is a proven Championship level defender who can play both at CH and LB and will be the left sided defender that UR has been seeking.
More than that he is very vocal on the pitch and leads by example and will not put up with any slackers.
I fully expect him to be made captain and to form a partnership with Harlee Dean but be able to fill in a sneeded at LB.
I think that this will have no impact on our moves to sign Bidwell but it will certainly spell the end of Pim's chances of contributing next season and hopefully he will see the writing on the wall and try and fix himself up with a move elsewhere.

They were all excellent towards the end of last season. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a play-off tilt this campaign.

Just goes to show that we shouldn't get in a lather over apparent lack of activity in the transfer market as lots of things seem to be going on behind the scenes which the club manage to keep a lid on. I must admit that I am guilty of this perhaps because of the experience of previous seasons.
This seems a really good signing and is certainly a statement of intent, if one were needed, of the determination of the club to get out of this league.
I wonder how the defence will be set up now? I understand Dean is a left sided CB as is Pim and this would seem to be Craig's preferred position.
I dont think that Legge would be preferred to Dean, so it makes me wonder. Would agree that it still makes a return of Bidwell possible.

Just spoken to a Millwall supporter mate and he says that he will be a great signing for us, wears his heart on his sleeve, lacks a bit of pace but makes up for it with his all round 100% game. Very comfortable left sided defender who is best at centreback in his opinion. Its always nice to hear good things about new players. Roll on Walsall.

Disagree with your opinion on Pim. If we want to reduce the number of centre backs in the squad, Pim should be kept and let Legge go to find his true level, Conference or maybe league 2.

You may well have a point. Pim has shown that he can raise his game whereas with Leon he is what he is, a fully commited CB whose great in the air but just gives it back to the opposing midfield. He cant change and trying to get him to will just mess him up completely as was shown on a few occasions last season.

That's a tad harsh, beginning of last season most saw Leon as a future captain and Pim was another like Bennett that didn't deliver once he signed permanently. While Leon isn't the most skilful and unlikely to shine in the league above, when has Pim shown that he can raise his game - last really good performance I can recall was vs Everton wasn't it? You're surely not counting one reasonable game against Sheff Weds to form the opinion that he is the future.
I think it's irrelevant now as reckon it'll be Craig and Dean as first choice centre backs and Pim on the bench if he can't fix himself up a deal elsewhere which wouldbe better for us but maybe not him.

No news is good news, and that's exactly why management keep the lid on things nowadays, and that's how it should be, by doing what they are doing we now appear to be quitely assembling a team that can take us forward, previous seasons are now in the past lets hope this is a taste of things to come, I feel this could be the start of a very very good season with the players we are now picking up, onwards & upwards !!!

Certainly didn't mean it to sound that way. I like Leon and wouldn't want to see him spending most of his time on the bench. Just think that his style of way now is not going to fit in. This time last year we played a different game entirely.

I like the sound of a no nonsense defender who is a strong communicator that wears his heart on his sleeve.......what I like even more is that Millwall fans don't want him to leave and believe he is good enough to start in a team a league above with genuine promotion aspirations.
He sounds just what we need at the back, a leader and talker who's done it all before and can bring on the youngsters and dominate the opposition, now if we could be really greedy and ask for another one in midfield and one up front as well..........no harm in asking!

Two moves were unrelated, I think you'll find that Woodman was seeking a move away from the club. These things happen I guess.
I'm hoping Craig slots in at CB and we still have room to sign up a quality young LB.

Good signing this imo. Two positions covered by one player - you can imagine him playing left back in a tough northern outpost with Dean and Legge at centre back when needed.
