Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

 Bye Greg thanks for all your help.

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Does he want his money back first?! :suspect:

The new Chairman will be............ ???

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Good luck Greg. Will be sad to see you go mate.

I guess he wants a less important role now he is 65 & winding down a bit.

Great news as long as Mr Benham becomes chairman.

Why? I'd have thought MB would let the board appointment the next Chairman and that they would want to probably look at a current board member or bring in new blood. As MB has declined to be a director, I doubt he'd want to be Chairman, he is though still the owner and benefactor of our great club.....

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Good luck to him. Shame to see him leave really, thought he was a good person to have associated with us.

It's a very good appointment. A football man with a lot of media savvy.

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

FA Chairman. Obviously wants to see out his days sitting on a nice comfortable fence along with the rest of the FA

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

At the risk of being shouted at, what did Greg Dyke actually do for the club? And this is a genuine question - i am simply unaware of what material benefit we received from having him as Chairman.

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Good Luck Greg, and thank you !
I fel this is good news for the FA, and it also reflects very well on Brentford FC.

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

What about Mr Bird for Chairman. A pair of very safe hands, I would have thought unless someone of Greg's media profile is invited to front the club?

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Matthew Benham or Paul USA please

I'll go for the latter myself. Much richer and higher profile. The former likes to keep it low profile apart from when he's forced to make small talk with Olwsmoor Bee about his Geraniums;)

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

I vote vcmazz :sorted:

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Thanks for everything Greg and always welcome back at GP.

His successor, assuming MB does not want the job, should be abee or Paul USA in my opinion.

No doubt the board members will have different ides.

The oracle that is Joseph Barton has already had a pop on twitter. "Football needs football people" apparently

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

‏@Joey7Barton: Oh, great Greg Dyke is now appointed. That should help us close the enormous gulf between the English and a major tournament performance!

@Joey7Barton: What the f*ck does Greg Dyke know about football? Yet, another bureaucrat, placed in a position way to large for his domain expertise...

‏@Joey7Barton: Not having a go at Dyke, I bet he's a gorgeous human being. Its just that football needs football people right now.

Well I'll tell you one thing that football doesn't need right now and has in fact never needed and that is Joey bleeding Barton. So f*** off Barton!
I think he will make a bloody good chairman. He doesn't take crap and is innovative. Its a bit "off the wall" for the old school tie FA and he will probably wake up a few of the old farts.

From our point of view the chairman is merely a figurehead so I am really not bothered!

Barton is a prat.

Good luck Greg and I have the feeling he will be back at GP/BFC when he is done with the FA.

he never gets enough credit for inventing roland rat in my opinion.

I hope we get a good transfer fee... good luck greg.. :sorted:

If Joey Barton is upset and angry, then the FA have definately made the right decision!!

The pre-match meal in the directors box would be interesting if Gaffer got the gig

I'm voting for The Pipe.

Well if we're allowed to vote, then I'm backing nick logan. As Mr Barton wisely points out, football needs football people. No high-profile empty suits please.

Bernstein, 69, was appointed in 2010 and is forced to relinquish the post when he reaches 70 under FA rules.
so Greg will only gets 4 years in the job..

WTF does Joey Barton know about football?

Sadly he doesn't understand that we have moved on from the 50's when the FA commitie selected the team, sorry but the Chairman of the FA doesn't get involved with who plays for England but since he has a business and football background what more does he need on his CV???

Beating up passengers in a taxi - lets get Wise
Assaulting players on the pitch - Barton
Sitting on a wide fence - Brooking

I must go on twitter and have a chat to the french foreign legion.

Sent the nice Mr Barton a reply, very polite and didn't even say see you next tuesday

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Would expect someone from Matthew Benhams company will fill the role.I would prefer Matthew Benham to be chairman but l understand he prefers to remain out of the limelight.I expect Greg may have to take his 100k out of the club so let his replacement replace this loan.

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

typical cheap and snide comments.

voice of the braemar --- i bet he has done one thousand times more than you have. idiot.

congratulations greg.

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

I find the "what's he done for Brentford" comments amazing. It must be very re-assuring to have on board (literally) someone with his experience. You don't run multiple companies and the BBC without having a bit of business acumen which I reckon must be invaluable.

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Ive noted a lot of sarcasm in alot of the posts , so now i know martin allen is coming back to bfc ??? as chairman

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

Next chairman should be Alan Bird

I have never been sure what sort of "Brentford supporter"GD is.He supported us as a child then York City on to Man United as a fan and then director and back to us as board member and then Chairman so as a supporter not in the same league as me.Whats he done for Brentford?l believe he got Matthew Benham interested in the business side of the club if true that's good enough for me.

Good to see equality at the BEEB employing a Dyke.....hope they've got new carpets

Greg Dyke to become FA Chairman

If abee doesn't want the role then we need to get Carri Bee Un back from Australia to do it, not sure who we could put in charge of the site news forum.
