********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

This is it Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your last chance to help guide the club to a sustainable future.

Please see the article on the front page of the GPG and on the official site. We need a 2nd round of letters/e-mails in straight away to reflect the supplementary information published by the Club, if you haven't done so please do so and do not delay.

If you have done so, then ask your friends and your family if they have.

Complacency is our worst enemy, this is not a done deal.

There are some points which you may wish to consider in your response in the attached PDF below.

IF YOU HAVE DONE YOUR BIT, THEN PLEASE "LIKE" THIS POST

Crappy automated reply. Doesn't have to be a homage to James Joyce, just get those emails in.

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

Have re-emailed the Council planners, Mary MacLeod and my 3 local Councillors again with support. Didn't get a reply from any of the three Councillors last time but better luck this time !

If the Council turn down the opportunity to have a Community facility like this built in the borough without any cost to the Council they must need their bumps feeling !

First ever posted but just wanted it known I've emailed again & told everyone I know to pull their fingers out!

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

Also sent email just now... Hope their inbox can cope with all the messages they'll need to open in the morning.

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

email added to two previous and postcard.

Important to emphasise the misinformation being put out by the opponents and why have residents not voiced their concerns earlier when the information about the development has been in the public domain for so long.

My second email has now been sent - also writing a more general email for my friends to send in. Sent them a group message 30 minutes ago - 5 interested already. 2 attended on Saturday.

Anyone got any idea when a decision will be made, or thereabouts?

The planning meeting will be on the 5th December, responses need to get to the planning officer now.

The BIAS post at the start of this thread needs to get to a thousand "likes". Otherwise we might as well go home.

Ok, I've finally got round to sending my email of support. Its not a masterpiece but I know that it can be difficult drafting something so if anybody is struggling for inspiration and would like to see a copy of my email please pm me. I've copied it to all Planning Committee members because I think its important that they are all made aware of the depth of support for the proposals. The Members of the Committee will only receive a very high level summary of the representations both for and against but you can be sure that the opponents of the scheme will be constantly bending their ears so we need to be doing the same. You can find the contact details for the Planning Committee Members here;

http://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/mgCommitteeMailingList.aspx?ID=595

Now that we know the application will be considered by the Planning Committee on 5th December we need to start thinking about attendance at the meeting. It will be open to the public and, having attended literally hundreds of this type of meeting in my professional capacity I know that its vital Bees supporters are there in large numbers on the evening. Councillors are only human after all and for all the dry technical grounds on which they are supposed to assess an application waverers are liable to be swayed by a vocal audience. Our opponents will certainly be there and we need to be too. Most Planning Committees allow interested parties to make verbal statements at the meeting and I presume that the club and/or BIAS are already looking into how we can best use this to our advantage.

A key date is 27th November. This will be when the Committee's agenda is published (its possible that it will be a day or two earlier but the 27th is the statutory deadline). It will contain a very long and dry report on the application and, crucially, the professional recommendation of the Planning Officers. This has no legal standing - the Committee will make up its own mind - but if the recommendation is to approve then it would suggest that at the very least we would have strong grounds for appeal should the application be refused on the night.

I sent a Bristol Rovers supporting mate a copy of the "latest news" article on the front page "the final whistle is approaching" to keep him informed and he sent me this little gem about the struggles they are also having in regard to getting a new ground.....

Rovers got past this stage, then there was a Judicial Review, which was also positive AND THEN, a Greens local Councillor has formed a limited company and has set up a legal action challenging the Council’s process. It’s going to cost the ratepayers 100,000 quid and with a limited Company she will just liquidate the company if she loses. Bastards!

Let's hope we have an easier time of it then Rovers seem to be having

Already did my thing this Monday but was interested to read that misinformation is being sent around local residents. If this is the case can the misinformation be exposed in the local Press and to Councillors? Just a thought.

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

Agree a couple of pages in local press would be ideal dealing with the facts and myths

Not necessarily, miss information in their publications is one thing, but if their responses to the council just says "the flats are too tall, traffic concerns etc... then there is nothing we can do.

Also the leaflets have no indication who produced them.

Numbers and detailed letters are our best form of attack at the moment.

I can here people saying but surely councillors aren't that thick to believe residents lies over the facts in front of them when determining planning applications. Unfortunately they are and are part of the problem with the planning system.. For some unknown reason especially in hounslow over recent years the default setting of councillors is to vote on the side of misinformed nimbys as it's easier and in there eyes a vote winner!!! We need to shown them that the stadium is not a political risk and is beneficial to hounslow overall and the wider regeneration of Brentford...

The other annoying thing is that no doubt when this is debated at planning committee they will focus on the minor points such as traffic and how people will access the stadium. As this is there area of comfort not being trained professionals and the weight of objection means they overlook the professional reports and studies provided by professionals costing the club and council millions.

What I meant was could this be in addition to and not an alternative to letters. I would have thought that reference could be made to anonymous letters being delivered containing missinformation etc?

Done. From Bracklesham Bay address. Will another from the old Cromer address be accepted? Any ideas as to what extra to add from someone who lives miles from Houndlow?

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

Excuse me if this has answered before, but do the club get any feedback from the council regarding their submissions. I thinking particularly about the recent updates the club sent to the council

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

Done. I have a friend in Chiswick who will happily send something over if I forward it to him, has anyone written something from a local/ non Brentford fan point of view they wouldn't mind sharing?

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

Never posted before but this is so important. Have emailed planning this morning.

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

Thanks to organisers for the reminder. Have sent another email

********* Lionel Road: A Call to Arms **********

I'm sure those who have a contact address in the Borough [ family, friends etc ] have also written support from those local addresses ?

The Lionel Road team are in regular dialogue with the Planning Office, not direct with the Planning Committee for obvious reasons.

Managed to get 8 responses last night - sent them all an email to forward on to hounslow, the appropriate title and to leave their name and address on the bottom. All live in Eastcote, Ruislip and Uxbridge.

Just sent my updated e-mail and liked the original post.

As well as sending in an email some time ago re submitted with additions last week and given the family postcards to send in.

Might be an idea for all to do what I did this morning. Ealing Bees post 776 on the other Lionel Rd thread is very good, I've ammended some parts and E mailed it to a fellow Bee with the address and planning officers name for him, all he's got to do is fwd it on to Hounslow Planning. I've also asked him to fwd it to 2 mates so they can do the same and for them to send it on to two mates etc. Hopefully this will help. The Chiswick W4 site 2nd page in on the forum gives you an idea of the objections the club face.

This is probably a really dumb question, but, since I live about 75 miles away and your postal address needs to be included in any email, would an email from me be taken into account? I already emailed my support previously, but, at this stage, would they take any notice of someone not living in the local area?

I'm more than happy to send another email of support if ANYONE can still write in. Can someone please clarify the position on this?

Everything counts!!! Get writing and emailing everyone on your email accounts

Like you I now longer live in Hounslow. One of the points I made in my letter was that I now use the train so have no impact on the road infrustructure any more, and as Lionel Road has a station right outside more of my friends who are Bees supporters will also use the train, thus cutting down on road congestion around the area.
