Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

I am hoping BFC have got the product right for the new stadium, so where are the exciting plans and lift off for brand Brentford FC?
Since the ground breaking ceremony there has been nothing of any note.
With STs going on sale for the new stadium from October (proposed date this may well be put back), how is demand being created?
Part of my frustration stems from the fact that a lot of BFC fans I talk to are concerned about the plans for the new stadium and not excited by what's being done to make the stadium the dogs b***ocks and thus see the club grow.
I have offered help, support and feedback as product launches is part of my day job and am told it is all coming - so come on BFC let's start building some excitement and pride to overcome the fear and apathy.

Answers on a postcard to Conor Hayes c/o Brentford FC.

BFC are keeping so quiet these days, makes you wonder what the shock will be.
It's Brentford innit!!

I can see how intensely committed fans like Ace are concerned by this.

But before you make a big splash, you need something to make a splash with.

And for all but stadium nerds like you get on this forum, pictures of a building site, which will open in 18 months time (possibly), doesn't get the average punter's pulse racing.

I'd expect more in a couple of months time, when the steel and concrete starts to rise.

A flying start to the new season would help greatly, too.

I am not talking about a bit of steel and concrete being seen to be erected. Its more around creating excitement, selling the facilities to fans and selling the club to potential commercial partners and the wider public, media etc etc.

BFC fans were called upon to save the club and very many stood up and helped save the club, it baffles me why a company that still has many thousands of emotionally attached customers isn`t issuing any call to arms to help build the club. We have 5000 STs and so there`s a lot of STs to shift at the new stadium. The best marketing route BFC has is the fans and I feel they aren’t being used effectively.

Remember STs are provisionally planned for sale in October 18 that’s a few months.

BFC have promised a promotional video, VR to pick your seat (it`s unlikely you will be able to sit physically in seats before buying) and a marketing coms plan, but as yet I have seen nothing. Time is ticking and I am baffled at the lack of any tangible new stadium excitement building from BFC. Not even talking about the missed opportunity of, in general, brand BFC and commercial partner opportunities.

I have fed all this back to BFC in the past and am hoping that activity will ramp up considerably before STs and hospitality products go on sale.

Seems like some of the people in charge don't care about the fans anymore,
that's why the communication is so bad.

Best leave it until August 2020 :sorted:

Stop selling st’s in October 2018 too. This will be a pitiful rush job. :banghead:

I wonder if the new stadium has been “overshadowed” somewhat by the good start to the season and the sensational football on offer? We can perhaps only handle so much positive news at any one time? ....I know Dec 19 is not long away in reality but for many maybe it is “parked” a bit as we wallow in our premiership bound season.

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Definitely saw Buzz at home to Rotherham...

Thank you.

Sorry mate, missed this. As per the yellow fruit.

He seems to have put a hammer lock on any proactive comms on the new stadium which is one of the most baffling moves and indicative of the power base within the club; he’s only a chairman of a subsidiary but calls the shots on what the parent co outputs.

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

We can now see part of the ground taking shape and the club is saying nothing?!?!?!?!

:banghead:

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Something doesn't smell right to me on the new stadium. I am hoping it is just the project is not running to plan and they are busy running around recalculating the major milestones.
We had bull sh*t over Chris and Rhys etc, so I am now very dubious of no news media silence.
I compile communication plans for product launches as part of my day job and it is a missed brand opportunity.

Agreed. All very strange and obviously strange.

Too busy first fighting ticketing issues.

Slightly concerned by this as you’ve been spot on with everything LR related in the past.

The pictures the south stand going up quickly look positive so where could other stumbling blocks lie?

....perhaps lionel rd needs a roof before BFC and its partners get their house in order....and set out their stall...timing i guess.

Waiting to hear its been sold to QPR or will be groundshare

Are you suggesting that no member of the commercial team, stadium project team or director can take ownership of a comms plan whilst every other member of staff is working 24/7 on the ticketing software issues?

At the first consultation meetings I gave extensive feedback – probably annoying the hell out of the attendees – about a once in a lifetime opportunity this is for brand BFC and how the club needs to maximise the commercial opportunities by partly issuing a rallying cry to the best fans in West London and of course compiling a really dynamnic comms plan with a range of media materials. We of course as fans issued a rallying cry, when the club was in danger of sliding into administration and/or ground share and the response was magnificent. Now in one of the most exciting times in the clubs history the silence is deafening. The early optimism when everything from internal fit with memorabilia through to giant screens at the new stadium has slowly ebbed away. The fan consultation has stumbled to a halt also.

I am sorry to say, but when I have a feeling in my bones about something not being right with the new stadium it normally isn`t right. For example the last delay around the June Planning deadline silence and Brian, Chris & Rhys leaving.

It is great to see the steel framework and again, I hope it is just a forecast delay is meaning recalibration of project costs and revenue forecasts.

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

I follow Exeter City on facebook (I went to uni there and when I lived there for three years often went to a few Exeter games a year). They're redeveloping part of the ground over the summer and posted regular updates and info, nice articles about the history and artefacts they found when demolishing the old stand, pictures every few weeks of the new stand and pitch, other changes around the ground etc.

Its a valid point that its not that interesting to some, but surely the first erections at the new site is a fairly big moment and should've been the subject of at least a picture on social media and website article. Even just a lazy "first erection at new site today" type post with no other content... just.. something...

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

I’m worried that Ace Face is worried and also concerned that he seems to be the one driving everything and doing the job our PR and Comms team should be doing.

I'm really sorry, aberdeenbee. Your post is spot on in terms of sentiment but when I got to "lazy first erection at new site", I lost it...

lol rofl lol

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

It certainly seems odd that a fan with a drone is providing all the images, updates and excitement whilst little emerges from the club or others like BIAS.

Granted a few steel girders going up is not the stuff of mass excitement necessarily but in the context of what it means?

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Maybe the club don't want a distraction from what's happening on the pitch at GP right now.

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

They’ve found that bloody river under the pitch haven’t they :(

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Since the ground breaking ceremony there has been nothing in terms of media of any note and no effort to help BFC, through the fans, of creating a demand for a product that currently isn't there.
I said at one of the meetings that a video like this sports trust planning video would be really useful and could lead to a commercial partner not yet reached or considered and also getting fans to sell it to lapsed fans etc. BFC project team member said it was a good idea but so far nothing.
Also BFC has employed someone to sell the naming rights for the new stadium. Wouldn't that person want a high media presence?

And so on and so on....

The ground breaking should have been the start of our rise from the shadows with a constant drip of exciting media messages to sell the club and the new facilities. Instead we have fans worried about the move due to season ticket concerns and general ticket system failures.
I am happy to feed into any comms plan and work with BFC as I do a lot of this sort of stuff at work, but BFC has to change.

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Are you suggesting BFC surpress any comms on the new stadium as it may mean the players have a confidence crisis and stop listening to the coaches?

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Why isn’t there a fans forum this autumn? Perhaps that’s the place to get issues like this out

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Ask BIAS to organise it ;)

Really?!?!

I have no idea how much naming rights are for a (currently) Championship club but do you really need to pay someone to do this? Why is it not part of our current marketing infrastructure? How many phone calls are you going to make a day? How many negotiations?

Crazy...

Give the job to me.

MB: Hello, head of marketing at Fullers. As you know, we're building a new stadium and we've got a shared history in terms of naming our football ground. The new stadium is on the Heathrow flight path and right next to the M4. We're currently in the Championship but aiming for the PL. We get a lot of buzz about how we run our football club differently. We're offering you a chance to be a part of this. How about you slip us some dough so we can call our new ground "The London Pride Stadium" for the next ten years? We'll put your name on the top of our stands so they're visible via the motorway and also the planes. You'll get exclusive rights for the beer sales in the ground. All of the concessions will be Fullers branded. Hell, we'll even paint the walls red to fit with your London Pride brand......Yeah, I know it's also our colours but that's not important right now...."

Well that's not a good sign for someone employed to get people to remember names....

You've got the job Mikey!!

BTW I don't think we need to read anything too sinister into the comms void - other than the obvious one that the club's comms department are missing a trick and should be putting something out fairly regularly and whipping up interest in the new ground. Well done Ace for raising the issue - sadly, you shouldn't need to

Makes perfect sense to me but I thought Fuller's had previously said they didn't want to sponsor any particular club for fear of annoying the fans of the other London clubs.

Even if they'd previously stated this, this is an opportunity for them to reinforce their brand.

We rented them an old orchard over a hundred years ago to start their football club. Like them, we've grown from strength to strength and we're delighted to announce our new partnership.

Besides, they'd be sponsoring a multi-purpose stadium (in prime location) and not a specific club :)

Hello mate
The best opportunity EVER to sell the club as a club on the rise and a brand to be associated with and yet diddly squat.
Every BFC fan by now should be whipped up into a frenzy by now and walking 10 feet tall with chest out and a desire to be part of the exciting stadium with a a wallet full of tenners to increase revenue streams.
Have the 89 fans who volunteered for the focus groups heard any more?
Where's the video?
No webcam that was promised?
Sorry to say it but I have lost confidence in the key stakeholders at BFC and if attitudes and/or personnel don't change we risk a half empty stadium and lounges.

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

Im not on Twitter................... How about a tweet to Devlin?

I know Rebus says billboards dont work but if it was up to me i would have a handful down the Great West Rd with big announcements/adverrtss about the new ground with big updates and directions.

This is our big chance and the club are letting it slip.

Where Is The Buzz & Lift Off For Brand Brentford FC?

I do share the frustration. I'm itching to get my hands dirty but no call yet regarding the focus groups.

It's only one outlet but I had fully expected the New Stadium website to be a hive of activity during the build. I cannot really understand why they even bothered building it if it was going to be so poorly used.

Launch timelines are certainly slipping. I think the original timeline for tickets was for premium STs to be on sale from July and we should have seen prices at least of premium bands by now. Any thoughts I may have had of selecting seats in October have long since been surrendered.

There’s no way they will be selling tickets this year. They can’t even handle one stadium, let alone two!

I think the current chances of a mid season move are about 5%

No. I was thinking more about keeping the fans engaged with getting along to GP to focus on watching the glorious football there.

Maybe for whatever reason the timing isn't right for the big LR promo. I think you are right to speak up though. Would be good to know where we are.

Can barely buy tickets for next week let alone next season at the moment!

Timing isnt right?? They should be promoting it as much as possible.

Is the road still closed I’m sure there are thousands of drivers passing on the difficulties of getting to M4 because of Brentford’s new ground build.

Maybe. But the best marketing in the world wouldn't be much good if we open up Lionel Road in League One.

Maybe the club are ensuring that the focus on whats happening on the pitch right now, isn't affected by over focusing on banging the LR drum.

Let's face it, if we're a PL club by then, filling LR will be a damn sight easier.

I'm just offering an alternative perspective but it would be good to understand the club's view.
