If the GPG had existed 60 years ago......
Churchill: We'll fight them on the beaches......
abee: We had a chance to fight them on the beaches at Dunkirk, and what did we do? Sent out little rowing boats against an army. Typical Britain, cutting corners as always. Wait til BeeH hears about this.
Bigbee: Yeah, wait til BeeH hears about this.
Nigel Brooks: I was there inflating Dinghies, but never will I blow such copious amounts of hot air for no good reason again.
BeeH: As I've said before a hundred times, we had our chance when we flew back to Britain with some piddley piece of paper claiming peace in our times, when really we should have gone for the full Monroe doctrine, and got our money back. Instead we let them off the hook completely. I offered my help as Prime Minister when Macmillan finished but they chose old Winnie. Well that's the last time I ever offer my help.
Luton Bee. Well said BeeH
Bigbee: Yeah, well said.
Bish What I want to know is the following.
A) How much is this going to cost?
B) Who's going to pay for it ?
C) How many sausages will I get per week with my ration book?
D) Are we going to win?
E) Will the government create a wellfare state afterwards?
F) What year will the Eurovision Song Contest begin.
I have sent a carrier pigeon to the Prime minister, and expect a reply NOW!!!!
BeeH: As I've said before a hundred and one times we had our chance when we flew back to Britain with some piddley piece of paper claiming peace in our times, when really we should have gone for the full Monroe doctrine, and got our money back. Instead we let them off the hook completely. I offered my help as King when Eddie abdicated but did anybody want to know? Did they heck. Well that's the last time I ever offer help.
Bigbee: So what is this Monroe doctrine?
Abee It's far too complicated for anyone except me or BeeH to understand. So just take it from me, that me and BeeH are correct.
GPGers (in unison) We will.
Banana I see Montgomery has been made a Field marshall. Do people think this is a good thing or bad thing, or do they not really care at all?
CJC Well it could be a bad thing or a good thing depending on how you look at it. On the one hand it's good because it isn't bad, while on the other hand, if you see it as a bad thing, then I guess it is, sort of, really.
Banana Sorry, I have just added the poll:
Vote: Good thing
Bad Thing
Wild Thing
Larry Signy I think we should judge Monty by how he does in the desert, and whether he bashes the fuzzy-wuzzy who don't like it up 'em. Just like we did in the good old days.
Abee: Monty, is it Larry? Well that proves whose side you're on, doesn't it, you senile old party line following person you.
Ace Face What I want to know is
A) Who made the appointment of Field Marshall?
B) How much is he paid?
C) How long is his contract?
D) Does he have to wear a beret?
E) Is he Monty or Montgomery, because I find people who change their monikers such Tossers
BeeH: As I've said before a hundred and two times we had our chance when we flew back to Britain with some piddley piece of paper claiming peace in our times, when really we should have gone for the full Monroe doctrine, and got our money back. Instead we let them off the hook completely. I offered my help as Field Marshall when Haig died but did anybody want to know? Did they heck. Well that's the last time I ever offer help.
Leicester Bee Crikey! The way I see it it is all a matter of PR. I took some mates from Beesotted paint-balling once which is pretty much the same as a war and therefore from someone who really understands what he's talking about, I'd say the main thing is PR. It's not necessarilly what they say it's the way they say it. For instance they say dig for victory, but they don't tell us what to grow. I mean do they expect us to grow asparagus, or turnips, or cabbages or what. It's so confusing. The PR at the war office is appalling IMHO.
Nigel Brooks Until things improve I will take no more active part in this war, other than me and Brooks Junior taking our usual places in the air-raid shelter.
Luton Bee: I know when D day is going to be.
BeeH: You too eh?
GPGers (in unison) Oooh tell us, tell us, please.
CJC Well, I think it could be tomorrow , or maybe next week, or next year, but whenever it is, that'll be when it is.
Luton Bee It's no good guessing. I know and you don't, so there!!
Ace Face I don't care when it is, as long as the country holds a referendum so we all know exactly where the troops are going to land. All this secrecy is doing no good whatsoever. I am sending a telegram to Churchill right now demanding to know exactly when and where D-day is going to be, how many troops will be involved, and how much the cost of a poppy will be in the year 2004. Also will the d-day celebrations mean Match of the Day will start on time, or will BBC programming run a little late? We have a right to know.
BeeH: As I've said before a hundred and three times we had our chance when we flew back to Britain with some piddley piece of paper claiming peace in our times, when really we should have gone for the full Monroe doctrine, and got our money back. Instead we let them off the hook completely. Incidentally Bosh, I offered my help as Director of the BBC should someone in the future called Greg Dyke be forced to resign, but have received no reply. I think this is the usual censorship of the BBC. Well that's the last time I ever offer help.
Banana I have started a poll for where the D-Day landings should be
France
Belgium
Newmarket
Banana Poll now up.
Leicester Bee: I think I can safely say, with all my experience, that if I was in charge of the war effort, then it almost certainly would never have happened at all.
PJ This Friday Vera Lynn will be appearing at Stripes bar, backed by Soullounger.
Next week we will have performances by BeeH and Abee with their backing band the Unsubstantiated Truth. I don't profess to know what sort of song-sheet they are singing from, but one thing I can assure everyone. It sure ain't gospel.
