Southampton Away............

IF we get there!

does anyone know where our tickets would be situated in the ground???

The offical site says " centre block & wings/goals" which apart from the obvious doesnt help at all.

please view attached jpeg! :sorted:

Re: Southampton Away............

From fanzone.co.uk

The crowd towards the front of the Northam stand tend to sit down, whilst the rest stand towards the back – stewards don't seem to mind, but they don't really like any of the gangways being blocked – reasonable to expect, and shows that they are doing their job. Also there is a No Smoking policy in the stand, which is a good thing if you would rather not smell like an ashtray when you leave. Home crowd – like most clubs these days – is rather quiet, with the majority of banter coming from those home sup porters in the Northam Stand. There are pockets of support elsewhere, but these can be very quiet at times.

Big TV screens – a la White Hart Lane – provide entertainment, and are perched on the top of the stands, and if you can't see the action at the far end of the pitch, then this is a bit of a God send.

What a great place to go as away support. Well done Southampton. A blueprint for clubs wanting to get a new ground, this is how it should be done.

So it looks like the Northam stand and I think it says "Visitors" in the block just under the sideways "Northam" in your jpeg.

'Wings' usually refers to the corner bits, so M on your pic.

Not sure what the other bits mean, maybe 'centre block' refers to the middle of the Away supporters bit, L? and 'goals' the bit directly behind the goal, K?

Re: Southampton Away............

A bit more detective work on the Southampton site suggests that the section by gates K, L and M is the away end, but only holds 3,200. I think because it's a cup game, they have to offer more, so we are probably also getting the section by gate A.

Which I guess would also be classed as 'wings'.

I assume you are including our League One colleagues in your statement "we are probably also getting" - wouldn't want to tempt fate ;)

Blocks K L M - is that an omen...Bees old sponsors....yeh away fans are normally in those blocks and ground is within easy walking distance of the town centre where there are loads of friendly pubs...lots of students but most of them r a good laugh...boozing away their student loans...take the missus...dump her at West Quay shopping Centre. for the afternoon..and everyone 's happy !!!! :) :) :)

Re: Southampton Away............

Was a student in Soton and only came back home to West London in March.

Great place for a weekend with all sorts of pubs/bars.

**IF** we get through, probably the cheapest way to get there is by National Express from Heathrow (or Victoria) - and it only takes about 90mins max.

St Mary's is a superb stadium. Been there once to see Saints v Chelsea. Never would have thought I'd be going again to watch our boyz!!!! The acoustics in the stadium are fantastic. Gotta make sure we make the most of them and sing our hearts out! (not that we'll need much encouragement... :))

Re: Southampton Away............

isn't it good when you go to the university of southampton and brentford draw them in the fifth round!!! there is also a surprising number of brentford fans at the uni as well so we'll be walking around in the red and white strips of a different team than the locals will be expecting for the next few days!

yeah saints really aren't the loudest in the league - they anit the worst but recent events/form at the club seem to put a damper on them slightly!

also easy to get to from london - well central london! - loads trains from waterloo ( about 4 hour) and about 2 hour from clapham, so not bad. its about 1/2 mile to 1mile to satdium from station- considerin the lengths some bees fans are walking to get to a ground at the moment that anit bad! and the city is full of pubs and shopping centres

yeah the city is full of students - but only in certain places and the area st mary's is in (called st mary's) is full of locals and is pretty much the roughest in town - but they generally are only gonna get aggressive if your wearin pommie colours (and if so you'd better start running!).

I went to uni down there and have already been on to me saints mate to start the banter ! ;)

For big games alot of the pubs close/turn away blokes who obv look like they are going to the game but think we should be OK as its 'only' Brentford.

Howz about a chant of "Play up Brentfooooord, Brentford plaaaaaaay upppp..." obv guaranteed to wind up the Scummers :D

Whan were you down at Soton Uni, GABS?. Was there '97-'01. Gonna be in Jongleurs Friday night, and drinking in the Crown in Highfield early Saturday (top pub!). Making our way slowly to the ground throughout the afternoon. What a weekend!
