Putting Peter Gilham Forward For An MBE, CBE, OBE

Right reading the gpg today reference was made (again) to the work Peter Gilham is putting into this club without any benefit for himself. Isn't it time that we rewarded this man for everything he has done for the club?

At my cricket club we rewarded a guy who set up the colts department and single handledy has run it for around 20 years by putting him forward for an mbe.

Although i'm not surely entirely how we go about it (although i'm sure theres plenty of people on here who do) I believe we just have to fill in the correct forms, provide a few references (providing their not members of his family) and reasons for why he should be rewarded. Now I can't see there being a problem with him being qualified for the award (I remember a soccer am where he was interviewed for being the longest running football PA about 3 years back).

I have spoken to someone who knows Peter as far as i'm aware he does not have a title already. So isn't it time we gave something back to Peter for all the effort he has put in for this football club?

It's fine by putting these suggestions forward, but lets actually do something about it.

Peter Gilham is a top man, not only is he friendly but he is extremely hard working and would do anything for Brentford FC and their fans.

Quality.

How long has he actually been here?

Peter Gilham DEFINATELY derserves an honour more than some that have recieved one lately.

I have just downloaded a nomination form and fully intend to submit it.

I will require some additional information on the following so please help where possible - send me a PM with your answers.

Anyone know someone at GP that could also help without PG knowing?

1) His home address, including postcode, date of birth and telephone number.

2) Background - details of post held by nominee which support and are relevant to our nomination.
3)Two or more letters of support, endorsing the nominees contribution from people who are familiar with his service - also names and addresses of those who are supporting the nomination
4) Main reasons for nomination and why they deserve the honour, they are looking for outstanding service to others which may be paid or unpaid but especially selfless service to a voluntary body or to the community. As much detail is needed about what the nominee has acheived which makes them stand out against others, and make it clear if the acheivement is in one area or in a number of different areas.

Any help on the above would be helpful.

anyone remember him climbing into the crowd on the new road side during a half time PA? I remember him getting some good humoured stick and seeing him run across the pitch to New Road and then doing the rest of his Half time stuff from the terrace!

Maybe in the late 80s???

Top Man is Peter G - Always helpful and nothing is a problem

I sent him an e,mail today after he had assisted me twice to let him know that when we win at Cardiff, it should be Peter G and Winnie that collect the Trophy for winning the Play Off Final

A few loud chants of :-

"One Peter Gilham, theres only one Peter Gilham" before we kick off against Sheffield Yesterday at Griffin Park would be a good start

Seriouslythough like the other posters on here I agree he's a top man, our TW8 rock, Brentford through and through :sorted:

I know players get testimonials, but why not PG for services to the club.

He has been at GP almost as long as Brentford. :)

Seriously, there must be some recognition.

I would like to see the new boxes named after Brentford legends rather than simply Box A, B etc.

It would be great to have the 'Jim Towers Box', the 'Peter Gilham' box the Chic Brodie' suite etc.

Peter Gilham is Peter Brentford. his services to his club are fantastic, a top bloke as well. It's not only the club that are lucky to have him, so are we.

btw, Peter G and Winnie both worked 12 hour days at BFC for the last four days and still Peter G joined us for an Andy Scott Benefit meet yesterday evening to assist wherever he could.
