Bees v Walsall match reports

Bees looked comfortable from the start. Passing football, just like watching Brazil ;) . Walsall were dire though, worst team down here this season. Owusu and Rankin worked well up front. Brooker took his goal very well but still some tits having a go at him in the New Rd he makes some very good runs off the ball. Tillen had a great game probably one of his best at left back. Great to see Pratley back, he and Newman play Very well together in the middle of the park. Nelson had very little to do. Super Sam was...........Super Sam. Can't fault any of the players. Can't remember when we last scored 5 goals. Disappointing crowd tho' only 5463 ( I think) for those of you not there bacause of DJ's sale. Shame on you !!!! you missed a fantastic display by the lads. So many times after playing better opposition in the cup we don't play well and even get mugged by bottom of the table teams. But not today. Onward and Upward :sorted:

Bees vs. Wallsall Match Reports

We totally played them off the park, combined with the fact they were utterly disgraceful. Wallsall showed no committment, effort or awareness. Brentford on the other hand were sharp (a few lapses by the odd individual), aware and committed. The first goal was fully deserved, the second, third, fourth and the penalty too. The only reason the ref didn't send their 'I'm a volleyball superstar' player off for the penalty is that it was needless and wouldn't have made any kind of difference apart from misery to the fans that had'nt left already... Yes, we can see you sneaking out :D

Cracking stuff, Rankin and Brooker getting the thumbs up from me :sorted: Brooker was all over the place, and could have got two, but we scored from his effort anyway, and his goal was composed and well-taken. Rankin ran and ran, and looked knackered at half-time, but still plugged away, and could have got another also. Owusu played well, and Tillen was here, there, every****ingwhere, except left-back lol

Good stuff Bees

Great game, great result and a good performance from every single player today.

Walsall were awful and I can't really see Merson keeping his job much longer (depsite the efforts of the Brook Road end :) ).

We took our chances well and looked good without ever really breaking too much of a sweat.

Der Der Der Der ..... Who Needs Campbell ? Like it. rofl rofl

Officially a "rout". (ref. BBC)
Not a thrashing (is that 6-0?) or a tonking (4-0?) or spanking (errr....)

No a thrashing is when the BBC have to spell out the score, 6 (six) or 7 (seven), when the final scores come in.

What about stuffed? That always sums up a good win for me and today's game was one of those.
Very much one way traffic. They were poor, like a team going down with a manager on his way out. I'm sure the one sided nature of the game was partly to blame for the lack of atmosphere, that and the fact there were only half the number there compared to last week.

Bees v Walsall match reports

for once we were clinical infront of goal. although we were good i must say walsall were appauling and played like a bunch of strangers, so good to see just how much better organised our team our with everyone knowing what their role is. brilliant touch by MA to let sodje take the applause with the substitution. does anyone know what was going on with the penalty owusu seemed adament he should take it?
the atmosphere and attendance were very poor today, where did the extra 3,000 home fans go from last week

I think he was upset that we had scored four goals and he hadn't got one of them.

But Kev showed why he should take the pens.

Great performance, Southend at home is very very crucial

:imwith: I thought Wallsall were a disgrace the worst performance I've seen at GP for ages. That said you can only beat what's in front of you and our performance was professional and clinical. Nice to see 5 goals and 5 different scorers too :sorted:

3002! There were two of us there today who couldn't get to last weeks game. Pernickety? Moi? Never.

Walsall looked like a team that were not playing for their manager - we could have had 10.

Bees v Walsall match reports

We looked like we were playing a team two divisions below us. They were utterly pony and I can't remember Nelson having a single save to make - though they pinged one or two wide from distance.

Good to see that we can score 5 goals, from 5 different players, and not miss DJ at all! Thought Brooker had his best game in a red and white shirt today.

Agreed

We were excellent but Walsall were certainly the worst team we've had at GP this season.

All the lads played well and it was a big up yours to anyone that doubted us post-Campbell...

Disappointing attendance but hopefully some of the fair-weather fans who came to the cup game will see this scoreline and come back more often.

Did anyone else think that the keeper was probably glad he didn't get in the way of Kev's penalty? Probably would have put him in to the net along with the ball!

A great 3 points and it was nice to finally see us give another team a really good going over. You Reds :sorted:

Headline from the BBC match report for today:

Brentford begin life without striker DJ Campbell by thrashing struggling Walsall at Griffin Park.

That was well funny.

It was a flattering result on us really cos we didn't play our best but they were so incredibly sh*te it didnt matter.

The look Nelson gave one of their players who made a div of himself in front of the New Road was quality lol

'You're worse than Sunderland' was funny as well. Not a bad game entertainment wise thats for sure.

Where did you go to school? Surely if the difference between last week's attendance and todays was 3000, the fact that two of us weren't there last week but were there today would surely imply that we weren't part of the others who weren't the 3000 who didn't show up today so the fact that we were means that the difference between today and last week must be the 3000 plus the two of us today ie. 3002....or have I had too much to drink? The two who were there today but who weren't there last week will be at Bristol City next week. Anyone know any good places for food near the ground?
P.S. Any chance of a couple of tickets for the Charlton game?:D

The result didn't flatter us in the least and I can't believe people think it did. We were at least 5-0 better than them.

I think that China Bee obviously went to a much better school than you as he's right and you're wrong! Either that or you have had too much to drink. Take a look at it again tomorrow and you'll see (I hope). If not, I'm sure someone locally will be pleased to give you a basic maths lesson:D

Imagine if we had DJ today, he would have scored so many or had so many chances - but oh well hes gone and we won 5 nil lol lol

Bees v Walsall match reports

Award for the most selfish display of the season must go to their keeper who was in no fit state to carry on after the 1st goal. What was he thinking of and how didn't their bench notice?

Bees v Walsall match reports

Didn't think we played our best to be honest, but 5-0 who can moan.
Their sub goalie was gorgeous!

Bees v Walsall match reports

Bothered? Poor old Merson had asked all of them to 'Give their all for him'....
Guess they didn't like him at all.

Poor sod. That's it now, apart from the Newcastle job.

Glenn New Roader... Total Aunt! look at his records...

Worse than U2!!!!

Bees v Walsall match reports

It was great to see us win by such a scoreline and that has done the goal difference wonders.

The atmosphere was most bizarre though. It was very subdued throughout and I really do hope that we can win away to Bristol City to get the people back through the gates. Even though Walsall were crap to win 5-0 is good and I felt very sorry for the players as the atmosphere was so poor.

COME ON YOU REDS!

Bees v Walsall match reports

They were sh*te, we were ok, nothing special I thought. More like a training game. As has been pointed out - strange atmosphere.

Bees v Walsall match reports

I just have to comment what a good game Newman had today. I have been blasting him all season but today he played well. Let it continue. Tillen has real ability as well.

Surely Merson out and a good £10 bet on Walsall for relegation.

Bees v Walsall match reports

The scoreline flattered Walsall, we were so much on top and so much better than them that it ended up more like a training game, especially with such little away support (100 maybe??) about a third of whom had gone by the final whistle.

This accounted for a less than very passionate crowd.

A very professional job by the lads, our passing, movement and understanding between players was excellent without ever having to get into top gear.

Bees v Walsall match reports

Pratley back, Brooker has his best game, the competition for places is hotting up but they were really bad, worse side
seen at GP this season.

Bees v Walsall match reports

Good solid professional job from the Bees. Walsall were by far the worst team to come down to GP this season. Yet another team who had fallen for the "expect a battle there" bollox and came flying in with late tackles and elbows, absolutely amazed there were only a couple of bookings in that game..

Thought we bossed it from the off... Was slightly disappointed that he didnt leave Tabby in the middle, but good to see Pratley back, although he looked very ring rusty and obviously needs a few games to get back to full fitness. Why no Rhodes on the bench?? Still we could have won the game with a one legged midfielder, Walsall were so poor..

Rankin did ok up front, though nothing special. Thought Tillen and Brooker were the pick of our players today, the way they combined for Brooker's goal was superb..

Thought we eased off the pedal in the second half and had Walsall got one back we might have been in trouble but as it was it turned out to be an easy game..

When was the last time we scored 5 at home??

Walsall never looked like scoring, but the 3rd was crucial  if u know what i mean

Blackpool?? :suspect: or am i imaging things.
